I have two drawings, both in unit: meters, UCS world (however I think that doesn't matter). How come that a hatch with same scale appears denser in one drawing than the other?
View 8 RepliesNormally when I hit move or copy there cursor will change to a square and I can click single items for the command. If I enter "c" on the command line and change to the cross cursor I can select multiple objects by clicking and dragging.
In some drawing the cursor will not change to a square and I can not enter "c" on the command line. I can select single objects but the cursor becomes the standard windows arrow.
Is there a setting / variable in the drawing that can affect this?
The Scale tool from the toolbox behaves differently from Image>Scale Image. What's the difference? Are there circumstances when I want one and not the other? I'm using 2.8.6, Windows 7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on creating a set of plans and have a couple of note pages that are generic and will not need to be change. I am creating a template with layers, layout tabs, styles, etc. I am trying to put these notes straight into a layout tab just simply by pasting them in there. The issue I am having is with the hatching on a couple of objects, the hatches appear correctly right off. When I save the drawing and reopen the hatches are a solid block, regen does not fix this. I can however explode the hatch and then undo the explode command and it appears correctly. Is there a way I can make the hatches appear correct everytime?

We have a dynamic block here at work that has a solid hatch in it. It is a simple block which only utilizes a dropdown menu.
This block is a circle with a solid hatch in it. However when I select the block via dropdown menu, the hatch is not solid, it is a bunch of lines originating from the center of the circle.
I have never had this problem before with this block and nothing has changed with the block.
It also works fine when I open up other drawings.
This tells me that there is a problem with the settings of this specific file but I cannot figure out what setting.
I believe the problem occurred because I brought my work home with me and I have different settings on my autocad (both ACAD 2011).
I have have small gray shaded boxes showing up on drawings plotted in Civil 3D, they are never anywhere I can see in the drawing and they never show up in the print preview. I have tried using multiple printers and still get the same thing. I think it may have something to do with viewports as they only show up inside a viewport window when plotting from paperspace and don't show up when I plot from modelspace.
View 9 Replies View RelatedA coworker is trying to publish a bunch of drawings to dwf and is having problems with the linetypes. Essentially, after publishing, the hidden lines are showing up dashed in some drawings and solid in others. We've tried setting the ltscale to 1 and the psltscale to 0. We are using AutoCAD 2007. Additionally, when we look at one tab in paperspace, the lines look correct, on another, the dashes look smaller. I'm at a loss as to what to do.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFor unknown reason the hatch pattern preview does not work on some drawings - I have tried turning HPQUICKPREVIEW off and on but this does not make any difference. Also the hatch palette images boxes are blank at times (I have to slect the update tool image to get them back). This only happens on some drawings (others work fine).

When i go into Hatch edit after i have clicked out of it, i can get it to go to the scale i need. It just wastes so much time to have to do two steps instead of one. How can i get the scale to change right away?

So I've got a Construct that is the building model. I also have a View file for my 2D extracted elevations. I've just 'Refreshed' one of the elvations based on some updates I did to the construct model. But when the 2D elevation refreshed, it's surface hatching (roof tiles) scaled itself down considerably. What controls this? I need to have that hatching scale back up and don't know how.
How do you get the spacing you want for a hatch? For example if using ANSI 31if under pattern scale you have 1.0 what spacing does 1.0 represent? If you want your lines 1'-0" apart how to you know what scale to use other than trail and error?

Anyway when I go to the hatch command and try to set the hatch scale it won't take the scale and defaults back to 1 or 1". Is there a setting I need to address? I never had this problem in my old computer.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI worked in a drawing(#1) a few weeks ago and since then have copy pasted the drawings to be scaled at 1 1/2" into another drawing(#2) and have since been only working in this drawing(#2).
In the original drawing(#1), I was able to scale my drawings at 1 1/2" without any problems but in my second drawing(#2), when I try to scale drawings at 1 1/2" all of my annotative bubbles get ridiculously small.
Once having discovered this, I copy pasted my second drawing'(#2) components into a 'Copy' of my original drawing(#1), thinking that my second drawing(#2) file might have been contaminated, but with no luck because I could see that within the Same viewport scaled at 1 1/2" the original drawing(#1) was scaled properly but the second drawing'(#2) symbols became very small.
I am stuck.
I created a associative and annotative hatch for a group of objects. It displays fine and the area measures fine. When I switch the annotative scale in the lower right for the whole drawing, portions of the hatch dissapear from the boundary objects - both visually and from the area in properties, When I switch back to original annotative scale, that area is still no longer there. In essense, parts of the hatch get deleted.

