AutoCad :: Annotative Text And Dims - How To Default With Three Annoscales

Mar 16, 2012

I'm using a VLISP program to generate some drawings. That is to say that absolutely no "user input" is allowed from the moment the first line goes in until it saves the file with a new name under a different directory. The process does open up a template where we have dimstyles and text styles already defined. But none of them are annotative.

In an effort to make this process more up-to-date, I'm attempting to change all the text and dimension styles to be annotative.

There are three layout tabs in this drawing file. One for 11x17 with a viewport set at 1:16 scale, one 17x22 with a viewport set at 1" = 1'-0" scale and one 24x36 with a viewport set at 1:8 scale. I need all the objects in model space to show up in each viewport with the text and dimensions using the annotative feature so the will all have the same size text height of 1/8".

As I experiment with this, I find that I can set the Annoscale for the model at say 1:16. Then all the annotative dimensions and text created by the VLISP code have that annotative scale built-in by default. What I need is for them to also have the other two annotative scales attached to them so they will show up in all the viewports, not just the first one on the 11x17 tab which is set a 1:16 scale. Of course I can manually add these annoscales to the text and dimensions, but then that totally defeats the purpose of the automated drawing process.

I've toyed around with AnnoAutoScale but that again is a manual process and it only add the annoscales when I change the model space annoscale. I guess that perhaps after everything is drawn I could go a have the VLISP code CANNOSCALE the model space two more times for the other two annoscales. My thinking is that would automatically add the annoscales to all annotative objects in the model and thus they would then appear in the viewports.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Annotative Dims And Text

Aug 16, 2012

I know it is a simple thing but for the life of me I cannot make it work. I must of hit a button and messed it up.

Annotative dims and text. I have multiple view ports ranging from 1/8 to 1-1/2 inch scale in one paper space. I have noted items (in model) and need them to appear in the different scaled VP's. However, too much is showing up. All scales in all vp's are active, not just the scale of the vp.

AutoCad :: Text Height On Dims / Perplexed

Jul 3, 2013

I've set up a load of dim styles for varying scales i.e 1:1 through to 1:50.Now the text height is set to 2.5 on 1:1. However when I have changed a dimension string to the dimstyle the text changes to 0.625!?

But if I draw a dim from scratch it's correct. The dimensions are not annotative. When I open properties bar the text height is stated at the desired 2.5 but when I double click to edit text it says 0.625.

Now I can't be bothered to go through my drawings and double click to edit the text hieght or redraw all my dims I just want to 'matchprop', but it's matching!

AutoCad :: Put Text And Dims On In Model Space - Scaling Viewports

Jun 27, 2013

For some reason I have it in my head that you can put all of your text and dims on in model space, then when scaling your viewports the dims and text will re-size its self automatically for that viewport setting. I.e text will be 25 in model space, but in vieports it will plot at 10 or 2 depending on the viewport setting.

What I am attempting to do is: add text, some dims., and some info. to a viewport i have added to a drawing for my field guys. I am a sheet metal worker and have produced a drawing of duct work. one viewport is a plan view, one is a swiso, and another is a left-elevation view. everything is good except the left-elevation view which I would like to add details to. I am assuming I need to change the ucs so that i can place lines, dims and text and get them to show up without them snapping to 0 z.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Editing Block - Dims Text And Arrows Grow Larger When Explode Or Burst

Dec 17, 2013

I have received details that have been blocked that I need to edit. When I expode or burst them, the dims text and arrows grow larger than is required for the block and I cannot find any adjustment in the properties to bring them back to the correct size for the detail. Also the leaders lose their point and association with their text and become just a line.

Is there a command that will allow me to edit the block without loosing the current sizing and associations?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Attributes In NON-Annotative Block

Feb 7, 2013

I have a co-worker who needs to create a block where the attributes scale with the anno scale, but the block container does not. He's creating a tree block and wants the canopy and trunk attributes to scale without scaling the tree symbol.

Making an attribute annotative and applying the scales to the attributes doesn't seem to work if the block itself isn't annotative.

Are we missing something, or is this just not possible?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Text Style

May 23, 2011

I am really confused on an Annotative Text style issue. I have a blank drawing and i need to set up an annotative text, dimension and multileader style. So i started with the Text Style.

Now i would like the annotative text size to be 2mm, Arial standard. However whenever i try to do this, it changes my 2mm to 3mm which is not what i am after.

Is there some limitation to the font or is this AutoCAD error or am i just trying to do something odd.

AutoCad 2D :: Annotative Text Turned To Blocks

Sep 22, 2011

I just called up a drawing I haven't worked on in a while. All the text is annotative with 2 scales, 1/8 & 1/4 and worked just fine. Now I see both scales at once, I can't get "grips" on it, it won't edit, and when I list it, it comes up as object type block "*uxxx", not text. If I explode it, it becomes text again, but as two separate notes of different sizes, and both remain visible, even though the anno scale is set for 1/8. Drawings that reference this also show both scales at once.

AutoCad :: Viewport Scale And Annotative Text?

Mar 16, 2012

I have successfully created one drawing using annotative dims and text - I have set my text to 1:1 scale, height = 30 in paperspace (although I don't get what this refers to when it automatically says it's 30 in modelspace too) and my viewport is 1:20 scale. It's all good, the dims and text look great, which is what I want at the end of the day, however I got there.

But, when I want to set up another detail at 1:40 scale, I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the same dim and text style appear the same size as it was for the 1:20 detail.

AutoCad :: Jumbled Annotative Text Fonts

We have upgraded clean install from AutoCad 2010 to 2014 - no luck. We reinstalled all of the fonts in both the system and AudtoCad (TrueType and SHX files) - no luck. Changing size or scale - no luck. I have not seen this specific issue before and don't have font issues in any other program.

See attached image - typical of all text on drawing, even within blocks.

This would be for any new dimensions that I add. They continue to appear at the old scale. All of the dimensions are correct I would just like to see the dimensioning scaled up to the proper size for the drawing.

I realize that I could just create a new style but instead would really like to know how to change what I am already using.

I'm having a problem with some annotative text. The text is set to "match orientation". which is fine, except the text rotates on the grip tab on the lower left of the text instead of the insertion point.

This is how it should look with the two bits of text above each other, except matching orientation:

This is how it does look:

the lot number is justified to the bottom center, and the area to the top center, so in theory, they should show correctly at any orientation.
