AutoCAD Map 3D :: Saving FDO Layers Into DWG Only Works In The Same PC
Oct 18, 2013
We (Our company) recently bought 9 AutoCAD Map 3D 2014 Network Licenses. Our idea is to work with a PostGIS Database where all the data will be stored, getting rid of DWG drawings.
The thing is that we don't want the users to be able to add postgis tables to the workspace, because they could add tables that we don't want them to dit. So the idea is to create DWGs with the FDO layers we want for each user. So the steps would be:
- Link the 3 postgis tables we want via FDO in the workspace.
- Save that as DWG.
- The next time i open that DWG in my PC everything is fine.
The problem is that if i put that DWG in the local network or i copy it to another user's desktop, the user opens it, there are only errors and the layers won't load.
So my conclussion is that a DWG with FDO layers only can be openned in the same PC where it was saved.
I switched from CS5 to CS6 and now everything that I save, when I go back to it, it is merged into one layer.
The layer box is checked in the save dialog. The one thing that I did do was make a pdf of of the file also in the save as menu.
I have done this a ton of times before in ealier versions and my files were never merged. what is wrong? I have put in hours of work and now I can't edit anything. Can I get the layers back?
I've been working on a picture and, of course, have been using a lot of layers. Whenever I choose to put the drawing up for a while, I'll come back to it later and notice that all my layers are gone. Is there a way to save these layers?
My layers disappear when I try to save in Photoshop CS6. They disappear when I get to the last step before saving(where you can select the quality and stuff). The effects stay, but they become kind of crappy. I was just working on some pictures one by one, and then suddenly, it started happening. I did nothing differently.Reinstalling didn't work either.
In CS3, there was an 'export to pdf' which just converted the PSD to PDF.
Now in CS4, the option is under 'save as'. The problem is when I am doing a job and want to get approval, I like to generate a low res PDF WITHOUT the option of 'preserving photoshop editing capabilities'. Otherwise, I get aa huge file.
The problem is, the document in Photoshop is now a PDF and although the layers are still showing in the layers pallet, if at that point, I do any more editing or just try to save it as a PSD, the image is automatically flattened, without any warning. I managed to lose all my work by saving AFTER I created the small PDF. why has adobe chosen to change the working document to PDF? If I save as a jpg, the document remains as a PSD file. This is very frustrating. I much prefer the export to
PDF in the CS3 version.
If CS4 is doing this, it should at least generate a warning that all layers will be merged at that time.
Doing a ecommerce website, the client has sent through over 100 logo's that need to accompany the products. The logs sent are in all different sizes....but they are all named correctly I know how to get all the files into the one photoshop file within different layers, they still hold there file name within the layer naming at this point.
I can also get them within the right canvas size for saving so everything is within the right size im looking for but i need a quicker way to save each individual layer keeping the file name rather than pressing - shift + ctrl + alt + s a houndred times to save for web and also needing to rename all the files again
To save my photo, the program ask me to merge all my layers. But what if I want to change my photo after? Is it impossible to recover my layers after saving?
To reduce file size when working with 100+ layers, can I delete multiple invisible layers before saving?
If not, is there a plug-in for this procedure? For a multi-page tutorial with over 100 layers, pdn is slow when opening or saving the file. I would like to save each page of the tutorial as a separate .pdn file for faster loading/editing/saving. Unfortunately, to save each individual page, I must delete many layers one-at-a-time which is very time consuming.
I need to delete all invisible layers before saving, to save each page separately and keep the original multi-page intact for backup until all individual pages are saved.
I recently made some frames for an animate gif with PDN, and all the frames are in layers on one PDN file. Is there any way to mass save the layers as separate gifs? The PDN file consists of 100+ layers, and I want to avoid flattening, saving, and undoing X 100
I need to make multiple duplications of the same layer. This will solve my problem, however after I get the results I want, if I merge the layers, it reverts to the look as if I only had one single layer again. This will also happen if I do not merge the layers but save it as a PDF to get it ready for print. This results in a very muddy/neutral results. I have tried to simply select the layers and copy as merge, select everything and copy merge into a new document, and flatten/merge the image. None of them worked and reverted the image to the original one layer look.
I am trying to save all the layers I have in my PSD file as separate layers in a folder that I created. I trying to do this by going to File- Scripts- Export Layers to Files but when I set it up and do this I get an error message saying:
"General Photoshop error occured. This functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop. -The command "Duplicate" is not currently available."
