View 2 RepliesBoth here and to Gimp. Tested it a bit on and off, but the breakthrough for me was the single window mode, so now I am currently making an effort to learn something.
My first question is actually about something I am failing to do with Photoshop CS4. I create a text, rasterize it, then create the stripes via the rectangle tool (in this case I am messing with different national colors, like Germany). Now so far so god, but I never get around to actually be able to merge the strips with the text. The closest I have gotten is to see the text behind the stripes, but then the strips also covers the space between the text. I followed this tutorial for that: [URL]......
I looked at Your Sweet Candy tutorial and, excluding some steps, seems to be relevant, but for step 15, where I do not want to select stripes available inGimp, but create new ones.
I need to fill text with the american flag, preferably a waving flag. I will adding some layer effects as well.
View 9 Replies View RelatedHave a quick and hopefully easy question for ya'll. Looking at making some color changes to a picture, and have easily been able to change colors using hue/saturation and turning reb to blue, etc. The problem that I've run into now is how do I change something that is black in a picture into being able to change the color on that. In essence I am trying to take an object that is currently red and black and flip the colors to be black and red. The is quite a bit of detail in the image that I need to keep also. Any hints are extremely welcome.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a test font where the font changes to an opposite color than the stripe running 'through' it. Problem is I don't know if there is a specific name for this style, so all my searches have failed. I have attached a sample image and will explain.
The image has a phone cover with alternating red/blue stripes. There is a white cursive script font running vertical but the script is white. What I would like to try and do is make the script red where the stripe is blue and blue where the stripe is red. In effect, the font become a negative of the color it touches.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to make this effect on a photo. Its abit difficult to explain, but I'll try:
The image only contains one color, say black or red, and is put together by dots in different sizes and with different space between them, not sure, might just me different space between them. In the dark areas they are close to each other and in lighter areas they have a greater distance between each other.
I also wonder how to make the same kinda dot effect, but not with only one color. like magazies and newspaper use when they print photos. Im not reffering to the halftone filters. I tried to define a dot pattern, and delete the inverted pattern in the image, but im not satisfied with the results...
Many of the transition effects have a green color. Is there a way to change mulitples at a time or is the only way to do one at a time? I'd rather use a more neutral color than bright kelly green.

View 2 Replies View Relatedquite puzzled about the following. within illustrator i am trying to create a pattern of squares, with the squares themself slowly transiting (gradient) from 1 color to another...
see image below
i made 4 little squares, used them as a swatch. filled a big rectangle with the swatch and expanded the object again so all squares are now individual elements...
now all i need is the full gradient from left to right but filling each square with one fixed color.
I am working in printing press, when I am giving trace sheet print. The grey color was coming dots.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a long time I have been struggling to find a good workflow for what I would call "multi channel color separation". What I want is to reduce a full color RGB image into an image with only a limited number (e.g. 5-8) well-chosen colors, for instance to use as set of masks for screen print. (I'd also like to use this as an effect in itself, mimicking a typical 'screen print' or 'litho' effect on an inkjet print)
The idea is to create a set of monochrome layers or spot color channels. Colors are to be selected by myself (so not necessarily RGB or CMYK). Each channel/layer has to be a continuous tone that I transform myself into a dedicated half tone screen (e.g. with the Andromeda screen filter).
Till sofar it is clear to me. My issue is: How to separate the image in the predefined set of colors?
I can not just select a color range: I can adjust a "tolerance" but that is too general. I need the pixels of with a specific hue but with the full range of lightness (e.g. all the purple pixels that range from dark/medium purple to very light purple). The dark colors can be made dark with a black channel. I'm not sure how to deal with the saturation range.
An approach that gives sometimes a result that is to some extent acceptable is to transfer from RGB mode to an Indexed Color mode and use a custom palette. However, this does not give much control on the halftone screening process.
I envision for instance an approach of filling a layer with a solid given color, select in one way or another only those parts that correspond to the original image and subtract that layer somehow from the image. This process is then to be repeated for each color. Up till now I have not been able to figure the right options to do this. But maybe there is a better way to do it.
One final wish: it would be great if the process can take into account that some layers in the final print are (semi-)transparent. In my opinion this would exclude just selecting a color and deleting de pixels.
Trying to change the blue color in this abstract image (see image) to a much darker green (pantone 561) Any way to do this easily? I am not coming to close to this new darker green color.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe color picker in CS4 has 2 options: "actual layer" and "all layers".
I get the same values on multilayered documents no matter what option I take.
I have a german version of CS4.
I'm working in the multi-channel format, which as you may know, does not support layers.
Does anyone have any tips on experimenting with the layout, without the use of layers?
At the moment, I've been working out the layout in another (layer-supporting) colour mode, and then recreating that layout in the multi-channl mode.
Surely there is a better way of testing different layouts, within the multi-channel mode itself? I'm finding it very inflexible at the moment.
I am kinda new to image editing and I am wondering how to do something like on the news (the weather reports in particular) where the replace/add the landscape to a green/blue background. I would like to do it with a white background and have it replaceed with something more interesting. The closest I can find is the color replacement tool but that is not quite what I want to do. Any ideas?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am a Graphic Designer for a print shop and we just had a large document printed that looked to be in black and white but must have been in color somewhere (gray boxes) and used more clicks on the printer than we wanted. I'm wondering if there is a quick way to check a document like this in CS5 programs to see if it is truly in black and white or if there is something in there that is RGB or CMYK.
