I have modeled a house. It consists of a number of elements created on different layers with different colors. When I generate a section block it is only in one color, this makes it hard to distinguish different elements. Manually changing the colors of each line is out of the question.
How can I generate a section witch keeps the colors of the elements defined by the color of the layer which they occupy?
I have an image that uses about 20 different colors (there are 2 colors that dominate the image). I want to reduce the image to just those 2 main colors. How can I do that in Photoshop CS2 or Illustrator CS2?
For a long time I have been struggling to find a good workflow for what I would call "multi channel color separation". What I want is to reduce a full color RGB image into an image with only a limited number (e.g. 5-8) well-chosen colors, for instance to use as set of masks for screen print. (I'd also like to use this as an effect in itself, mimicking a typical 'screen print' or 'litho' effect on an inkjet print)
The idea is to create a set of monochrome layers or spot color channels. Colors are to be selected by myself (so not necessarily RGB or CMYK). Each channel/layer has to be a continuous tone that I transform myself into a dedicated half tone screen (e.g. with the Andromeda screen filter).
Till sofar it is clear to me. My issue is: How to separate the image in the predefined set of colors?
I can not just select a color range: I can adjust a "tolerance" but that is too general. I need the pixels of with a specific hue but with the full range of lightness (e.g. all the purple pixels that range from dark/medium purple to very light purple). The dark colors can be made dark with a black channel. I'm not sure how to deal with the saturation range.
An approach that gives sometimes a result that is to some extent acceptable is to transfer from RGB mode to an Indexed Color mode and use a custom palette. However, this does not give much control on the halftone screening process.
I envision for instance an approach of filling a layer with a solid given color, select in one way or another only those parts that correspond to the original image and subtract that layer somehow from the image. This process is then to be repeated for each color. Up till now I have not been able to figure the right options to do this. But maybe there is a better way to do it.
One final wish: it would be great if the process can take into account that some layers in the final print are (semi-)transparent. In my opinion this would exclude just selecting a color and deleting de pixels.
Trying to change the blue color in this abstract image (see image) to a much darker green (pantone 561) Any way to do this easily? I am not coming to close to this new darker green color.
Looking for the setting for multi color circle effect for photoshop 11. I have used it before, but cant find it again. I was able to change the size of the circle , and only had to pick one color it did the multi color by its self.
I'm trying to find in Paint.NET the functions I use often:
1) How to straighten photos, using an horizontal line or a geometrical figure (I tried yet the radius straighten, but the photos are deformed then)
2) Some info on how to add a transparency layer and how to "colour" an area with transparent background;
3) How to make a gradient of two or more colours with advanced settings;
4) How to cut an area of a photo with precision (point-to point system and point to point "guided" based on colour tollerance levels; magic wand seems not to cut and then I haven't a firm hand);
I am kinda new to image editing and I am wondering how to do something like on the news (the weather reports in particular) where the replace/add the landscape to a green/blue background. I would like to do it with a white background and have it replaceed with something more interesting. The closest I can find is the color replacement tool but that is not quite what I want to do. Any ideas?
Both here and to Gimp. Tested it a bit on and off, but the breakthrough for me was the single window mode, so now I am currently making an effort to learn something.
My first question is actually about something I am failing to do with Photoshop CS4. I create a text, rasterize it, then create the stripes via the rectangle tool (in this case I am messing with different national colors, like Germany). Now so far so god, but I never get around to actually be able to merge the strips with the text. The closest I have gotten is to see the text behind the stripes, but then the strips also covers the space between the text. I followed this tutorial for that: [URL]......
I looked at Your Sweet Candy tutorial and, excluding some steps, seems to be relevant, but for step 15, where I do not want to select stripes available inGimp, but create new ones.
I am a Graphic Designer for a print shop and we just had a large document printed that looked to be in black and white but must have been in color somewhere (gray boxes) and used more clicks on the printer than we wanted. I'm wondering if there is a quick way to check a document like this in CS5 programs to see if it is truly in black and white or if there is something in there that is RGB or CMYK.
I have recently upgraded from corel 12 to X6. I work in SignLab e6 on my production computer. Now since I have upgraded when I export files from x6 and import them into SignLab e6 they will not import unless I change everything to 1 color. If it does export the file as full color, when I import the file it is converted to 1 color. This takes a lot of time to re color everything. I typically have to export files from Corel as .EPS in order for the file to import into Signlab with best quality, but have been using the CMX (legacy) lately with same results. I dont understand why I have to convert them into 1 color nor why they convert from full color to 1 color.
I need to create a BoM . I have a few component Blocks create and when I select these in the drawing I get the Enhanced Attribute Editor and I can view/modify a components attributes. But now, how do I get to create/generating a BoM.
I'm using Cad 2011,how do u generate 2D drawings from a 3D object,i know that the command only works on layout n on 2013 the command is "Base".So wat is it on 2011?
I need to extrude a simple shape between two planes and then get the length as a parameter. Is there anyway of generating this? All I can find is a parameter for the angle of the extrusion.
I've started a blog series on how to generate CNC cut files. Mainly for wood/ply and sheet metal, basically nestable components, but can apply to other CNC fields as well. check it out here: URLs....
I'm trying to create an array from one block with the option to specify columns, rows, respective offsets as well as angle. The original block comes from a 98kb dmg and is pre-inserted at a specific x,y,z in the model space. The issue I run into is whenever i try to create an array with say more than 200 lines and 200 columns, the machine locks up. It generally will create the array however it can take upwards of 5 minutes.

I've never used AutoCAD before but I'm trying to generate a sphere with triangular meshing. I'd like for the sphere to be centered relative to the coordinate axis. I'd also like to know the simplest way to export the data such that I can go in and process the coordinates, faces, and what not without too much trouble.
In our recent project, im working with a certain utility pipe. For now I am being required to submit a list/table containing all the hundreds of marker posts of the line together with their location coordinate. I already have the layout and all the marker posts (in block). What I’m doing now which I realized very time consuming and boring is that I am clicking them one by one and copy/paste the coordinate in a separate excel sheet. Is there any way/lsp I could use to generate a list of all the marker post together with their xy coordinates with just a few preparation/clicks? Im using autocad 2012.
I need to change that blue piece into dark green and the red into light green. Highlighting the section would be the obvious part, but when I paintbrush over it, it looks cartoonish. How can I keep it looking professional like that, whilst changing the color?
When we create iparts and generate the files from the mother ipart, Inventor creates an additional folder to place the iparts into. Is there a setting somewhere to force Inventor to place these generated files into a user defined location?
Or is this just something we have to live with and do we have to manually move the files after generating them.
I would like to know if there were any way to generate a drawing (.idw) using given parameters from i.e. macro, VB, or etc. What am trying to do is set up a template for a mass produced component that we manufacture that has many different variations. Usually the dimensions that changer are the OD, ID, and length. Is there anyway for me to accomplish this in Inventor Premium 2012?
I am trying to verify the bending strength of a solid part. Need to calculate the section modulus on certain cross section. Don't know how to do it using inventor.
I'm looking to basically do what this video shows:

I just want to create a section from the point cloud, but the point cloud won't allow me to select it as an object in the 'Generate 2D/3D section' dialogue as it's not a solid/surface.
On an unrelated note, I find snapping to the point cloud impossible - is there an option in OSNAP that I'm missing? I've tried this with attached PCGs and RCP point clouds, no difference.
I have lots of section views with some surfaces and pipes. Unfortunately, in a number of section views pipes are not shown in full height because the section view level range is too little. What I am wondering is - is it possible to automatically adjust section level ranges so that they fully include pipe sections? Please see also the image in the attachment.
