I am particularly trying to figure out how to set the newly created dimension style to color white, and to assign it a specific layer (for example, a layer called "test"). What the code syntax is to accomplish this?
I post the code below for what I have done thus far:
Public Shared Sub addDimensionStyle(ByVal strDimStyle As String)
Dim acDb As Database = HostApplicationServices.WorkingDatabase
Using acTrans As Transaction = acDb.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()
Dim dimTbl As DimStyleTable = acDb.DimStyleTableId.GetObject(OpenMode.ForWrite)
Dim dimTblRec As DimStyleTableRecord = Nothing

Just installed the new CS6. I'm experimenting with Illustrator. I feel a little dumb asking this, but ALL of my newly drawn paths, brush strokes, objects etc. keep automatically shifting to the bottom of the layer instead of like usual, appearing at the top. Is there a way to turn this off? Revert back to normal?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwe have a good size project going on with lots of view ports of a base map (floor plan or site plan). Then we set the viewport layers the way we would like it, but along the way, we keep getting updated base maps (floor plan or site plan) with new layer created in them. These newly created layers are for the originator and will not affect our project.
Is there a way to have our project set to ignore any newly created layer from the originator of the base files? That is, we have our project (viewport layers) set the way we want it. When we get an updated base file, replace the xref(s), our layer state will still be the same, ignoring any newly created layer, automatically. I sure hope I am clear enough here.
Our problem is that when we get a new base file, then we would have to go to every file that has a viewport related to this new base file and turn off the new layers.

I am having an issue with trying to get and xref or multiple xrefs attached/overlayed in a drawing that I just create.
I have a command that will create a sheet set, then add sheets in that sheet set based on a number the user puts in.
I then ask the user if they want to add xrefs to the drawings, if they press yes, I want to have the dwgs that are selected by the user to be referenced into the newly created dwgs.
I believe I am mising making the dwg that is created the active dwg before adding the xrefs, but I may also be missing locking the dwg. At the moment I have it set to open the dwg after it is created then attempting to add the xrefs to it.
'Starts the process of adding sheets based on the number specified
For i As Integer = 1 To info.TotalSheetNum.Value
'shows dialog box for sheet information to user
sheetinfo.ShowDialog()
'adds the sheet to the sheet set

I spent a bit of time creating a brush style to simulate a rope. Artwork was created, dragged and dropped into brushes pallet, set as pattern brush. In the AI file in which the brush was created, it is visible and available as a brush when "Show pattern brushes" is checked. However, in other AI files I cannot find this brush! I have closed all files and closed AI, reopened and still nothing.
Ubiquitous information:

Is there any way through which we can get the art handle of a newly created art, just after its creation on the document?

I am creating a new block that includes text, lines and a solid object. The block is creating properly, however, the linework is behind the solid object.
How do I control the draworder of the items in the block?
Is there a way to set the order before I create the block, OR do I have to modify the block after I have created it?
SInce upgrading from LR4 to LR5 I can no longer create a new folder in the 'destination' section of the import pane and import new images into it.
If I right-click, for example, the desktop in the 'destination' area and select 'create new folder' I can create the folder, but it doesn't then show when I return to LR for the import. I have to have already created to folder outside of LR before the import for it to show as a viable location to import to.
When I create a new watermark it will not save and gives an error. What can I do about this?

