I'm creating/applying Object Data for Pipe Size and Valve Number for a Water Main Atlas I'm creating in Map 3D.
Is there a way to define Annotation for the Valve Nubmer and Pipe Size, so the Annotation is automatically created when each Valve feature (entity) is created? Or when each Pipe entity gets drawn?
how to automate this process.
I have centerline data from SHP file that I can either import or attach to. Has a few lines of object data with it including a centerline of road name. Each one unique. When I attach to the data, I can then "join" with it additional data from a database. When I select a line and look at the properties, it contains both the original object data AND the additional data from the database. SO far So good.
When I edit the style and try to add feature labels only part of the labels come in. I end up with a lot of them with only the letters "text" or just not there. If I right-click on the line and select "Show Data Table" I can confirm that there is data for that label. I find nothing in common with the map features that have labels, or don't have labels. Kind of random.
Question: If I import the SHP file and create object data I need to know if there is a way to "ADD" the rest of my data that is in the database to this object data. If so then I think I could define a Template and label each piece with the block with attributes. Is this possible? OR
Is it possible for me to export to a new SHP file after I have connected to the data (both shp file and database).
If I have an annotative object, with multiple annotative scales, but not the current one, AutoCAD will display it picking one of its annotative scales.
How do I find out which annotative scale AutoCAD is using to display an annotative object that has not the current annotation scale?
Version is 2010.I've made a quick training drawing for some new people to practice 3D piping. Very simple mech piping 2d plan that I want them to turn into 3D. I put leaders on the piping that state it's height and size. I had the first person work on it yesterday and the annotation showed up fine when we xrefed it into that persons training drawings. I then noticed that the routing preference didn't match very well to what they would be doing soon. I wasn't happy with any of the presets so I created a new drawing and created a new preference that better reselmbed our work. When I got the second person into that drawing, we xrefed the architecture, which was fine, then the design drawing, which was fine except for the fact that the annotation was missing. I tried changing the layer that the annotation is on inside the design drawing but that hasn't fixed anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering about how to use annotation attachment.
I am not getting how the option is used.
I am trying to attach some attachment to leader but it causes some saving in temp location (deeper in temp location) instead of creating the association to the leader.
The text set in the Section Annotation Block Symbols move when the block is copied from one drawing file to another. Regardless if in the block editor, the position of the test remains the same.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy question has to do with the Annotation Tool Palette out-of-the-box. For a given scale, the Call out bubble circle and text is a different size from the Section call out. See attached image.

I wanted to use annotation scale objects long time ago, but I was scared…why? In the office no one knows what annotative objects are.
I already start to imagine the "curses" I'll get when they open my drawings in their computers and see that the dimensionin the drawing are not scaled the way they used to.
I was thinking about telling them a command that will do the magic.
I am beginning to use annotative scaling. I am successful when dimensioning and multileader-mtext. I like my leaders and dimension text @ 1/8". When I make my viewport scale 3"-1' all is good.
However, when i try to insert a new leader with same text style and choose block and detail callout my text doesn't completely fit in sheet # slot. There a way to change this. Block editor maybe?
I need a 1:50 annotation scale but it is not listed do I have to make this scale and add it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD LT 2011. I am totally invested into annotative text, dimensions, etc. I specify the text size for paper space and AutoCAD adjusts the size according to the scale set for a viewport.
When I am adding annotation to a viewport, if i choose multitext, i can specify the text height as if it will be in paper space. In other words, even though i am INSIDE the viewport, I cah type 1/8" in the text size and the text is scaled appropriately. HOWEVER, when I create leaders with multi-text, that text size has to be typed in the old way. In other words, if my viewport is set to 1/2" and i want 3/32" high text, I have to type in 2-1/4". That's old school! What's going on with multileaders and the multitext as part it.
The help says this:
"The drawing status bar displays several tools for scaling annotations." It then shows a diagram with the following buttons: Annotation Scale, Annotation Visibility, and Automatically add scale".
I cannot get the Annotation Scale button to display anywhere.
When I select a viewport I do get the Viewport Scale button but no Annotation Scale button, and it's not listed as an option when I select the Application Status bar menu.
Is it possible to get model annotation and show in idw? Im not referring to weld annotation, but dimensions of the 'cut out ' plus some description.
My idea is, i like to use ifeature to minimize redundant operation , this standard operation is used to different part .
part consist of different standard operation (ifeature), now if my operation (it doesn't have to be ifeature) has dimension and annotations, i would to see it in idw.