I need to change the hatch size (not the pattern scale or space, juste the hatch size).
Exemple : I have a circle, and a hatch inside the circle. The radius of the circle is 10, so the radius of the hatch is 10 too.
What i want to do is to make the hatch smaller (or bigger) like this : Circle radius : 10, Hatch Radius 5 (or 15).
My first idea was to recreate a new circle with radius 5, and a new hatch inside and then erase the second circle. It works, but not very effective in my case.
So, it's why i came here to ask if there is any solutions to make this faster, easier, without having to recrate another hatch, another circle...
I have been using AutoCAD for many many years and only recetnly discovered the "MEASUREMENT" command. This has allowed me to work out why some hatches are larger than others but I still don't understand hatches! I have a few questions,
Lets establish some things I know,.
1) MEASUREMENT 1 is for us metric people.
2) HPSCALE alters the hatch scale for all drawn hatches after
3) Default for HPSCALE is 1 (tiny in metric)
Now the questions:
1) Does the hatch scale relate to any type of distance variable? e.g. the gap between the lines in ANSI31 is say 5 times the hatch scale or is this totally and unterly random?
2) If there is a logic behind it, does this apply to all hatches in ACADISO.PAT? e.g. scale of 10 produces 10mm gaps in all hatches? (I know it doesn't but there must be some logic to it? Surely?)
2) If the hatch scale is not logical (see Q1) what is the point in the meaurement command and ACAD.PAT and ACADISO.PAT files?
I'm using AutoCAD LT 2007 and have a problem with linetype between two drawings. I have a standard key which I use on a number of drawings, problem is when I copy from my original file (in model space) to paper space on another drawing the linetype isn't viewed the same.
I've set LTSCALE to 1. PSLTSCALE to 0, Global scale factor to 1 in both files but still no joy.
Q1: can you scale your drawings on Model Space?? if so, what command should i type?
Q2: can you scale different drawings (different scale) on Model space?

For some reason I can't change the hatch pattern scale prior to hatching an object although after placing the hatch I can. The procedure I am using is as follows in LT2011. Select hatch, set the hatch style, over type the scale say to 100, click inside the area to hatch. Immediately the hatch pattern scale sets itself back to 1 I then have to type 100 back in and then the hatching will be set.
View 0 Replies View RelatedI work very closely with a customer, and have been asked to implement their drafting standards for a dwg file they received from another vendor. I have attached two drawings, 1 (their vendor's) and 2 (mine, in progress). When opened, I notice the linetype scale *appears* different between the drawings (note the differences within "LINE LEGEND" section of both drawings). It *appears* as though Drawing 2 has double the linetype scale of Drawing 1.
I realize that within Drawing 2 I could set the LTSCALE variable to 0.5, but that seems like a work-around and may cause problems with other aspects of the customer's drafting standards in the future.
I've already confirmed that both drawings have the same values for LTSCALE, PSLTSCALE, MSLTSCALE, CELTSCALE. I've also already confirmed that, for the "PACKAGED EQUIPMENT" entry with the legend, the properties dialog box shows the exact same values for all fields. Lastly, (trying [URL] .....) I re-loaded the linetype for PHANTOM2.
I'd like to have them both appear the same, if possible.
Someone was using my computer and maybe they clicked on some button but now if I am in a layout and double click on my viewport I can not change the View Scale by typing in a custom scale.
I typically work in meters and do subdivision layout so I use 1:500 up to 1:5,000 but now even though the view ports are unlocked the number will not change when I type it in but I can zoom in and out with my mouse.
I can pick a scale in viewport scale like 1:5 1:1 but prefer to type in my scale as I like to plot it.
I recently started working at an Electrical Engineering firm and one of my many tasks is to sort out their AutoCad system and bring it up to date! An issue that has only recently started happening is that our blocks don't insert at the correct scale. Some of our drawings are metric and some are imperial, and currently all our blocks are in one Imperial file (reference file for our palettes). Is this our issue, my understanding is that when you create a block you should create it as a wblock and each block should have its own file.
The problem is that some of our blocks we want to come in at scale ex/ a 2'x4' light fixture, however an electrical socket or light switch symbol we want to come in at a slightly enlarged scale so that you can easily read the drawing and see where they are located.

The issue comes that when i go to input a scale at the viewport stage the drawing is tiny. Ive always worked in mm and thus never had this issue when using the standard 'z' enter 's' enter 1/##xp' to achieve the desired scale
i would like to understand how i can still work these drawings without scaling everything up in model space at a factor of 1000, which is the only way i can think of getting round this issue.
