View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to import shx and lin files from Autcad LT2011 to version 2013. Each time we upgrade over the years it has been a simple task of saving the 2 files into the program file/autodesk folder however when we try to do this with LT 2013 it doesnt recognise the files. They are from another program called Artisan which uses the Autocad platform. The file extensions are: Artisan.shx and Atrisan.lin.

I am trying to import a MIF file from Mapinfo into AutoCad Map 2011. Which is a data base of geotechnical locations with added log data for each point.
The data seems to come in ok (correct location) but some of the points don't have any object data associated with them. When I id the point and trace it back to the database (originally an .xls file that has been imported into Mapinfo for the translation purpose) there should be a whole lot of data associated with it. most of the points are coming in with data but there are random points with no data.
We have some clients that are using version 2011 and we are using 2014. The landxml we made for them was too big for them to import. My boss made a DEM GEOTIFF to send as it was much smaller.
The client has called me and asked me how the heck does he import the file as he as never worked with them. I have a computer with a 2012 installation, but it's corrupt, none of the MAP utilities work.
how to instruct my client to import this file.
I would like to customize the dimensions of a part in inventor after importing from autocad 2011.
I could able to see only the option available using fx parameters, when a part is modeled scratch from sketch.
If there is an interface between various products, then this option is useful to model it easily.
I am trying to change the materials that are assigned to a STEP file I imported to a different "default" so I can then change a few of the surfaces individually. Is there a way to change the entire part's materials to one material that I select? When I try only one "base" highlights at a time and I can't select the entire part at one time. I am using AutoDesk Inventor 2011 Professional.

"The drawing has not been saved yet, please save the drawing before creating data shortcuts" Only I have saved, this still occurs after either a full or quick save.
Shutdown Civil and reopen still gives the same message..The problem seems to be when you are saving to any other version of Autocad than R2010. Save as R2010 and it works.Mike Evans

I am trying to import the coordinates for an airfoil into Autocad 2011.
I tried the command "spline" and paste the coordinates and "pline" + paste; the result consists of two straight, collinear lines. That's not going to fly.
I tried to set the "units" in meters and the precision to 0.000000 thinking the values were too small and had been rounded which lead to the lack of curvature but the result was the same; then I reduced the number of points but to no use.
import this Solidworks 2011.STEP. Can turn this .STEP into a usable inventor part?

Using AutoCAD 2013 and a basemap that was created in an earlier version of AutoCAD (likely 2002), the coordinates of points exported from surveying equipment are changed when imported into the basemap. Why would the coordiantes be changing when placed on a basemap?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm working in C3D 2009 and I have received some GIS data files that I would like to import. I don't work with GIS files in my daily work so I am not familiar with them. Although I have an idea of what kind of information can be stored in the GIS files. I've managed to get the data into my drawing using mapimport, but how do I know that I have successfully inserted all of the information that was sent to me?
I was given shx, shp, dbf, idx, prj, sbn, sbx, and xml files. All I have in my drawing are polylines that have a little bit of extra information when the properties box is displayed. It just seems like a lot of files to be sent to only receive a polyline. Although all of the files except the shp files have only 1kb file sizes, and the shp file is 400 kb. So perhaps I was just sent extra files?
I am having a problem with my table that I insert from excel into ACAD 2010. The Data in excel is on automatic color and arial text, once imported into ACAD as ACAD entities the data in my table does not want to change to being bylayer as the cell type is set to but instead stays on white. The only way I can change the color is by entering the cell and changing it manually to bylayer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI see you can import junctions from GIS shapefiles, but can you import inlets? I have hundreds of inlets (mostly grate inlets) and I need to import the inlet type and inlet opening dimensions. I have a shap file with the inlet data, but I'm unable to import it into SSA with all the information I need.
I know you can import shapefiles as junctions and convert them to inlets, but then you would have to manually input the dimensions of the inlet. Is it possible for SSA to automate this processs?
I am having problem importing data from two different source. The first one is hypso data and is supposed to be in lat / long from the CSRS. When I import the shape file in C3D using these specification, the white arrow appears in the center of the drawing, and everything seems fine.
Now then, I have those data point from land survey with a GPS I wish to had to my surface. When I import my text file ( which is in P - X - Y - Z format ), the point appears way offside of the hypso drawing.
So I was wondering, how can I know the system in which those point were recorded. Once I know this, how can I specify to C3D that the hypso is in a certain system, and the GPS point in another one, so that they will come together ?
I am bringing in the points by importing survey data because I don't want anyone to be able to edit the point data.
Vive noticed that they can be erased and that you can explode them.
I want to create a live instance of an existing FG-Profile that I somebody else did into our master profile drawing. Is there an easy way to do this? I don't want to data reference it in.
I tried exporting the FG-Profile information into a .txt file and then use the "create a profile from file", but for whatever reason C3D didn't like my profile info was giving me an error message.
I have an excel sheet containing alignment coordinates i.e
Station Number
Northings
Eastings and
Tangential Direction
I wanted to export these into Civil 3d so that I can work with the info. What format would I save my excel document? is it 'text (tab delimited)' or 'csv (comma delimited) or formatted text (space delimited)?
I've tried all the above but I keep getting an error message from AutoCAD that point files not in right format
NB: Am using MS Office 2010
I want to import a number of SHP files into Civil 3D for design - road centrelines, boundaries, creek centrelines, etc. however when I import them into Civil 3D (_AeccImportGISData) it only allows me to create a Pipe network. the dialog that opens automatically assumes I want to import a pipe network.
Is there another way to import this information without assigning parts.

