AutoCAD Map 3D :: Transfer Text Created In Task Pane To A Layer?
Jul 15, 2013
I am using MAP3D 2012 and have the following query. Under Task Pane and Display Manager I have added drawing data to a drawing layer. Added Style>Text and selected the Object data I want to have displayed (e.g. drawing number).
Since the drawing is going to be accessed also by users with a simple AutoCAD version I want to copy paste the text from display Manager to a Layer In layer Properties Management.
However, every time I create a new layer and copy paste the text does not appear or carry through.
getting Civil 3D to crash every time the Map Task Pane is opened from the Ribbon? if you type in MAPWSPACE, then it seems to "initiaite" it to work ok, but if you go right to the Ribbon: View tab > Palettes panel, and click it on there, it crashes every time.
I'd like to be able to queue up a set of processes using Inventor's task scheduler. Ideally I'd be able to queue it, leave, and have it done in the morning.
The process is this:
1. Check Inventor dwg files out from vault 2. migrate files to 2013 3. Run drawing resource transfer wizard 4. Check files back in 5. Export all files to AutoCAD dwg format
How can I queue step 3 to run through task scheduler? DRTW is not an option in the task scheduler. I'll be giving it the same settings to use every time.
I'm having issues with Civ3d 2013. I pushed off upgrading from 2012 because of the format change and the service pack release. I was hoping little glitches would be fixed.
Here are the a couple of glitches to date that I have seen no resolution to in the long list of threads.
1. Layer filters do not filter, unless I have checked "Apply filter to toolbar". The problem is, I dont want to apply them to the toolbar.
2. Publishing to PDF - when set to lines merge (set in the page layout and the publish setting), the wipeouts dont work, and the background masks on leaders makes a faint border around the text in the PDF. When set to overwrite, to get the wipeouts to not print to the PDF as a big black blob, they have to be on a layer set to color 255. I can work around most of the wipeouts, except for dimensions because the background mask doesn't seem to take.
I have a .NET plugin that loads an ArcSDE geodatabase layer programmatically using AcMapMap.LoadLayer(layerFilepath). I have been trying to programmatically remove the layer from the Task Pane using AcMapMap.GetLayers().Remove(layer), but this function is returning 'false' and is not removing the layer.
Just passing along this preview "glitch" in CS5 that could cause some headaches or costly reprints.
We had a file where some text "appeared"on screen as a solid fill even though it was mistakenly filled with a gradient in the colour panel.
When the job was output the type was missing.
Upon investigation it was noted the text was filled with a gradient through the color panel....however the preview did not reflect this. The proper way to apply a gradient to text is in the appearance panel> add new fill>gradient.
This will preview the gradient in the text properly. Shouldn't there be an friendly error message or pop up to warn users that this fill option is not available?
Is there a way to change the functionality of the layers so that when a new layer is created or a layer is duplicated that it automatically is created below the selected layer? I always organize my files with elements at the top of the document at the top of the layers panel and have them in decending order (unless there is a reason for an object to be above another) so that it is easier to navigate the page. Right now this means I spend a lot of time moving layers up and down which gets rather annoying. I believe I saw at one point that there is a key command for duplicating a layer below the existing one, but I can't remember how anymore. ability to make a blanket change in preferences.
Is it possible to transfer a layer mask from one layer to another layer in PS7.0.1? I am following tutorials in Restoration & Retouching by Katrin Eismann. On p. 350 one reads: "To transfer the layer mask from the Selective Color adjustment layer to the Hue/Saturation layer, Option/Alt-drag the Selective Color adjustment layer mask into the slot of the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer." Is this something that can be done only in CS and CS2?
I have to transfer my auto cad plans to Photoshop. Im trying to export each layer into eps format and then open in Photoshop. But some layers are not showing up... What should i do?
When I create design points, they will not display until I thaw a layer that the survey points are on. I have double checked these settings: On Toolspace Settings tab, under Points-Commands-CreatePoints, Default Layer is "C-P-POINTS-TEMP". Default Style is set to Point Style=SPOTS-TEMP, and Point Label Style is set to TEMP-POINT#-ELEVATION-DESCRIPTION. When I check these styles, they are both set to the layer "C-P-POINTS-TEMP". Yet every point I create ends up on the layer "C-E-POINTS_FIELDWORK_11-14-11.
I have a drawing with alot of blocks in it. All the blocks are were created on layer Default and I want to change that to 0. is there a command that will do this, so that i dont have to open every block?
Is there a way to control what layer a site is created on?
