AutoCad 2D :: Annotative Patterned Hatches Disappear Or Shrink In Particular Viewport
May 30, 2013
Having some trouble with some annotative hatches. Notably ones with patterns in them? I am testing them out in multiple viewports of various scales and for the most part they work great. But every so often in a particular viewport they either disappear altogether or shrink to a smaller size and bring my AutoCAD to a dead crawl?

I have this complex section of an architectural project, which is drawn at 1:1 scale (obviously). It has lots of constructive details, however i've made lots of layers and everything is under control. However, as I started to hatch the drawings, i was having big problems at using the same drawing for different scales, because non-annotative hatches also change their size with different scales.
So I began trying annotative, and i did it as i read in several how-tos. I made an hatch in the layout to know the perfect scale for the hatch, then applied that scale in model hatches. Then, in properties, I selected the scales at which that hatch should belong. Until here everything was OK!
However, as the ideal scale for the hatches (ANSI31) was something like 0.0003, here started the problems. The layout has an erratic behavior with similar hatches (I even tried to use match props to be sure different hatches had the same properties). On different viewports, some of the hatches appear as solid, and they plot just like that! As I zoom in and zoom out, the problem changes, as problematic viewports become right and others become wrong.
I tried to change HPmaxlines to 10000000, i tried to change the size of ansi31 in acad.pat, however the problem persists. It seems that the problem disappears when i have increase the hatch scale to, lets say, 0.05, however it's not that scale I want because of the presentation...

I have a drawing with some annotative blocks. ie Block name "BAR'.
If I insert another drawing (mostly old v2000 files) as a block which also contains blocks named "BAR" (which of course are non-annotative) the Blocks do not show up.
Is there any way to get arround this? Idealy I would like the old file inserted and have the annotion scale of the blocks in the inserted dbg set to the current scale.

I created annotative multileader, but later on by unknown reason only two shown on my drawing, others are disappear in both module and paper space, the layer didn't change, the scale didn't change. When I click one and right-click select similar and make copy or move, everything display again, after click anywhere on the screen, nothing was copied and gone again, spent long time to try to figure out but still couldn't find solution.

I'm using AutoCAD 2010 and I tried creating an annotative dimension but it won't show up in my viewport unless ANNOALLVISIBLE is set to 1. Both my annotative and viewport scale are set to 1/8"=1'-0".

I have successfully created one drawing using annotative dims and text - I have set my text to 1:1 scale, height = 30 in paperspace (although I don't get what this refers to when it automatically says it's 30 in modelspace too) and my viewport is 1:20 scale. It's all good, the dims and text look great, which is what I want at the end of the day, however I got there.
But, when I want to set up another detail at 1:40 scale, I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the same dim and text style appear the same size as it was for the 1:20 detail.

If you change a view port scale of a view port that contains a bunch of annotative blocks.
How do you change the active annotative scale of all those blocks without individually picking the blocks.
So all the blocks appear the proper size in the viewport.

This is issue arises when i have been working on a drawing for a while with multiple xref/data shortcuts. The model space text is all the correct size yet once I enter a layout the annotative text relating to 3D elements such as Alignments/Profile Station/Elevation Labels shrink to 1/25 their size. Other annotative objects such as Mtext and Multileaders are not effected. Attached are before and after pictures.

I use IN MODEL SPACE command:
view/ viewports/ two viewports (horizontal or vertical)
just ordinary split window in model space.
I found out that is missing line between viewports. I am looking in options but there is nothing.
Which command or system variable it is???

I have a drawing with several layouts, and in one particular layout only, I want the text to be smaller than the annotation scale would dictate (the viewport is 1"=300', but I want the text to display at 1"=50' annotation scale).
I tried selecting the viewport and changing the "annotation scale" property to 1"=50', then the "standard scale" property to 1"=300'.
Strangely, this seems to work for a bunch of MText objects I have in the drawing, but it won't work for an alignment station label group or for a particular linetype...for some reason, those two things insist on having their annotation scale equal to the viewport scale.
I tried messing around with the alignment station label group's style but couldn't figure anything out. As far as the line/linetype, I'm completely at a loss why that one wouldn't change.

