Has used data for their naming scheme when creating a mapbook? I imported a SHP file with the "GRID_ID" that I want to use as the sheet name. I have tried to use it but I get an error. "Error updating Map Book. Expression unable to be evaluated".Â

Keep getting error that I cannot use grid naming scheme. Added rectangles for the custom grid system, have used by area before but it doesn't utilitze the full viewport. Want to use column/row naming scheme but it won't allow.

I am working in Civil 3d 2012. Right now, we have about 5-6 different people using this software in the office. Each person has their own likes/dislikes for layer colors (also for their display color). BUT we all want to plot with the same lineweights.Â
What happens is the surveyor creates the drawing and existing layers (with a template). The engineer then uses the same drawing to design and create contours. The drafter then uses the same drawing to clean things up for final printing. So we have roughly 3 people using the same drawing. But the surveyor uses a black display and anything that is blue doesn't show up well, so they have it on one the lightest lineweights. I (the drafter) use a gray display have have no problem with blue so it's one of my darker lineweights.
What I'm hoping to do is create some kind of a scheme that would allow the user to simply change the color scheme (on screen) to match their likings. Similar to the User Interface. For instance in User 1 scheme, Color 8 = Blue. Then we can have multiple plot tables that would correspond to the colors.Â
We have a Civil 3D surface using contours which are coloured according to the elevation. But when we do a surface legend, and use contours, it just numbers the contours instead of using the colours. Ever created a surface table with the colours of each contour elevation?
I am trying to create a baseline assembly driven by ilogic. When the baseline gets changed, most of the parts get replaced, but a few change size. I would like to re-name the top level assembly, as well as the parts and sub assemblies that change. We use a Vault sequential numbering scheme. How do I extract the next number from the sequence from Vault in iLogic?
I've downloaded the RAL number colour scheme and imported into the styles editor. How to access from within Inventor to actually use a RAL number to colour a part ?
chaning my UI theme etc. But upon saving any kind of UI elements etc i get a error saying that the file is not writable, i want to overwrite the one makes reads when loading.
I need to name about 200 PDFs with the sheet title of that dwg, without having to manually naming each one. Niether the file name nor the layout tab have the current sheet title. So how can i either rename the layout tab with the sheet title or name the PDF with the sheet title??
This is in AutoCAD P&ID but a solution in regular CAD is useful.
I was wondering if it was possible to make my drawing views more streamlined.
Currently, when I add a drawing view, the part number and scale is pulled from the part and scale chosen. So this is good; but I would like to get the styles editor to add the actual view of the part into its name.
For example, if I choose the top view, the naming should look like the following:
TOP VIEW
XXXX-XX
SCALE: X/X
So basically I'd like to know if its possible to pull that information and display it in the naming text box. I would assume this is possible as all the other parts are possible, I don't see why this isn't an automatic default.
I use autocad MEP and we plot to Single PDF's. Currently the files are plotted and named with Sheet number and sheet title (E-1 Electrical Specifications). However now they want to see the Project Title listed in the file name as well. Is there away to have autocad plot to single pdf with a naming convention such as ("Project Title - E-1 Electrical Specifications" etc.)
I currently use a batch file renamer to rename the files before sending out via email but that is tedious.
How does IV recognize iMate naming. I am trying to use specific named iMates on parts that when placed in the assembly that they can be placed in the correct postions. What I have run into is that no matter how I name the iMates I can place a part with one iMate name on a non-matching named iMate. Ex.- 1601-1 will mate with 2201-1 using the alt-Drag method. (These two iMates are both insert types.) This happens sometimes using the "Use iMate" checkbox on the place component dialog. I thought that the naming and type of iMate dictated what mates with what not just type.
We are implementing the vault and do not want to have to rename each file with design copy.
Any way where the filename of a part will change according to either assembly pararmenters or iProperties?
Another question I had would be involving a rule that would rename each ipt within an assembly by giving at a suffix/prefix once the assembly is completed.
I attached the pic. You'll see the colors range from different shades of teal to black.
I would like to change it so it ranges from a yellow/green to black instead of the teal.
Is there a way to do this? I found the color range tool, but I can't get it to do anything. After reading the help file on the color range tool I'm not sure this is even the right tool.
