AutoCAD LT :: Choose Splash Screens That Pop Up
Jun 27, 2013
Is there any way to choose which splash screens pop up in AC?
I spend way too much time every day, every week, every year telling the program that yes, I'm aware that I've just turned off the current layer, and yes, I want the program to do what I've just told it to do, etc.

We have a persistant blue screen. Stop Error 0x124 and 0x122.
PC spec:
Core i7 3.4Ghz
16GB RAM
GeForce 560Ti GTX
Intel DX79SI main board
Ever since we installed CAD LT 2014 we have persistant BsoDs on two PC's.
I have tried the GFX Hotfix. Seem to work for 2 weeks and now again a stop error 0x122.
The PC drivers are up to date, latest BIOS, all possible updates that are availible are install, even tried to disable the InfoCentre.
We did do clean Installs, swopped hardware. It keeps happening on 2 of the 8 PC's we have.
Would watching movies in the background have an effect? I am at the end of my diagnosis.
There are no hardware failure when running benchmarks or burn in tools. Only in CAD

I'm running ACADLT 3102 on a new Dell xps and the monitor is set to the recommended 1366x768 screen resolution. When certain menus like hatch open up, the bottom of the menu area is off the screen, there's not scroll bar and no way to move the menu up to hit the ok or cancel buttons. I've been getting around this by going into the control panel and changing the screen resolution, then finishing the hatch command, and waiting for the default screen resolution to take over again!
Is there anywhere in the program to change the size/shape of the command screens?? Can't find anything in Options>Display....

I often save drawings in DXF format elsewhere on another server for the sheet metal guys to be able to open them and work with them. It is a completely different folder and server than where my working folder is (and Vault as well). Is there a way to get that folder as a shortcut on the left where it shows my working folder? Difficult to drill down through all the necessary folders every time I save a DXF 100 times a day.

When the newsletter was printed in 1 color (blue) the photos were a bit dark. The text was ok. The printer suggested that I "screen back 60%" the next newsletter.
Well....the time has come to print another newsletter. I don't understand what "screen back 60%" means and I certainly don't know how to do it.

We've got Inventor running on about 12 Win7 x64 machines in a lab and recently one of them has started acting up. Inventor will not get past the splash screen. The Windows event log only says "app hang."
I've tried uninstalling Inventor and manually removing any trace of it I could find from the C: drive and the registry and reinstalling to no luck.

Am new to CS5 and I discovered something quite accidently. In Essentials under styles I learned of these little boxes with dots around them and you could drag that over to your picture and a nice screen would appear over your photograph--much like the comic book effect if you did sketch and stamp and sketch and half tone, but this was an already made screen.
I went down the styles looking for how those dots formed into a screen where it would lay over your entire photograph. I'm not sure how I was able to get that effect, but any of those boxes I clicked on would have that screen with different sized dots. How do you do that with some skill?

We have an engineer running Inventor 2012 (Premium Suite) on a Windows 7, 64-bit machine.
He's experiencing an issue where once he starts Inventor, it doesnt proceed past the splash screen.
If I then log onto his machine, Inventor loads fine without a problem.
If this engineer then logs onto another workstation, Inventor works fine for him on that machine.
I have tried deleting the .cas file, no joy; this is a stand-alone installation.
I also reported this to our re-seller since we have a support agreement with them - they recommended a system restore; we felt that this was a lame reply since they didnt even ask for any log files.
They also recommended a registry 'hack' - the solution in the link below was recommended.
[URL]
We tried this, the problem still persists.
We also created a new profile for this user, still no success.
I get a feeling that a full re-installation might be the only way forward bar a system restore.
According to our subscription support engineer, there are chances that this issue might not be resolved even with a full re-installation.

Just installed product design suite 2013 without issue, however when I try to run Inventor 2013 it hangs at the splash screen.
The only way to exit is to kill the Inventor process. Other applications with in the design suite run fine ACAD, Fusion etc.
I did read a post about a windows security update causing this, but I do not have the offending update loaded so it can't be this.