I am surprised I hadn't noticed until now that a site is actually an AECC_PARCEL In 2012 it comes in on the current layer. This causes some undesirable behavior. If your current layer is locked you are unable to create a site. If you later lock the layer the site is on you are prevented from changing site properties. I found it when I could not purge a layer because it contained the site.
We have one template that we use for starting all our drawings. This contains all of our layers, layer filters and most commonly used blocks.
Then we have a template file called "Titleblocks" -- this contains one layout for each different size border as well as vport definitions for Plan, Profile or P&P.
When I used the C3D P&P tool to create my sheets, it of course used the Titleblocks template which means that the filters are lost. Is there a relatively simple way to add those filters to my sheets? Each sheet is a layout in a separate dwg file.
We have a client with very strict layer name standards for AutoCAD. I have created a .txt file for locating the Revit elements on the correct layers when converting to .dwg files. The problem is the new layers created in AutoCAD during the conversion include a "3D" prefix which we then have to go in and manually eliminate. Is there any way to avoid this, it totally disagrees with the client's naming standards?
I'm having a bit of a problem struggling with creating new dimension style using vee bee dot net, in AutoCAD 2010 environment. I am particularly trying to figure out how to set the newly created dimension style to color white, and to assign it a specific layer (for example, a layer called "test"). What the code syntax is to accomplish this?
I post the code below for what I have done thus far:
Public Shared Sub addDimensionStyle(ByVal strDimStyle As String) Dim acDb As Database = HostApplicationServices.WorkingDatabase Using acTrans As Transaction = acDb.TransactionManager.StartTransaction() Dim dimTbl As DimStyleTable = acDb.DimStyleTableId.GetObject(OpenMode.ForWrite) Dim dimTblRec As DimStyleTableRecord = Nothing
I have blocks that were created on one layer but inserted on another layer. So, when i turn the layer off that the blocks were inserted on they remain visible because you have to turn off the layer they were created on to have them disappear. Is there a way for me to determine what layer the blocks were created on?
Opened a 3rd party drawing and created a new layer for space allocation boundaries. this new layer has the default lineweight. when i draw a line, all is ok. when I draw a polyline. its really thick and not the default lineweight.
I want to do is add a shoulder from a portrait session. i cannot open 2 images in Photoshop at the same time, before in cs4 I could why cant i do it now. how do i transfer a layer from one image to another?
we have a good size project going on with lots of view ports of a base map (floor plan or site plan). Then we set the viewport layers the way we would like it, but along the way, we keep getting updated base maps (floor plan or site plan) with new layer created in them. These newly created layers are for the originator and will not affect our project.
Is there a way to have our project set to ignore any newly created layer from the originator of the base files? That is, we have our project (viewport layers) set the way we want it. When we get an updated base file, replace the xref(s), our layer state will still be the same, ignoring any newly created layer, automatically. I sure hope I am clear enough here.
Our problem is that when we get a new base file, then we would have to go to every file that has a viewport related to this new base file and turn off the new layers.
Is there a way to turn off the box it makes you create before placing text? I would ideally like to click the "A" button for text and then start typing. I was hoping that AutoCAD could automatically generate the shape around the text on it's own instead of me having to create it first.
I have a PSD from a designer where they created icons using "darken" or "multiply" modes over a background, such as this:
However, since it will get on a CSS gradient, I need to extract the icons as a transparent PNG file, which of course gets me this in the web browser:
I can't just flatten it with the background, since the background is a gradient AND I need to be able to adjust the image's position in HTML. Also there, are several instances of this situation in the design. The best way to do this is to have a transparent PNG of each icon. But, how can I first get the artwork at least close to the way it appears in Photoshop (in darken mode over red)?
I am new to VBA for Autocad and have basic knowledge of Autocad, but have experience with VBA with EXCEL. I am trying to search for text written on to a drawing that has been written as plain text. There is no table. I am writing code to open each drawing in the file as a for each next loop and then find text, then copy text to a table cell, in a table set up within the loop statement. Then I intend to transfer the data to Excel. When I copy the text into the cells of the table and transfer to Excel, the text does not transfer. Is there something I need to do to re-format the text copied straight from the drawing into the table cell. The drawngs have been produced by some external drafting service provider, most likely in India. The functionality of Autocad has not been used and therefore, there are no tables. The text titles, sub-titles etc... are just basically text with lines drawn around them, to simulate a table that looks like a table but are infact not.
My main problem is copying the plain text (titles, sub-titles, references etc...) into a table cell for export to Excel. Any knowledge of copying Autocad plain text to Autocad table cells
