Photoshop CC (Newest update) crashes every time I double-click on a vector-layer created in Illustrator! It should automatically open the layer in Illustrator but all I see is the 'Wheel of Death'!?(OSX 10.8.4 - Adobe CC)

How can i open up in Indesign or Illustrator photoshop's vector layer. If i pool out this object from Photoshop to Indesign or Illustrator this is rendering object. Why? It's vector object!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI realize this is probably simple, but I have taken a simple graphic pattern jpeg and I've used image trace to trace it in Illustrator CS6.
But when I try and select parts of the vector is just selects the entire image in a single big box.
How can I break it apart so that the individual vector parts and be copied, pasted, edited and so on?
A client has asked me to send a file with the type on a separate layer which he refers to as "vector mapped". I know that I can lay in an AI type layer and save the file as an open .PSD file, or lay it in as a vector smart object and send it as an open TIFF file (along with the original AI file), but the client is using CS2 and can't deal with VSOs. The way around it, of course, is via a layered AI file with a placed image, but what is he referring to with hte term "vector map"?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSince last thursday we have been having major issues opening files from our network share on server 2012. Everytime we go to open an .ai it hangs illustrator for about 15-20 seconds?
This has only started happening to all 3 machines we have
Our network is 1GB links, 2 of our computers are massive spec, i5's 16gb ddr3 1600, ssds......., other one slightly older ddr2 no ssd (problem exists on them all)
If we drag the file to the desktop then open, this is instant but reading from the server is being a nightmare!
A client sent an Illustrator CS6 file to me that I can't open, even though I am also on CS6. He is on a PC and has v 17.0. I am on a Mac with v 16.2.1. I don't see an update higher than that for Mac. Does he need to backsave the file to CS5?

I created a file in Illustrator CS6 (v. 16.0.0), and saved it as an (editable) PDF. When I try to reopen that same PDF inside Illustrator CS6, however, I get a "Could Not Open The File" error. The file opens in Acrobat just fine, but I need to continue editing/working on it. Opening it in 5.1 works but it's all flat and not ideal for editing. Renaming the extension to .eps or .ai didn't work, either. I also looked into potential font conflicts (none) and restarted my Mac (OS 10.7.5) to no avail.

I feel a little dumb asking this, but ALL of my newly drawn paths, brush strokes, objects etc. keep automatically shifting to the bottom of the layer instead of like usual, appearing at the top. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am "vector tracing" a logo in PSP, and exporting it to Motionstudio 3D for an explosion effect. I am currently able to do this with no issue, but the explosion effect (specifically the size and shape of the particles) is based on connecting the nodes in a vector object. For example, if I have a capital L made up of 10 nodes, the subsequent explosion effect with separate the L into particles based on the 10 nodes. What I want to do is have the various nodes that comprise the traced letter connect with constituent nodes in the center/surface-area of the letter to form a "grid" (in PSP) so that the subsequent explosion (after export to Motionstudio) is comprised of more/smaller particles. Is there a way of not only having a vector object with "fill", but also having that "fill" made up of other vector data?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change the functionality of the layers so that when a new layer is created or a layer is duplicated that it automatically is created below the selected layer? I always organize my files with elements at the top of the document at the top of the layers panel and have them in decending order (unless there is a reason for an object to be above another) so that it is easier to navigate the page. Right now this means I spend a lot of time moving layers up and down which gets rather annoying. I believe I saw at one point that there is a key command for duplicating a layer below the existing one, but I can't remember how anymore. ability to make a blanket change in preferences.

Everything has been working fine but I have recently installed two new extension panels - Fundy Image Brander and Tych Panel. When either of these scripts require you to input a file to open via the Open File dialogue box, everything hangs for 2-3 minutes. The mouse and keyboard do not lock and you can open up other windows which work fine. The open file dialogue just hangs (not just on selecting an individual image but selecting a drive or folder). If you call up the Task Manager and End Photoshop as a task a dialogue box pops up with the message "The system cannot end this program because it is waiting for a response from you."
Photoshop otherwise works well. It's just when the extension panel requires you to input a file to open.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on an I5 running Windows 7 64-bit using CorelDRAW X5 ver 15.2.0.686. When I reboot my system (about once a week) and start CorelDraw, it hangs if I try to open any documents or create a new document. If I reboot again, so far, it will open documents without issue. This has been occurring for the last few (2-3) weeks. I installed and have been running the program daily on this system for about 18 months without any other unexpected issues.
I haven't had any issues with this version of CorelDraw crashing under any other regular circumstances. I've been a user since Version 2 (Late '80s early '90s)
The organizer has suddenly become unstable. When I try and open PSPX3, the organizer shows the spinning blue circle, and that just stays there forever. At the top of the program it says "not responding". I have to force the program closed. I've had PSPX3 for about six months, haven't had any problems before.
Is there something like a main thumbnail catalog file that can be deleted, so that that PXPX3 will rescan the hard drive. It acts like that catalog has become corrupt.
I haven't installed any patches in the last six months, and I can't tell you what version I have, because the program won't open.

Upgraded to 2.8 with total deletion of the Gimp folder to try to address this.
File / Open Recent works fine.
File / New etc same all good...
File / Open has a problem.
Once that window opens the product is hung.
There is no window to type the file name in, and I cannot click on any of the disk drive names.
I must admit that I have a good number of network and usb as well as physical drives. I do not think that any have changed names, but it seems clear that something like a path change is responsible?

Occasional crash and slow to open all services. I use Corel every day, cannot live without it.Runs days with many files created with no restart.Then during day of 20/May/2011 A new file saved could not be opened. ( silent no warning ),
All Old files Open OK, templates open OKany new file made since cannot be opened. No Known install or updates on the day or days prior to issue.Ran repair. I'll omit the long background --- suffice it to say I did this once and need to do it again, but can't recall the toolchain / workflow I used.
I _think_ it was Macromedia FreeHand 8, and that I used a plug-in w/in that program, but I can't recall. Any way other than rendering the drawing as a half-toned bitmap and then tracing it? Or re-drawing the image on top of such a bitmap?
I am using CS6, as is the other user. When they open the file in Illustrator all the artwork is on one layer, even though the original file has numerous layers, and opens with these layers when I open it even now.I have never come across this problem before in all the years I have used Illustrator and have had no joy when trying to search for this problem.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary. So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.

View 5 Replies View RelatedEarlier this year, I was still using CS3. I created a bunch of original TIFF files, and modified files which had been created in CS1. When I am having to go back and reference these CS3 TIFFs, some of them are giving me an error message and refusing to open. Evidently, they are not compatible with CS6?
I have since uninstalled CS3, but the box is sitting on the shelf if I need it (which I am hoping I don't). Any workaround - preferably one which will not destroy my layers.
I've got rather weird problem. PS CC on the desktop can't open PS CC .psd files created on my laptop (and vice versa) due to compatibility problems. The same relates to the .tif files. It's not corruption of the files, it's happening to every new-written file I try to move between computers. The problem appeared today, during the weekend everything was fine and I changed nothing.