I am not sure why this is saying "this version" considering I installed it not too long ago and the document has been made a few days ago meaning I never even used another version of photoshop. I have all the layers visible too and even selected them. I am using Photoshop CS6 by the way.
I have assembled a wholel lot of scanned pages from my sketch pad into one psd file. That file has guides which I use to register and align every page (each page is therefore its own layer). Is there a way I can make an action and save off each individual layer as its own jpeg? I set up an action but I don't know how to get photoshop to save it with a distinct namespace. The first action I set up basically prompted me to re-name each layer as I saved it, which isn't really saving time. What I want is for the action to start at the bottom layer and turn off the visiblity of all the layers above it, save the visible layer as a jpeg with a name based on the layer and then turn on the next layer's visibitlity and repeat, until all layers have been saved.
I have been working on a layered PSD file putting together a website visual for a few weeks. Yesterday I went to save a copy of the document and in that process the file went a bit weird and some text changed colour and 5 layers had a portion of them deleted (all photos in the header area, like in the attached image). It's happened twice since yesterday, but can't seem to recreate it.
There is a bug in CS6 layer comps that does not save the appearance of layers which have had their layer style cleared.
Steps to recreate. 1. Create a black square in a new photoshop document. 2. Create a layer style on the black square and set the over layer color to red. 3. Create a layer comp and turn on "Appearance" tracking, then update the layer comp. 4. Clear the layer style for the square, it should now be black again. 5. Create a second layer comp also with "Appearance" tracking on, and update it. 6. Go back and forth between the layer comps, the layer should turn from red to black, and the layer style should disappear and reappear on the layer, in the layers panel. 7. Save and close the file. 8. Re-open the file 9. Go back and forth through the layer comps, both will show a red square. The layer style never gets cleared.
How can I back save illustrator files created in CC (CS7 version???) to CS6 without losing layers? when I open the files in CS6 it says "some info will be lost' Ha! all layers and separation is lost, so cannot separate parts whole file seems grouped and cannot be separated? When I go back to my (other) computer where I was foolish enough to upgrade to CC, way to save back as I can with InDesign and saving as a idml file.
I have a few layers and one overlay. I would like to be able to export all the layers to separate png's however can I do that with one persistent layer that is saved with every other one?
I have been doing so much research trying to figure this out. Either im missing something or its not possible.29571-saving-layers-seperate-files-one-persistent-layer
I ran across that post on this forum and that is exactly what i want to do (at end of post)Ive tried the LayerSaver jsx but it only allows selected layers and top layer and bottom background.
my bottom has to be transparent. I have an icon set that has a bottom group (that i can merge to layer) and a top group (that i can also merge to layer) and the middle contains my icons.
I know the title sounds weird, but I am having trouble keeping my levels from reverting back to their default look when saving as a jpeg or attempting to flatten or merge my layers. I can attach a link to the PDS if you would like to take a look at it. The layer that is losing its levels settings is called "Stars". I don't change my levels often, so I am sure its something I am just missing. The levels are just changes on a single layer, as stated above its the layer called "Stars".
I had my automatic save set up for every 10 minutes but files were not being saved regularly. I deleted files from the Temp folder thinking it was full and now there are no .sv$ saving at all. How can I make drawings save automatically every 10 minutes?
No command will work from the Ribbon. I've changed workspaces and tried a backup CUI file. Is my system corrupt or is there some setting that displays the ribbon, but disables the commands within it?
Something has happened and I can no longer use the DEL key to erase objects. In fact, to erase anything I have to first click the erase button then select the objects to erase.
I do not know what has changed but the select objects works differently now. For example, when 3 lines are drawn and the erase command is selected. I do a crossing window and the command line says 3 objects selected. But when I do it again and only select 2 lines, it says 2 objects selected and the 3rd line is then unselected. It used to say 2 objects selected and ignore but the total was 3.
I received a dwg file from my architect through e-mail. When I open it in Autocad LT 2004, a window pops up stating, "Drawing file is not valid." I forwarded the e-mail on to my boss with the same file and it opens perfectly on his version of Autocad LT 2004.
The only difference between our computers is that he is running Windows 7 and I am running Windows XP. The architect is running Windows 7.
I have been working in AutoCAD for 4 years and am having trouble with dimensioning. I was given a drawing that was exported from VectorWorks into a dwg. However, when I try and do my dimension in paperspace, they are not correct. They only time they seem to work is when I do the scale at 1:1. But If I redraw the object I can do whatever scale I want and it works fine.