I have a template for each part right now that I have to shrink or stretch to the appropriate size every time we get a custom size order.
What I've created so far is an excel spreadsheet that determines the sizes of all the parts based on the overall height width and depth of the custom cabinet that was ordered. Any way to define a parts properties with a dynamic block and get the width depth or height imported in from the excel spreadsheet to automatically adjust the size.

I have a database with the polyline reference/handle (i.e. '13EE6A') and each polyline has a 'door number' associated with it.
I can easily create a query that produces a table of polyline ref and associated door number.
I need to somehow import that door number into the middle of each polyline on the drawing - i.e. if there is a polyline with that handle, put the associated door number in the middle of the polyline on a certain layer. I do NOT need an active link between the database and drawing - it's just to initially populate several thousand rooms numbers!
I have just upgraded my computer with a faster processor and larger hard drive, as I've recently bought a camera that takes much bigger photos (5D Mk3). This has required me to also upgrade software from Lightroom 2 to Lightroom 4.
When I first opened LR 4, none of my photos (or at least the metadata) from previous hard drive appeared. On looking through the hard drive I have found both the photos (which have transferred across successfully) and what appeared to be the old LR 2 metadata (file name "Lightroom 2.lrcat"). I clicked on the lrcat file and a pop-up advised me to select "Upgrade catalog to LR4" which I did. The process appeared to have worked because it opened LR4 and showed the folder structure and images. Not all of the info is however there on LR 4 screen; in the Library of LR4 each of the folders has a "?" over it, and when I move the mouse cursor over the displayed image in the viewing pane, a message says "The file named "XXXX" is offline or missing". So it seems that LR 4 does not know where the photos are.
how I re-link the metadata with the photos? Is it simply a case of clicking "Library" tab (top of Library window) and then "Find missing photos", or is there a better way of doing this? I have 14000 photos in dozens of folders to re-link up with the meta data.
I'm having some problems using some existing MX highway design data I've brought into Civil3D using the genio import extension. Basically I can bring in all the alignments that I want to be able to use but am unsure where to go next in terms of creating a proposed profile line. My goal is to be able to pull out long sections and cross sections based on this data. Ideally I'd like to avoid doubling up on work in MX and Civil3D as much as possible.

Have done some work with javascript but not a power user. Can't work out how to get the open dialog to appear.
Long term aim would be to use the data to plot a path which seems straighwforward enough, its the getting the info in bit I'm stuck on.
You do have to be able to select the file to import, this bit quite important.
I linked a revit file of some renovations that had been done into an older revit file. This worked fine accept it did not transfer the room data over. When i try to put new rooms in they take the volume of the older rooms not the renovation imports. Why? Why? and why?
Even if I draw out the rooms when i place the room they are still separated and defined by the older room dimensions. Thats not cool that is sad?
I'm testing Mocha with Smoke Advanced and have run up against a problem. When I import the corner pin data from Mocha for a mobile phone screen, there is a significant offset for each corner.
Mocha support have been very useful, and the problem is not to do with aspect ratio or frame size. The track looks perfect inside Mocha.I've followed the exact process featured in the link below.

I have just bought a Panasonic GH3 which is able to sync and add GPS data to images from my phone to the camera.
On importing the files to LR 4.3, the GPS and Altitude sections of EXIF remain blank. On the import preset I use, the Camera Info section is all unticked.
If I go to the folder where I store my image files (the folder which LR catalogues) after the import and drop the file on to Exiftool, all the GPS information is listed there. That is, the LR import RW2->DNG has retained the information. It is there but not displayed.
I've just started using a data reader to import my photos to my mac but have realised that the photos that I have imported have not saved to the hard drive. If I remove it and try to edit a photo in previous import, it says it can't find the file.
