Added as shapefile via FDO. Labeled the features using the Style Editor. The labels show up clearly on-screen. But when plotting, either to PDF or hard copy, the labels move so that they overlap one another and are not legible.
how to keep the labels from moving? visible labels on-screen and the PDF of how the labels move when plotting.
I have labelled features in a shp file and it appears fine on the screen. They even appear when I do a print preview but when I actually plot it the labels do not print? How I can get them to print?
I am trying to label highways using the route number attribute in the dbf file associated with the shp file. I was able to label the features using the style editor and using the display manager. It seemed fine and worked great until I went to print the maps off.The labels are dynamic and scale with the drawing I am sure this has something to do with it. Is there a way to have these labels be static?
I'm using Civil 3D 2012. When it generates labels (alignment stationing, profile station & elevation, etc.), it keeps generating them in layer 0. It does not matter how I change the styles to the layer that I want.
It allows me to change the properties of the labels to the layer that I want after the labels have been generated. They look ok on my computer screen.
However, when I plot the plans, the labels do not follow the lineweights that the layer should be on. I think it still plotting as if it was layer 0. If I explode the labels, I can get them to plot correctly by changing the layer.
I've searched this Discussion Groups area on the site and have found a couple solutions. I've tried them all but I can't seem to figure out how to get ALL of my labels to display when I plot or when I export to PDF. It seems that only the POLES layer labels are having trouble showing up...
I understand scaling and it doesn't seem to be the issue. I've tried plotting under different scales, and I still get the same thing.I've attached an image showing the outcome.
On the left is the PRINT PREVIEW in AutoCAD.
On the right is the EXPORTED PDF.
I've checked in the administrator under POLE LABELS, and changed a couple things around but I can't seem to get the pole labels to show up.
How to delete all labels on a feature line? Ideally if we could just pick the line and have it's labels deleted. QSelect and Select Similar require too much interaction to be convenient.

This is the second time I’m highlighting this issue. I couldn’t figure out how to print a drawing (attached) from the lay out. What I got is a very crowded drawing as shown in the screenshots below.
I wanted to print my drawings (contour, horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, etc.) in an A4 with a scale of 1/1000 or 1/1300. Then what should be:
The annotation scale?
The viewport scale?
The plot scale?
What did I get very crowded drawing when I tried to print from the layout?

I have a feature line that is perpendicular to another and connected to it at a PI .When I modify the elevations of one of the feature lines, the labels for slope and PI elevation of the dependent feature line do not react and update without having to invoke a REGEN.

Say you have a feature line in plan view and you project it to profile view. Is there a way to label the true slope of the projected feature line segments in profile?
The profile view depth labels are not accurate since it's simply calculating the length from station to station in profile.
...and of course this does not correspond to the true segment length since the feature line is not parallel to the alignment.
I'm new to Map 3D and not to Civil 3D. I connected to a roads and streams shp file from a ArcGIS directory. Everything came in great and I even was able to get everything named all at once from the attibute directory. The problem is that the features seem to only plot in the colors that I see them as. If I change them all to black, then I see can't see them at all. I have been spening the past 3 hours trying to get them to jus plot black. We also have to stick with stb plot styles in our department.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use FDO to connect to an image (NAIP TIF obtained from USGS Seamless Server) and other shape files we created using GPS surveying. I also have contours in the drawing created in Civil 3D and a polygon property boundary from the land surveyor. When viewed in model space everything is very reasonably aligned to the NAIP aerial image.
When I plot the drawing (tried DWG to PDF, our office copier, and a HP DJ500) the map data has shifted relative to the aerial image. The shift is visually quite large. It almost appears that the drawing layers are translated and rotated relative to the aerial photograph.
A few times out of each day when I plot all of my viewports will be moved of the printable area into the gray area below in paperspace.
I cannot figure this out as I have used a few different profiles from different machines and still have the same issue.
Move multiple feature lines between sites?
Is there a way to move all the feature lines in a surface from one site to another site all at once? I know how to do them one at a time, but when I select them all, right-click "move to site...", it does nothing.

I am trying to create a surface rise:run slope label for our company template file. I have it set using the default values that I want. But right now the text is just 1:1...where we want it to read 1V:1H.
how I can keep the label dynamic to the surface, but put the V & H in the label after the values.?
I think it is normal to want a style showing stationing, speed design stattions, etc.But.... Radii of curves ? Clothoid parameters ?
Why is the reason Autodesk developers think that designers dont want to see this information instead of "add labels, aligments, multiple segments,. etc ....
(aligment by aligment ...... of a whole project ?

I have been working with some GIS data in the form of SHP files in autocad map 3D 2011. On one of my layers I have started getting "Feature was not saved in the target feature source" when I try to check in my data. In total there are 308 errors in the data table, all of which were features I deleted. They all have a featID of null and I cannot remove them from the data table. I need to fix these errors without going back and starting over.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to plot a drawing with a 3d shape and a title block around it. I would like for the occluded lines to not be drawn therefore I'm using the hidden visual style and set shade plot to hidden as well.
My problem arises from the quality of the plot to PDF versus the quality coming out of a printer. It is just a 8.5x11 page. The pdf comes out with horrible anti-aliasing and jagged lines, whereas the print is entirely smooth. Is there something simple I'm missing? It would be even better to find a way to make the plot to PDF come out in vector format! I know it is possible to show the layers and have them vectorized in a PDF... How is this done?
I am running Autodesk Map3D 2012 and I need to label my feature points no matter if they overlap or not.The Map3D documention refers to a check box that will allow what I believe I need- but I cannot find the checkbox in the style editor. Here's a clip from the Autocad documentation:

I like to use the sharpen feature and the unsharp mask feature but haven't gotten very good at it. Mostly I'm wondering if there is a way to calibrate the sharpen function so that it doesn't sharpen quite so much each time I click it.

