Photoshop :: Company Color Scheme For Web And Print?
Dec 17, 2012
It's good practice to keep within certain color schemes for a business.. for brand recognition etc. But my problem is i started a company, and my first stop was the logo and website. I found a color scheme which i loved on screen.. its blue (#265E81) and dark grey (#272727)
Â
I created a website aorund these colors. I then created business cards using these colors. And invoices. And letterheads. Now to my shock, the dark grey is So unreadable when ontop of the blue when printed out. Its clear as day on screen.... any screen. But just not on print. The blue becomes ALOT darker on print.
Â
I do have slight understanding of setting up a document for print... such as 300dpi, and CMYK etc. But it doesn't make a difference to my final print.
Â
Is there a method that i can find the color that will look like my blue on screen.. once printed out? Im tempted to just brighten up the blue on all documents intended for print... but that doesnt seem very proffesional or standard.
Â
how do other companies pick their color schemes. Do they test there schemes on print aswell as screens before going ahead with it? I just see companies having the exact same color whether i see it on my screen or on a printed document.

I'm using photoshop 8 CS,
I attached the pic. You'll see the colors range from different shades of teal to black.
I would like to change it so it ranges from a yellow/green to black instead of the teal.
Is there a way to do this? I found the color range tool, but I can't get it to do anything. After reading the help file on the color range tool I'm not sure this is even the right tool.

Now I want to know that is there any other good color schemer available or I am using a good one, I searched internet but didn't get any good one.
How you use a color scheme for your projects? do u use any color schemer like these or you use any other technique.

While I generally have moved to the new darker color scheme, I find that sometimes (depending on a number of factors), I like/prefer to work in the light color scheme.
Â
It would be great if the color schemes could be assigned keyboard shortcut to toggle between themes, or if they could be saved in a Workspace.

Is there a way to set the default color scheme to RGB?
Every time I start a new document, the color scheme is set to CMYK. I don't see a setting for it in "Settings"

I created a color scheme based on the Department parameter. I've named them accordingly and assigned colors to my liking. I've created Department types for Circulation, Classroom, Core, Elevator, and so on. Now I want to change the value of Classroom to Student / Instructional. I can't seem to change the value with in the editing dialog for the Color Scheme. Also when I change on of the Departments to the new name it creates another color and value.Â
Â
How do I change the name of a value once placed?

I'm more used to Photoshop, their basically both the same things, except when I had Photoshop I had a grey color scheme. Like you know the background behind the image, the tools and all of that?
Â
Is there any way I can change the color scheme to say dark grey? I'm a lot more used to it, and colors affect my performance a lot.Â

Revit 2013. I Â Set up a color scheme for rooms. Â colors are fine but the colors go to middle of walls (interior and exterior) even tho walls are set to room bounding. Â Room and area calcs set to wall finish but in plan view and in sheet view the colors go to wall centers. Â Plotting the colors override/cover wall graphics. Created a quick "dummy" project using masonry walls and it worked fine.
Also, if you link a revit file with additional rooms how do you add those to color schedule? Cant jus add room in host file - says its not properly enclosed. Â putting room in the linked file doesn't seem to allow room to be read/scheduled/displayed by name/number-just shows the room X with a + sign in middle. Â Adding color to linked file gets nothing but I want it controled in host anyway.

I am sourcing icons from various places and trying to tweak to suit my needs. Tweaking involves removing or adding an element and applying a consistent color scheme. I am wanting all my icons to be a particular shade of blue.
Â
The problem I'm facing is that some original icons are lighter than the other, so when I apply a color scheme although the color changes, they don't look to belong from the same family. How can I apply color scheme of one icon to the other?

I am working in Civil 3d 2012. Right now, we have about 5-6 different people using this software in the office. Each person has their own likes/dislikes for layer colors (also for their display color). BUT we all want to plot with the same lineweights.Â
What happens is the surveyor creates the drawing and existing layers (with a template). The engineer then uses the same drawing to design and create contours. The drafter then uses the same drawing to clean things up for final printing. So we have roughly 3 people using the same drawing. But the surveyor uses a black display and anything that is blue doesn't show up well, so they have it on one the lightest lineweights. I (the drafter) use a gray display have have no problem with blue so it's one of my darker lineweights.
What I'm hoping to do is create some kind of a scheme that would allow the user to simply change the color scheme (on screen) to match their likings. Similar to the User Interface. For instance in User 1 scheme, Color 8 = Blue. Then we can have multiple plot tables that would correspond to the colors.Â

I've got an issue where changing the color in one area plan scheme (future/left) removes the scheme legend from a completely separate area plan (existing/right). Â Attached are the screen shots of what I'm describing. Â This only happens when we change any of the colors in the future/right-hand scheme. Â All we have to do to get the scheme back on the other area plan is to click on the blank box, edit and reassign the correct scheme (the only one on the list), but had we not caught this, we would have published these without the colors on the one plan, so that's problematic. Â I'm wondering why--perhaps a glitch or something?
Â
This happens in multiple users' programs.