I created a color scheme based on the Department parameter. I've named them accordingly and assigned colors to my liking. I've created Department types for Circulation, Classroom, Core, Elevator, and so on. Now I want to change the value of Classroom to Student / Instructional. I can't seem to change the value with in the editing dialog for the Color Scheme. Also when I change on of the Departments to the new name it creates another color and value.  How do I change the name of a value once placed?
I'm more used to Photoshop, their basically both the same things, except when I had Photoshop I had a grey color scheme. Like you know the background behind the image, the tools and all of that?  Is there any way I can change the color scheme to say dark grey? I'm a lot more used to it, and colors affect my performance a lot.Â
Is there an option to eliminate AutoCAD from automatically inserting the layout tab name into the file name when creating a PDF? Once upon a time it would only use the file name (i.e. A-101). Now it uses "A-101_Layout1" (or whatever the layout name is) by default. I either have to live with it or manually change each file name during the process of creating the PDF or after it's been created.
I am batch publishing .idw files to .dwf and the default file name that it creates is XXXXX.idw.dxf. how to remove the .idw? Is there is setting in Task Scheduler that can be changed?
I just created some new content center libraries for different grade bolts. I set up the part number and file number to read how I would like. When I add a bolt from my library the part name is not what I would like. It seems to be the Family Name followed by the Size Designation. Is there anyway I can get this to be the File Name that I modified in the Family Table? Â
Need naming my parts and assemblies so i wont have trouble later finding I have numbers or names that get repeated. Need naming or diving my parts and assemblies.?
We are in the process of setting a naming convention for all the various parts we use, and having changed the Inventor library already, the Autocad stations (ver 2011 mechanical) are next. While I won't be the one doing this work, I want to get a jump on it as it's impeding my current work. The problem is, I don't even know where to start looking. We would be starting with the fastener library, changing the standard descriptions to suit our new convention.
If there is any reference material out there that is useful with regards to naming conventions within Civil 3d. I am getting better at naming everything, When you have a busy drawing with lots of feature lines, alignments, assemblies, corridors etc, it can get pretty confusing sometimes.
I've to give all my file the same name as the part number also the ones that are generated by design accelerator.
For a shaft I would copy a shaft, rename it and insert it back in the assembly, I noticed that often the old name keeps popping up as you can see at the picture attached. Besides partnumbers and filenames there is also such a wierd thing as default name... this sometimes pops up but I don't now how to control that name, or why it is even there in the first place.
It's good practice to keep within certain color schemes for a business.. for brand recognition etc. But my problem is i started a company, and my first stop was the logo and website. I found a color scheme which i loved on screen.. its blue (#265E81) and dark grey (#272727) Â I created a website aorund these colors. I then created business cards using these colors. And invoices. And letterheads. Now to my shock, the dark grey is So unreadable when ontop of the blue when printed out. Its clear as day on screen.... any screen. But just not on print. The blue becomes ALOT darker on print. Â I do have slight understanding of setting up a document for print... such as 300dpi, and CMYK etc. But it doesn't make a difference to my final print. Â Is there a method that i can find the color that will look like my blue on screen.. once printed out? Im tempted to just brighten up the blue on all documents intended for print... but that doesnt seem very proffesional or standard. Â how do other companies pick their color schemes. Do they test there schemes on print aswell as screens before going ahead with it? I just see companies having the exact same color whether i see it on my screen or on a printed document.
I have an image of a seed that is currently black and whit and I would like to make it beige but keep the original... well ?texture? Don’t really know what to call it.... but the look of the seed. Basically I want it to look exactly the same except in a different colour.
I assumed from the scheme manual that procedure-overloading (in the form of different numbers of arguments) was permitted, since, for example, there are two versions of string->number.However, I can't seem to get it to work.Anything special one needs to do to overload?
If you take the following code and run it in the script-fu console, it works;but replacing all occurrances of "foo2" with "foo" gets into an infinite loop (I guess; it never returns, in any case). Is this just a user-error mistake,or is there something different needed to overload a procedure definition?I realize the two arg definition had to appear before the one arg definitionwhich used it; if the order is wrong I get the wrong # args error, which makes sense.