What i have is a low polymodel that's quite small in scale, i'm modelling around a higher poly model, when i zoom in, the viewport clipping kicks in and parts of the model disappear, so i cant work on the small details. What i need to do is scale up both my low poly and high poly, work on the small details and scale it back down.
In maya there are multiple solutions to this; The first and most obvious would be to increase the near clip in the camera attributes.
The second would be to freeze transformations on the low and high poly, scale up the model, work on it and then scale it back to the value of 1.
The third would be to put both the low and high poly models into a group, scale up the group, work on the model, return the group back to its default size and ungrouping. Personally i would use this method to preserve the original scale values on the low and high poly models.
Is there a way of doing any of the above in 3ds max?

I am running Autocad arch 2011 (as Autocad 2011) and a co worker is using Autocad electrical 2012 and when he works in a drawing of mine the every annotative scale that is used in the file is attached to every annotative object. Which means I have to go through every object and delete scales that should be be there....all my annotative objects appear in every view port because every annotative object has every scale..

I have a co-worker who needs to create a block where the attributes scale with the anno scale, but the block container does not. He's creating a tree block and wants the canopy and trunk attributes to scale without scaling the tree symbol.
Making an attribute annotative and applying the scales to the attributes doesn't seem to work if the block itself isn't annotative.
Are we missing something, or is this just not possible?

I've run into this problem with different sketch types when curves cross each other and are trimmed, or when patterned sketches are coincident. The problem I'm having is that I'm creating a ratchet wheel and I'm patterning a sketch in two parts so that the spacing for the teeth line up. What I do first is draw the angled line of the tooth, do a circular pattern of 20 teeth around the origin, an then create an arc from the bottom point of each line to the tip of the next line to create the back of the tooth. When I try to extrude it, it says the loop is not closed, but when I do the repair, it says it overconstrains the sketch and is not possible. I've tried creating this profile using a center circle that intersects the bottom of the teeth and it does not work either. I was able to make the profile I needed by making one tooth, extruding it, patterning the feature, and then creating a circular sketch in the middle and extruding it. The problem with this (aside from requiring additional steps not needed in other programs) is that when I needed to go back and change tooth dimensions, it can't rebuild the sketch.
I attached two different sketches of the non-closed profile as well as the solid ratchet piece that I made using the pattern feature command that has the teeth that can't be easily edited.

I have attached the block for reference. Now that I have found the error of my way with the annotative cutline. I have a slab-on-grade block that needs to have annotative hatches; I also need the cutline to be annotative and dynamic so that as the drawing scale changes the scale of the cutline will be match and I can adjust the length of the extension lines. I have made the cutline a nested annotative and dynamic block within the slab-on-grade block. When I insert the block into my drawing the cutline is annotative and the dynamic grips show up but they do not work.

I am patterning a sub-assembly which has a reference part that is not visible in the sub-assembly. I'm driving this sub-assembly with a quantity parameter and when addition instances are created, the hidden part turns visible. I can bring the sub-assembly in multiple times and the parts remains non-visible, however, once I pattern it, the part shows up in all instances except for the original.

is there a way to create an associative array of posts so I only have to edit one part to have the entire array change? that is, I want to have global values for the dimensions in the picture below: post diametervertical width between post centreshorizontal width between post columns (again, centre to centre)vertical shift of each column w.r.t. previous one I've used the Rectangular Pattern tool to create a repetition of my posts, but I want to shift each column of posts up slightly with respect to the one before as in the attached picture:
It seems that if you want to repeat along non-perpendicular axes like this, Inventor fails if there are too many repeats. I came across this when searching the site:
[URL]
I can verify that this is my exact problem but can add that in my example, 4 repeats on the almost horizontal axis and 3 on the vertical work fine. However, 3 almost horizontal axis repeats by 4 vertical axis repeats will only work if I choose the vertical axis as Direction 2. (Is this a bug or am I trying to use the Rectangular Pattern Tool incorrectly?)
The repeat unit can be simplified to 1 circle with 2 construction lines along the repeat Direction instead of the 2x2 circles shown here but the problem persists. Also

Normally you can do this with hatchedit -> options -> create separate hatches.
also "HPSEPARATE" on the command.
How can I separate the already drawn hatches in a drawing with vba?
I can't find such a method.

I started with AutoCAD 9.I thought that until recently, that I could draw a line from parts of a hatch.
I could draw a line perpendicular to a hatch line.Or, I could draw a line from an intersection of hatch lines.Did I change a setting?Or have I imagined being able to do such?

Often i hatch two areas separately. is there any way to combine 2 adjacent hatches? for e.g. there are two adjacent rectangles which are hatched with same pattern having the same scale. if i make the shape into a one single rectangle by trimming the middle line, i want to combine the two hatch into a one single hatch.