there is no value, why?
For a project we are currently working on all files are stored on projectwise, all xrefs run through projectwise, so essentially whatever changes are made are immediately avaliable to everyone working on the job. This is great and all, but, one of the companies dwgs have an average of 11,000 + annotation scales. And those dwgs are referenced into ours. Usually in a situation like this we would just get rid of the annotation scales in the original, but since its run through projectwise every time they open and close one of these dwgs it over rides any changes we made (like getting rid of the annotation scales) We dont use annotation scales and i never have, is 11,000+ alot of annotation scales or is that normal? half the time i open the dwgs with these xrefed in it crashes autocad or takes forever.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to crack dimension annotation for ages now. I usually try to solve it within a drawing I am working on. This latest attempt is a test with only something in it to highlight the issue I am having.
Basically there is a correct annotation in model space and three viewports with three attempts to dimension it in paper space. It is drawn in the template I normally use.
Have a look at the attached.

View 3 Replies View RelatedNot welds from a model, but if I go through 4 .idw sheets of details...and annotate all of my welds is there a way to assign numbers to them without manually entering them?
Our welds are track by number through QA, and depending on the amount of sheets and welds in a set of drawings for a given assembly, sometimes it's a real chore when you realize you forgot to add a weld to something on page 2 when you've already edited weld tails through page 5.

I have 2 computers with Windows 7 OS and 2011 ACA installed with a custom profile set current. When I select annotative text, right click and select ADD/DELETE SCALE, the Annotation Scale dialog
box SHOULD open.... but it does not. I have this same profile set on other computers with Windows 7 and they are working fine. We have completely uninstalled ACA, wiped the registry clean, and reinstalled...
it's still doing the same thing. I can switch to the Out of the Box profile and the dialog box opens as it should. I'm not sure where to look within the profile for the issue since it's working on other computers.
How to make dimension annotation automatic..? cause I have ever watching in youtube...on autocad 2011...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to create some blocks, which consist only of text. The issue I am having is with the option to make the block annotative. I have set the text within the blocks to annotative, and it seems to work, but when I reenter the block editor and highlight the text, it still says "Annotative - NO".

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhat I have is a shape files that contains the road centreline of a city I am working on. And that shape files also have a data of its road name etc.
I know how to do it as FDO (using map connect). But what I require is an autocad text entity.
I can save the map as a drawing. But what I only want is just a number of road names and they are not adjacent or near to each other so map filtering is not recommended.
So what I did, I add the shape files using map import command and added the road name data. And then, I used the command Annotation and do the "define annotation" and "insert annotation". From here, I am doing fine. I created a text/block annotation that will extract the road name on the imported centreline on the line I just selected.
Now, my problem is, all the text are in just one direction (in my case they are all horizontal). I tried playing the "rotation expression" but still without luck.
how or what "rotation expression" should I use to make the text parallel/along the centreline.
Showing annotation objects, I’m wondering how the two options “show annotation objects for current scale only” & “show annotation objects for all scales” introduce the same result (attached)! Despite the fact that these annotation objects are assigned to other scales (attached)
In these two cases, the only displayed annotation objects are those related to the current scale! Not all the annotation objects are displayed!
When you have an annotative object set for a number of different scales, is there a way to turn off the shadow when you mouse over it showing a shadow view of the different scales?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have written the following code to have the DIMSCALE on our drawings to update according to our Annotation Scale selected from the menu on the bottom right. Right now its set up though a menu along the top.
^C^C^P_Dimscale;$M=$(rtos,$(/,1.0,$(GETVAR,CANNOSCALEVALUE))[,2,0])
I am hoping there is a way I can have this code run when I select my annotation scale through the menu at the bottom.
Is there a way of simply adding thiscode to the CANNOSCALE command to make it do that? Or is it done another way.
We also need this to work with LT, to we are limited for options.
