My drawing is 594x841mm. but I want to set my layout size a little bit larger, for example 665x870mm (which I received this drawings from others). but i cannot find how to set it up. the one size i can choose is ISO A0 (594x841).
Is there any way i can change the layout size?

Size of labels in model and layout modes,
I couldn’t figure out how the label size is controlled at the layout mode. Please, have a look on the two attached screenshots that shows the label size in model and layout modes.
The PaletteSet changed control size and layout. It's different from the status in VS.What's the reason?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIn the title block of a my layout template I have tables inserted for revisions, drawing type, numbering etc. I have type already inserted in those blocks that I typically click on and then type in what I need it to say. My template works on all my other drawings except a particular one that I am currently working on.
When I click on the type, it automatically increases from 3/16" to 8" and enlarges the box to accommodate the new font size.
I've attached a screen. The top is before I click on the word "type" in the lower right corner and the bottom one is afterward.
I setup a dwg with all of my annotations sized just right for model and paper, but when I XREF them to my dwg that has all of my sheets to plot. The points look the same on my model tab, but when I go to layout the points are huge. I then made sure I had the same styles and drawing settings in both dwgs.

With field expressions I can get the name of the papersize to display that's too long(OVERSIZE: ISO A1), I need only the last two letters.
Im trying to print my drawing A3 but when i shrink the page outline to suit, the print area is still A1. My original page size was A1.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a template with layouts of different sizes that had been working fine with a previous Xerox 6204. My D size and E size automatically oriented with the 36" side parallel to the roll feed. I have since moved to a job that got a Designjet T2300. On this machine the D size orients the 24" side parallel. This wastes 1' of paper on the left and uses 1' extra as it runs the 36" side perpendicular. I have been unable to rectify the problem. I have tried printing in portrait, that actually cut off some of the image. I have tried all types of rotation within the driver and layouts. Tech support had me going into the machine settings and set rotation to 90. Nothing. There is a warning that "HP utilities" is not installed. Could this be a remedy? When the tech came to set up the printer he installed the necessary drivers but mad no mention of this utility.

I have a bit of a problem with Autocad map 3d 2012. When i try to insert a scale bar or a north arrow or any other carthographic element i simply can't find the layout elements that are supposed to be in layout tools tab. I've done a lot of research online and can't come up with anything.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I start AutoCad, I want it to open to a dialog box that lets me choose from my folder of personal templates. I know that STARTUP = 1 essentially does this, but the interface isn't quite as user-friendly as what I see from clicking NEW with the following settings:
STARTUP = 0
Options>Files>Template Settings>Default Template File Name for QNEW = None
With these settings, AutoCad will still open its own default template: acad.dwt (or acadiso.dwt). My understanding is that renaming these files so AutoCad can't find them will force the application to show the dialog box I want, pointed to the folder I specify in Options>Files>Drawing Template File Location.
If that's so, what is the file path for finding the acad.dwt file in Windows 7?If not, is it possible to get AC to launch to the dialog I want using STARTUP = 0?
Is there any way to choose which splash screens pop up in AC?
I spend way too much time every day, every week, every year telling the program that yes, I'm aware that I've just turned off the current layer, and yes, I want the program to do what I've just told it to do, etc.
How i can create DWG using .Net.
While creating DWG file, i have to choose one of the dwg template and location for created DWG file.
If I set startup to "1" then at startup, the user is offered four options:
Open a drawing
Start from scratch
Use a template
Use a wizard
Previously, I use to create sketch's on the face of the part and do holes and extrusion operations.
I use to face lot of issues as parent geomentry is visible while editing the sketch. Started to use datum planes and avoid using the face of the part to create sketchs, This is method is much better as I dont have any issue with the parent geomentry.
But, I have new problem. Please refer to the attached screen shot. When I want to create the holes in nominated centres there is no option for me to select the face of the part.. The counter bore depth starts from the sketch plane.
It would be lot handy, if there is an option to select a plane or a face for these operations. Then I can share the same sketch to create holes in different parts which are at different distances from sketch plane.
I'm setting a layout - I choose plan view for my viewport, save the template and .... I have set it again to unspecified.
Civil 3D (2013) how much you have to improve....
I am not an AutoCad user but I've got an assignment that would go better if I understood a little bit about how interior designers choose colors in AutoCad.I know there are the three tabbed choices - ACI, "True Colors" and Books.My top questions are:
1) does the user choose an RGB "working space" like one would do in Photoshop or Illustrator (in other words, decide if they want to work in sRGB or perhaps Adobe RGB or ProPhoto RGB). Or is there just one possible RGB - in which case, I guess it must be sRGB.
2) is the data for making up the ACI know, so that one can translate ACI colors to their RGB equivalents?
3) I now that with the HSL model you are picking %s of hue, saturation, and lightness....but what is setting the parameters for what is possible here? Is the HSL just a picker that is overlayed on RGB?
When trying to draw a line and choose a starting point, autocad decides that this is wrong and start the line in a different place. I've turned of autosnap and autotrack but this dosen't work.
What is it that I've forgot to turn off?
I`m just wondering if there is any chance to avoid that screen below (when open file from Vault) and set it up to use a certain template by default?