I want to color cut/fill using red/greens schemes.
I want to use "interval with datum" method, and 2' intervals.
That gives like 20 rows for cut and fill, and so c3d applies one red to 5 rows, then next red to another 5, and so on.
I could pick colors by hand, but that dumb dialog is so slow, and its not easy to visually pick a nice gradation.
Is there no way to say "step from this color to that"?
Even when I do get all set up, I am finding performance of displaying the 2d solids takes forever.
I obviously have a large surface, but that is why we pay for good software right?
I am on c3d 2012 on a fast 64 bit win 7 machine. [URL]

I was wondering what is the best way to save a photoshop file such as a business card or stationary labels so they "KEEP" their color you see on screen.
I am already building in CMYK mode. My Client has a nice gray scale scheme but I am worried that the print shop will mess up the colors.
How do I create a custom set of colors and adhere to that scheme throughout the clients stationary and media.
ie. Cards, Labels, Signs, etc.
Is there an option to print a color scale along with the image, sorta like when you calibrate your printer?

I'm having an issue with Autocad LT 2010 where when I xref in my title block which has our company logo in color, the logo will only print in black and white. If i open just the title block and print it, it will then print in color. I only seem to have this problem when the title block is xref'd in. I downloaded the 2012 demo version of AutoCadLT and it prints just fine? This has just started happening when my computer was upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit.

I'm trying to come up with a Logo for our small engineering company. The company name is (CHJ Incorporated). We do soils related work in southern california. We are looking for something very simple, professional, and something to focus on the CHJ letters. Perhaps just a great new font, etc. So far, our internal ideas have all been focused on just the CHJ letters with font changes and shading.

To make a long story short, is photoshop what I should use to create it? I'd like it to be scalable, vector I believe it's called, but wouldn't Illustrator be a better choice for this? The logo will probably be some fancy text, with a bit of a effect, and a very simple identification mark.

I'm working on recreating my uncles Marketing Campaign, Vinyl Decals, business cards the lot! So I'm looking for the recreation of the logo itself.
It's attached so how I can recreate the shadow all around "patco". It's really sharp on the edges of the shadow and I'm just not able to recreate it. I tried drop shadows and that didn't work. How to do a wrap without the top bending either.

I have to duplicate a Logo that was created for a company. The files used to create the original are not available to me, but that's another story.
Any since quite a bit of the logo is the actual name, is it better to use something like illustrator for the logo instead of photoshop.

I upgraded from CS5 on XP to CS6 hosted on Windows 7, 64 bit. Images loaded into my new CS6 system from my camera or the web display and print perfectly. I am using the same printer for CS6 as I did for CS5, an Epson 3800.Â
However, when I open and print older CS5 generated images using CS6, the images print with what appears to be reversed grey tones and off color but the monitor displayed colors appear just as good as they did on CS5. In summary, images generated in CS6 print ok, but images generated under my old CS5 system print with off colors using CS6 but display ok.Â

I was getting great photo prints from my Epson 870 = colors matched what I expected well enough to satisfy me (it doesn't take much! )
But recently, everything I print FROM PHOTOSHOP has a pinkish cast. I wish I could say "I've only changed one thing" between "when it was good" and "now it isn't" but there is too much water under the bridge for that. I CAN tell you that I installed Epson's "PIM II" system trying to solve an unrelated problem, realized it didn't solve it, and de-installed it. I believe the problems happened after that - but even if I could point the finger at it, I'm not sure I'd know what to do.
I've been trying to eliminate variables, so I gave up on photographs I simply wanted to print, and created an image from scratch I want to use anyway. (I plan to use it when I shoot photos to confirm exposures, set white balance, etc.) This document was created in 8-bit RGB and assigned the "working space" profile, which I have set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1. This is the same profile I have been using, that I have assigned to my photos, etc - - and prefer not to screw with because it has worked for me in the past. The document has some grays I created using R=G=B, and a range of colors including pure R, G and B. You'll see in a moment.
Now - when I print this doc from PS, it gets a very pinkish cast - especially in the black-to-white gray bars. However, they look fine on the screen, and I verified their pixel values with Apple's "digital color meter" app. My monitor, by the way, is an Apple Studio Monitor, and the system is set up to use the Apple Studio Monitor profile as the colorsync profile for the monitor.
But here's the kicker. When I open and print this same document using Apple's "Preview" app, and the same print settings - it prints properly!. I conclude from this that the problem is somewhere with PS, not with the printer or other system settings.
This image (about 200K, jpeg'd, but not enough to not make the point) is a screen shot showing the same doc open in PS and Preview, along with my PS color settings dialog. I DO see a slight color difference in the way PS displays the file (particularly the blue square) - but the difference in printouts is considerably more severe.