I was thinking of purchasing a chroma key/green screen backdrop because I have a lot of digital backdrops. What is the best way to swap out the background. To date I have used the magnetic lasso tool to cut subjects out and paste them on to another background, but the finished product looks like thats exactly what I did. I have seen other software that simply replaces the background. I have read everywhere that Adobe Photoshop is the "Industry Standard", therefore I refuse to purchase new software. What is the best method of making this work using Adobe Photoshop 7?

So my other designer is having issues getting his ACAD to open directly from a DWG file. He can open just fine using hydracad, or autocad, or acad mechanical, and open the file once inside. The problem only arises while opening straight from the DWG file on our server (or his hard drive itself, doesnt matter the location). Any DWG file for that matter. Myself and another designer are able to open them all just fine, and have no issues. We are all running with the exact same settings of startup (1), and all have the same computer specs.
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5502 @ 1.87GHz 1.86GHz (2 Processors)
8gig ram
64 bit operating system.
Nvidia Quadro NVS 290
and a couple 250 gig Hard drives.
We tried running a repair and it didn't do anything. Not sure what the issue could be. I tried performing quite a few of them for him (even though none of the titles indicated they were having troubles opening just with DWGs, as most were having freezes on the splash screen just opening the .exe).

I'm a school teacher in the PLTW program that uses Inventor extensively in my classroom. Our district operates under a 125 seat license. The issue I've run into is on my personal computer (Windows Vista, x64) and is therefore outside the realm of the usual IT guy's duties. The Inventor software was installed on my laptop by the PLTW training staff during my summer session. I *think* it is a stand alone install of the program.
What happens is after I launch Autodesk Inventor, I can see the splash screen, and the inventor.exe task appears in the task manager, however after a few seconds, the splash screen disappears and the program does not launch. There is no error message.
This is confusing since until quite recently I am sure that Inventor was working hunky dory. Also, all the other Autodesk programs seems to function normally (Fusion, Design and Review)
I've tried a repair and reinstall, but the problem still persists. Also, I updated the install with SP 1, but this had no effect either.
I have recently updated my display drivers (ATI Radeon), however, I tried reverting back to the older drivers and still the problem persists, so I don't think it is graphics driver related

I do tech-support work in a school district that is part of the Project Lead the Way program. As part of this program, we have 2 full labs of machines (25+ each) that are licensed for using Inventor 2012. Each year, this program supplies an updated version of Inventor, so each year I have to make a new Ghost image for those labs and apply it. All the machines are identical, and I image them with the same Ghost image file. This year, I'm having some major difficulty as follows:
On seemingly random machines with seemingly random student-level access accounts, the Inventor splash screen will come up when the kids launch the program…and then it will just immediately dump them back to the desktop with no error message whatsoever. At first I thought it was a rights issue, but on some machines it does the same thing when I log in with my administrator-level account.
These machines were imaged with Ghost, with Inventor 2012 installed, then activated on standalone licenses when the kids log in the first time (at least in theory). The machines are running Windows XP SP3, on an AD2008 domain. Sometimes you can log into a machine with a different user account where a kid has had this problem, and Inventor will open right up. That would seem to indicate that it's an account/permissions issue, but if you then take that kid and move him to a different (identical) PC in the lab, he'll be able to open Inventor just fine.
I've spent a good 2-3 hours Googling this one, digging into Autodesk's knowledge base and just looking through different forums, but I've had no luck isolating any factor that might cause this behavior so far. I even went so far as to do a full uninstall using the Autodesk uninstall utility on one affected machine. When I reinstalled from the disc, the behavior persisted. I also tried downloading Service Pack 1 for the software, which apparently just came out on August 31st. Installing the Service Pack didn't fix the issue either. I see nothing suspicious in the system logs that point out an Autodesk-related error.

Much of my Archived video is on DVD as a direct copy of the raw footage. I wanted to download a section from the DVD and to get VSx5 to split it into scenes. This facility is available when capturing from a DV camera but I cannot find the equivalent when capturing from digital media.
I can use the "Split by Scene" option but this only works on the Timeline and does not generate a Library of shots.