I can create a multi-value parameter and set the iproperty equal to it, then create a form that calls up the parameter...but there has to be a better way. I'd like to create a template with iProperties that are standardized. For example, we have a bunch of labs in our business. I created a custom iproperty for the labs (so that this property could be searched in vault). However, if I stop there, users will find all sorts of ways to botch the lab names. Therefore, when you run a search for a lab, you may not find all the files associated with that lab due to a mispelling. Forcing values chosen from the iProperty list would prevent this from happening.
I was hoping there would be a way to do this with iLogic forms, but you can't create a list for iProperties...at least I don't think you can.

I have a .dwg file with an AT-LCC projection assigned to it. There are some .shp files connected to it.
Can I choose the projection of to-be-imported-points when I import some laserscan-files in ASCII format? So I can tell AutoCAD: these points are in MGI-AT.AUT-Central/GK projection, please convert them to my desired projection.

How to choose the attribute or field data from a list?
When using the “title block”, attributes and fields to better control the information that belongs to the drawing, then it worth to have a feature that allows selecting this information from a LIST.
For example, if we need to specify “location” of the project, then it is better to have sort of list from which we can select the location of the project the same we do it in the Excel (as shown in the screenshot below).
Is there such feature in the AutoCAD? To choose the information from a list?
Long short, we have dozens of drawings and the original base view was deleted, so the title block uses the next view placed to populate. We would like to drop in a new view, and use that as the view the title block looks to. The only way we've figured how to do this is to delete the other 8 or so views (that are already all detailed)., place the view we want to populate the title block, then redraw all the views we just deleted.
Is there an easier way to chose a new base/primary view for a drawing?
We have blocks of process valves. The valve body in layer "valve" and the ports in layer "pipe" The Lower port of the valve is for "fluid A", the upper port for "fluid B".
Now we want to dynamically choose the layers for both the lower port and (a different layer for) the upper port. Dynamically because the same valve can be used twice with completely different fluids / layers. Is there an attribute or dynamic parameter to do this?
In Inventor 2012, you could choose Balloon, select a part, click at some location and the Balloon was placed and finished. Now in Inventor 2013 you have to right-click and choose Continue. The same applies, when you want to place a Leader Text (and maybe elsewhere as well).
Why do we suddenly have to make two additional clicks compared to Inventor 2012. It doesn't work, that you can press Enter instead of the additional mouse clicks.
And why is the Open Drawing moved to second level. The Marking Menu is of no use, especially not in the tree browser.
Why do you Inventor designers make such changes that make Inventor more annoying to operate compared to the previous version. It should be the other way around....like the brilliant inclusion of Open Drawing.