Also, if I have layers inside a folder and try to move one of those layers, the entire folder is selected and all layers within that folder move.
I have not grouped any layers together.

If I have a dynamic block of a window. I can move either side of the block but the basepoint doesn't move. Is there a way to move the basepoint as well so its not off in space? or just delete it and have it now shown?

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo a friend created a model using zbrush and exported several different *.OBJ files. I imported those to maya and added shaders. They all fit correctly together when imported.
some of those obj files required me to do a mesh->combine. so now it appears that not every item has the same reference point so that when I move or scale the entire item, some of the objects move seperately. I think it is only the ones I had to combine.
I tried freeze transformations, but when doing that, some of the objects lost their scale settings and still didnt move together as one unit.
I am using the trial version of CS5 (probably going to upgrade at the end of the trial), and I've only found one thing about it that I don't like more than CS3. This is VERY VERY annoying, and I'm not sure if it's a glitch, or just a preference that needs to be reset:
When using the move tool, I will move something and it will just snap back to where it originally was. When it snaps back, it might move a few pixels over in the direction I was dragging, but it is definitely not moving to where I want it to go. The only way to get things to move the way I want to is by Free Transform...but it's annoying, when you're trying to design a layout, to have to free transform every element you want to move, first.
I'm guessing that this is a glitch because sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't...it's pretty random. I've tried turning Snap on and off, and nothing changes.
What happened to the option/enter command in the move object dialog that has been around since the early days of Illustrator??? Instead of having to mouse click the "copy" button in the move object window, one could just hold down option with Return or Enter and the Copy command would happen rather than a simple move. Immensely useful for prepress work!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulties with plotting labels on pdf. I am using 2011 map3d. I am struggling with labeling contours. Basically i have shape file which draws out isometrical lines, then i label contours, everything looks nice/works before plotting but when i plot it on pdf, it basically seems to do a selective plotting of contour labels (all the contours are plotted nicely). Some contour areas are covered nicely, some have only few left, but most parts have none.
My drawing is basically large tiff and shape file on top of it. Contour lines are covering slightly bigger area than the tiff file. contour labels that are actually plotted are mostly drawn on the bottom and left part of the drawing (plus they also seems to be somewhat following the vertical measurements, as if they are only drawn to a certain height or so), mostly out of the tiff part, but also partially continue on top of tiff, until are not plotted anymore. When i want to view contour labels on the whole drawing area, i basically have to "dr" tiff to back, altough drawing order is set so that tiff is drawn first and then other are placed. Sometimes it just boggles my mind why CAD acts like this. If it wouldnt draw any contour labels, i would understand, but it basically does it partially/regionally somehow and even then there are those regions, where labels are drawn only partially, but are still drawn.
It has got to be something to do with the size of the labels compared to the screen. At the moment size context is set to "map space" and when i look at the drawing in model, i can see all the labels nicely (they are drawn in absolute units and are not relative to screen). When i look at it in the layout (layout scale is set to 1 mm=1), i can only see lower part of the drawing covered in labels. As i increase the size units, it gradually draws labels to the upper northern part also.
I was suggested to export the contours and labels as a dwg,open it and then plot it, but what happens is that map3d seems to be able to export only 2000 items (labels). I am sure it would work, if i somehow could manage to export all the contour labels. I am going to add a picture also just to give a better understanding of the problem. Polyline marks the tiff image location and basically the black dots are the labels that are being plotted.
The thing is, that it actually copies exactly 2000 labels into text, which seems to be corresponding to the "rasterthreshold" command limit of 2000, is it just a coincidence?
I am attempting to export labels from ArcMap 9.3 into an older version of AutoCAD DeskMap (use R14 format). I am able to export polyline, point, and polygon data as a .dwg or a .dxf file and it comes into AutoCAD just fine (properly georeferenced). However, although I am able to pull up labels in Arc itself (say for example the township and range labels on a grid of Alberta), I am unable to export them to AutoCAD. I create a point feature class from my initial layer (and do the appropriate attribute table modifications to get the text to show up), those labels show up just fine in Arc, but then when I attempt to export them, either with the Quick Export tool or the Export to CAD tool either a) only the points show up (correctly georeferenced with no labels) or b) the labels and points show up but are centered around 0,0 instead of where I want them to be. In case b, the text and points are tiny and compressed (the entire grid of township and range divides for Alberta compresses down to something like 13 meters).
Apparently the xy coordinates of the text are coming in wonky. We utilize UTM for our coordinate system (again, the polylines, points and polygons export to this just fine), but for some reason when we create the text feature class (with the associated points) it takes the lat/long coordinates and tries to turn them into UTM, so we're getting coordinates like -113.2376, 55.36101. Maybe I'm not selecting the right column to export?
is it possible our cad 2012 or 2013 have "static label" option like on land desktop?? or any vlx or lisp for "add static labels"

I keep trying to set the precision but whenever I add a parcel label it comes up with the wrong precision. Also, I can't get the scale of the labels right. They are too big and I can't seem to size them down any smaller.
