We are in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012. When we try to change something in a layers we created and it is telling us the layer is read only. The other day I shut the program down and reopened it and it started working. Today the same thing happened. What has caused this one layer to be read only?
View 0 RepliesI happily used Gimp 2.4 and 2.6 for quite some time on my laptop.Now I have downloaded and installed Gimp 2.8 it won't open any files for me - when I try to open a file it returns an error message "no disc in the drive" about a disc drive I don't believe I have.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling (two weeks later) and the same bug recurred.

Everytime I change the color of a layer in the layer manager, It takes several trys before it will take, Quite Frustrating!
Color are set to "by layer" so that is not the issue.
I have set layer settings to a PLINE in model space. The layer is unfrozen and turned on but i cannot see the properties associated with the line, it juist remains white. for example i want the pline to be magenta and global width to = 2. After i set those properties the line will show thickness of 2 but not magenta unless i move the line a little from its position then it turns magenta. However if i do anything else to the line then it turns back to white.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy LT 2012 for Mac does not show a tool for "display all layers" in the layer pallet. I've fished around for some option to add this tool or expand the upper row of existing tools, but can't seem to find it. Does this feature exist in LT for Mac? If so, any guidance on how to make this tool active? Right now, I have to select all layers in the panel and then click the display button of one to change all selected, but I notice in tutorials for Windows based versions there is an icon for this function.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt happens when you turn on layer manager to adjust each layer settings such as name, line type or color and etc.
Problem is that each layer row disappears and each time it happens, only solution I know is to restart the computer. See the attached image.
How to change the color of layer that will be used within a drawing files for special purposes.
Ideally the code will make the color Red, but change to Black prior to printing.
The "logic" behind the code currently is to differentiate a layer called "Burn" to a highly visible color for the purpose of review by others then, prior to printing, change the color to Black. The firm I'm currently working for uses gray-scale B sided printers only. The firm currently uses Blue for dimension and extension lines so to produce drawings that portray both type of objects "lightly".
i have my layer named in Chinese in max 2012,and i opened the same file in max 2013, and the layer name got garbled?is this a bug or how do i fix it?

We have a problem with using our AutoCAD LT 2012 on our the network:
If a folder on the network is for the designer read-only, AutoCAD file open and reports the error "drawing file is not valid". Designers who have write-access to this folder open files with the same version AutoCAD (LT 2012) without a problem. If I add write-access right to users to this folders, he open it fine.
The problem is only with network folders (sharing Win2008 server); if it is a local folder with read-only access, AutoCAD will recognize it and offer opening for reading only. This version (LT 2012 SP2) has apparently some problem with access to network folders with read-only rights.
If the file is opened via the "Open read-only" from the pull-down menu in the Open AutoCAD dialogue, it works well. This approach is however very inconvenient - designer finds a link to a file in our information system, he wants to open the file, but get the above error.
Copy the file to local disk isnt usually possible, because of using XREFs files, which he also need to load.
The problem is possibly in an attempt to create a DWL file. We didn't use the function WhoHas, so that a possible solution would be to disable the creation of these DWL files. But this option in ACad LT 2012 isnt possible.Is is solution to migrate to new AutoCAD LT 2014?

Save a drawing, and close AutoCAD.
Open drawing on another computer, and it says file is in use, and asks if I would like to open as read-only.
The problem is consistent, and happens even if I wait a few minutes to open the file after closing it on the other computer.
I would like to make windows service (.NET C#), which would watch directory changes and read dwg extents, if file extension was .dwg.
Is this possible to make on machine, where autocad isn't installed?
Im having issues when plotting a PDF. Im plotting using the DWG to PDF.pc3. The text in the CAD file looks awesome, clean and crisp. When I send it out to a PDF and I cant read the text. Its being plotted at custom paper size - 72x72 as requested. A PDF is attached.

My issue is that these files have been exported to a newer format than my ACAD2000 is able to open and I really need to be able to get at these to be able to work on them.
Willing to open these 3 floor plans in ACAD2012 and save them as an ACAD2000 file format...

I need to send a drawing to a client but don't want them to be able to edit it, but want them to be able to xref into their drawings.
I have added the dwg to autodesk 360 but it does not show any of the xref files (it has 8 and they are necessary).
I cant seem to work out how to DWF, can you save as dwf in infinite model space or does it always come out as a layout? I would like if I could save it as a dwf and for it to function like a dwg in model space.
I've been given a dwg file to work with but it's read only so I can't save my work! How can I solve this? Is it possible to convert the file so I can save it?

I installed AutoCAD 2013. I have done a few projects on it and everything worked fine. But today after getting a project part way completed I saved it and closed it, then moved on to something else. When I came back to it to work on it some more, it told me that it was in use and that I could only open it as a "Read Only".
It was not open by anything other CAD pragrams or anything. What is the problem here.The only way it seems I can work on it again is to do a reboot. I dont want to do this all the time.