Windows 8 64bit - Ps C i have an image from a client and it's just one Layer but it's locked and i would like to be able to unlock it and also to add a new layer above it which i am also unable to do.
why this is?
i know i can re-save it so that i can add a new Layer at least but i am still curious as to why i can't unlock the Layer.
also, i am building a package of images to sell. I have Locked the Layers but still want the people that (hopefully) buy them to be able to unlock them -
is this not something i can do? must i leave all Layers unlocked? for the most part i have only done so to keep particular aspects of the images safe from being altered by new users of photoshop etc.
In Photoshop 7 how do you unlock the background layer?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI have a .psd button that has a lot of drop shadow and other affects on it. Somehow this layer has become locked.
There is the little padlock beside the layer name with the popup "Indicates layer is partially locked."
I need to change the text and color of the button, but I can't. Is there anyway to unlock the layer so I don't have to try to create a whole new one? The Lock: menu at the top of the layers tab is all greyed out (inactive).
Problem: When I create a new viewport, another viewport's paperspace blanks out or disappears. When I copy a viewport over, the new VP doesn't show anything and you can't maximize/"enter" its paperspace; it's like a simple rectangle, but the properties box says it is indeed a viewport.
Ex. Viewport 1 shows the top view of an object, Viewport 2 shows the right side view... as soon as I add Viewport 3, the top view in VP 1 blacks out. I attempt to ReDraw, Regenerate, etc, but it doesn't re-appear. I've run Plot Preview to see if maybe it's just a fluke with the graphics card on my screen, but alas, even in plot preview the viewport is blanked out.
It almost seems like there is a limited number of viewports I can use.
Solution: Run the MaxActVP command and set the value to a number greater than the number of VPs you actually need. This particular file had that value set at 2; hence, why a new, third VP blanked out the first one.
one layer in a photoshop document has a padlock on it; no clue how it got there. I can't make it go away; perhaps the method is different in CS6 than in previous versions...
Any clue about this? I can't fill a selection on this particular layer...don't know why. The layer in question IS selected, and the selection is active, etc.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am familiar with art explosion. Anyway, I recently had someone design a logo and I wanted to edit a few things on it. My problem is I downloaded that free trial of photoshop cs5 and the logo is showing up on one layer. I've tried everything to get it ungrouped or unlocked. Every tutorial just mentions unlocking the background but doesn't say anything if you have multiple objects in one layer. It has three oval shapes and the words for the business on it and another image. I'm hoping to ungroup it all but I've tried to do that and I am not able to choose ungroup or unlock because it won't let you. What are the steps for someone who doesn't really know this program to get all of the components of the logo separated. The guy apparently designed it in photoshop so I would think it would be a no brainer and I'm surprised I'm having to struggle this much to get it undone. It's a psd file.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed CS3 a few days ago (though I'm an experienced CS2 and Photoshop 6 user) and opened Photoshop CS3 Extended today for the first time.
The problem I'm having is with unlocking the background layer. I read in the documentation and on the Net about double-clicking and renaming the layer (which is what I did in other versions), or creating a new file with a transparent background, but those things aren't working for me in this version.
I opened a tiff file (a logo I want to use as the basis for a new image) but I can't unlock the background layer so I can copy, manipulate or add to it. Everything on the Layers drop-down menu is grayed out, as are the word Lock: and the symbols following it in the Layers window.
I tried creating a new image but when File|New dialog box opens the option to use transparent in the Background Contents dropdown is grayed out, too.
I cannot unlock a background in layers, nor did I ever ask it to lock. The next step is a small fire.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change the functionality of the layers so that when a new layer is created or a layer is duplicated that it automatically is created below the selected layer? I always organize my files with elements at the top of the document at the top of the layers panel and have them in decending order (unless there is a reason for an object to be above another) so that it is easier to navigate the page. Right now this means I spend a lot of time moving layers up and down which gets rather annoying. I believe I saw at one point that there is a key command for duplicating a layer below the existing one, but I can't remember how anymore. ability to make a blanket change in preferences.

Can't do that above? My button stays with the original color it was created.
Suppose I have carefully made a selection and saved it as a channel. I then use that channel in an adjustment layer as a mask. I also use the inverse of that channel in another adjustment layer.
At this point do I have three separate masks inside photoshop: the original channel, and two others that are layer masks? If I then see that the original mask wasn't quite right so I do a refine mask on one of the layer masks. I haven't, I think, changed the original channel, right? But I'd like to use the inverse of that channel in the other adjustment layer.
This gets pretty messy pretty fast, especially because I'm working on a very large image. After I modify the layer mask should I save it off as a separate named channel (it doesn't seem to be accessible unless the layer it's on is active) and then invert that, save it, and reload it as the layer mask for the other adjustment layer?

In Photoshop CS5 I created a long action list which include lots of Shapes. I saved these action sets and loaded them into CS6. and they kept failing saying they couldn't find layer "Shape 1" "Shape 2" etc . this is because in CS6 the layers are now called "Rectangle 1" "Elipse 1" etc . How can I get this to revert back to the "Shape 1, 2, 3, 4 etc etc".

Set myLayer = myDoc.Layers.Add()
Set myLayer.Name = "cad"
I'm not able to rename the created layer ?
