AutoCAD Inventor :: Allows Hiding Of DIMENSION Lines And ARROWS In IDW Files?

Sep 23, 2011

Inventor 2010 suite

If IV2010 allows hiding of the DIMENSION lines and ARROWS in an IDW files? I found a thread from 2009 that says it is impossible.

However, I found a way to hide them on some RETRIEVED dimensins, but not on others.

How to MANUALLY, or to create STYLE that hides MY choice of:

1. EXTENSION LINES,

2. DIMENSION LINES,

3. ARROWS

AutoCAD 2010 :: Xref Layers Do Not Print Correctly When Hiding Lines

Oct 24, 2012

I am having an issue with plotting a drawing that includes an xref. I have also included an attachment as reference.

I am working in AutoCAD 2010; I have a drawing that includes another drawing as an xref. The xref is on layer “0” in model space and my titleblock, annotation and viewports are in paper space (layout tab). I am using color dependent plot styles (.STB). The xref is a 3D model created with basic AutoCAD solids representing steel shapes, there are also some line segments representing the steel centerlines. The viewport is a plan view of the 3D steel model, the view is not clipped. Since the xref contains 3D objects when I print the drawing I don't want the “hidden” lines to show up, I accomplish this by setting the viewport shade plot setting to “HIDDEN”.

Here is the problem:

When I print the drawing the xref’s layers do not print correctly but rather take on the properties of layer “0” which has a plot style of “NORMAL” so everything prints in color and with a default lineweight. I want the xref to print using the xref’s layer properties that are defined in the .STB file. One variable that changes the outcome of the printed drawing is the viewport shade plot setting.

If the viewport shade plot is set to HIDDEN the xref prints using layer “0” properties (undesired) and the3D object lines are hidden (desired). See attached Viewport #1

If the viewport shade plot is set to AS DISPLAYED the xref prints using the xref’s layer properties (desired) but the 3D object lines are not hidden (undesired). See attached Viewport #2

The ONLY difference between the two viewports is the shade plot setting, there are no layer overrides and only the xref objects are affected, the objects in paper space print as expected. This only happens with an xref or block. If I bind the xref into the drawing and explode it so the objects are “live” in the drawing everything works fine. Unfortunately I need it to work correctly with an xref.

If I use a color dependent plot style (.CTB) where the .CTB file controls the color and lineweight I am able to achieve the desired results, unfortuneatly my company is determined to use .STB files

AutoCAD Inventor :: Replacing Colour Of Faces With Another Colour In One Hit (Parasolid File)

Aug 17, 2012

I'm just started using inventor 2013 (from 2010) & the way colours/materials are applied has completely changed so I'm learning again from scratch.

Here's my issue: A customer has sent a casting to me in Parasolid format. When I open it, all the unmachined surface are blue & look a bit garish. However, the colours of the machined faces are ok & I wish to keep them.

So, I want to chage all the surfaces that are blue - I can use the picker & select all the blue faces seperately (by holding CTRL down & select each face one be one) but this is a pain & takes ages (there are over 200 faces)

I can see & edit the blue color in the manager but how do I tell Inventor to replace all - can it be done?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Hiding Dynamic Blocks

Jan 24, 2013

I have opened an exported .dwg file from Vectorworks.  I have been able to hide most items I wish to.   My difficulty is that I have (what I think from reading and Youtube) is dynamic blocks (light instruments).  They are on a layer that is turned off, yet they are still visible.  I've played around in the block editor, but I really don't know what I'm doing.  If need be I can delete the light instruments, but I'd rather not.  If there is a command to hide all blocks?  I tried to use the properties editor to change the color to white so they would disappear.  That didn't work.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Hiding Features In One View

I am making a multiview drawing with isometric of a certain sheet metal part. Due to manufacturing reasons, they have to make the part longer than necessary to get a bend in it then I will have them shear off the extra. Is there a way I can show the multiview and flat pattern WITH the extra material and show the isometric WITHOUT that extra? In the model I remove the excess with a cut but I don't know how to suppress a feature for one view and not another.

It has been suggested that I could remove his ACAD.cui (menuload, then unload). Is this the best way to make sure he cannot use them at all and is forced to learn the ribbon?

Another option I have is to simply click the View tab and uncheck the User Interface panel, but he could just as easily turn it back on as soon as I walk away, or even better he could turn on the Menu Bar from the quick access toolbar and add them through the View pulldown menu or just type in CUI and turn toolbars on that way also.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Hiding Sketch Or Changing Lineweight?

Dec 26, 2012

(Image attached). I am using Inventor 2013 and Visual Basic 2010 Express.  I created a sketch within one of my views on my .idw.  I would like to turn this sketch on or off based on the input from a variable that is read elsewhere.  I have used the following code from the help file with no luck so far.

Public Sub SketchEdit() Dim oDrawDoc As DrawingDocument oDrawDoc = _invApp.ActiveDocument ' Determine if there are any sheet overlay sketches. Dim oSketches As DrawingSketches oSketches = oDrawDoc.ActiveSheet.Sketches If oSketches.Count = 0 Then Exit Sub End If ' Set a reference to the first sketch. Dim oSketch As DrawingSketch oSketch = oSketches.Item(4) oSketch.Edit() If vValue_Closer = "" Then oSketch.LineWeight = 0 Else oSketch.LineWeight = 0.007 End If ' Return from edit mode. oSketch.ExitEdit() End Sub

The code errors out on the line 'osketch = osketches.item(4)'.  I have tried using a number like that, and I have also tried using the actual name of the sketch.  Neither works.

oSketch = oSketches.Item("Closer_Reinf")

what to edit here to get it to look at my Closer_Reinf sketch to hide it/unhide it ?

In this example I did not change anything, just went to model space, selected all objects and did tasks "hide objects" and then "unisolate objects". Then, when I go back to my layout, all dimentions are wrong. Nothing was changed, but "hide objects" and "unisolate objects" tasks ruined the annotative dimensions.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Hiding Constraints - How To Keep Them From Turning Back On

Jun 7, 2012

I'm trying to find an option to hide all constraints in a drawing, I am familiar with the toolbar option to turn display constraints on and off but my issue is that it's not a permanent toggle.  Every time I change from a paper tab to the model tab or activate a viewport the constraint display is automatically turned on again and I must wait for the constraints and the drawing to generate.  When playing checker I am frequently changing tabs or checking within a viewport, this is adding significant time required to check the drawing.  I have not been able to locate a system variable or command to "freeze" the constraints until I want to see them again.  an option to allow me to turn off constraint displays as I'm desiring or is this a Wish List item for R2014?