I have made a foreground to background linear graduated screen in PS6 / windows xp and although the color selector shows black, foreground shows black, and background shows white, I get an almost rainbow like assortment of various color bands across the page. I have made the screen with the rectangle tool and also with a new fill layer and get the same results.
I try to change the color... red, green, pink just to see what happens, but nothing changes. It also prints the same way. I put a second new fill layer with a pattern fill to hide the effect, but the page still has faint bands of the wrong color running across it. Any ideas on this issue?

I want to output jpg files as a slide show (not video) to various large LCD screens. Can someone advise me of the best image pixel dimensions and ppi for this? I have tried 4256 x 2835 at 300 ppi as generated by the psd file and it looks dreadful on a large screen. I don't have ready access to large screens, so I am not able to experiment myself. Also, when resizing images (both increase and decrease) is it best to have the "resample" box in "image size" ticked or not?

I'm having trouble making my project fit all screens.
This is my project link: [URL]
I've made this project 7000px wide - scrollable horizontal - with a fixed object (the shopping cart) to make it feel like you are pushing the cart along the street. I then set height to about 1200 px, to prevent the bottom of the screen to go white.
I want this project to look good on mobile, iPad, laptop and PC/Mac - both orientations.
I thought I was in the clear with theese settings, but checking it on a small screen (laptop), the bottom of the stage fell out of the screen. And we can't have that...
I tried setting the height to 100%, tried having a smaller height (800px) and setting the background color to green, tried hiding and showing the overflow, but I can't seem to hit the perfect settings for this to work.
My inspiration comes from this project:[URL] Now, this works - as far as I can see - on all screens, both orientations.

My title shows fine in the Premiere timeline, fine in a burned H264, fine in Encore when I scrub, fine in Encore when I play the preview BUT when I burn a dvd and play the burned dvd in dvd players the title is cut off (all four sides are cropped off).
BUT when I play the dvd with Windows Media Player on the computer, the title is fine on the computer monitor.
My flat screen has four aspects: Normal, Zoom, Wide and Cinema. I am using Normal. The other three settings crop it much more harshly.

When I try to start Inventor is attempts to open and shows up in the active processes list for a few seconds.
Sometimes it will quit before the splash screen appears and sometimes a split second after it appears. No error messages or computer lag, it just simply quits. I'll list the steps I've taken so far. (Windows 7 64 bit)
Deleted the Cascadeinfo.cas file
I've had an error when my 3d connexion mouse trys to start so I uninstalled the drivers.
IT guy could open Inventor from his login on my computer but still not with mine.
Deleted Autodesk folder in the AppData folder and deleted the Cascadeinfo.cas again.
Did a "Repair" of Inventor.
Did a "Re-Install" of Inventor.
Nothing has worked yet and the only advice I'm finding is in regards to deleting the Cascadeinfo.cas file.
My thoughts are that the key to this problem is the fact that it works for other users on this machine. I just don't know what it is or how to fix it.

I must record some ultrasound machine output for some research I am doing. I discovered that your software would allow me to specify s-video as the source and so I was successful in capturing that output as well as the sound that went with it.
However, there are three vexing little problems that would make the program far easier to handle for this purpose:
1. Many actions in the program cause it to reset the source to the default internal camera instead of staying with my s-video selection. Is there a way to set the s-video as the default source?
2. When we begin the capture, Ulead displays an overlay every time telling us that the video quality is substandard and would we like to continue. Give the noisy signal that every ultrasound machine produces, this question comes up every time and has to be answered yes or no. Can the program be set to not show that overlay and cost us time?
3. After we answer the question posed by that overlay, if the machine doesn't "hear" any input, it defaults to an error within 1 second. So, before we answer the overlay question that we wish to continue, we have to have the person with the microphone talk continuously or the program will cancel the capture automatically. Again, is there a way around this time-consuming action?
