AutoCAD Map 3D :: Export SDF To ASCII Or XLS

Jan 2, 2013

Using Civil 3D 2012 x64

I have an SDF file which contains point objects with associated data table records. I'm trying to extract the data to xls file /or text file/

Once imported in Map there's the option to view data table, then one can go select all and copy/paste everything in excel. This would have been perfect if coordinates were exported too. Alas I end up with a rather useless table.

Is there a way to convert an SDF file to xls file and preserve all the data records along with the geometry /xyz/ in the process?

CorelDRAW X6 :: Export Object Names In ASCII File?

Jun 7, 2013

I've exported in all supported vector file formats, and it seem that only SVGsupports object name (and data)... however, I can't use SVG at the moment.

Is there a way to export all objects using a macro?I need in plain ascii: layer and object names, and maybe object data.

I'm looking for a simple format, no transform matrices (as in SVG).

Something like this:

Layername: Layer 1Object type: Rectanglename: rectoutline: 1mmpos: 100.000, 100.000size: 100.000, 100.000rotation: 0.000Object type: Ellipsename: circleoutline: 1mmpos: 100.000, 100.000size: 100.000, 100.000rotation: 0.000Layername: Layer 2Object type: Curvename: Curveoutline: 1mmstart: 100.000, 100.000lineto: 200.000, 200.000bezierto: XY1, XY2, XY3, XY4end

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Importing ASCII Points

Feb 27, 2013

Sitka 1/3 arc-second DEM is the page for the source of the .asc file.

I downloaded the rather large (190 mb) zipped file of a large ASCII file with a few extra things (readme, metadata, report)

I followed this how-to document.

And I get the error message "Cannot set the column 'Name'. The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column." And then nothing at all happens.  No data imported.

Also, if I can't find the coordinates they assigned to the Ascii and I choose one I always use for this area, could that be the problem?

And I'l attach a photo of the 'preview' screen before I get before the error message.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Import ASCII File Into Drawing

Nov 4, 2013

I'm having problems importing points into Civil 3D 2012.I'm trying to import an ASCII file into the drawing.Files formats are P,N,E,Z,D in ASCII file and the same format is selected when I try importing.

The ASCII file has well over a 1000 points but when I import the points only the first twenty or so points import to the drawing. This seems not to be limited to this drawing.I tried to import points to a different drawing and the same thing happened.

Up to this point I have not had trouble importing points into other various drawings. Is there a button or setting that may have changed that is preventing full importation of the points?

AutoCAD Inventor :: ASCII Characters / Correct Character Codes

Feb 13, 2012

I am quite conversant with Unicode keystrokes (Alt+XXXX) for most symbols in fact I have a cheat that aids me in the correct character code.If I don't have the code I just copy it from the character map and paste it into the sentence but it gets a little tiresome after a while searching the character map for symbols.

I have on numerous occasions lately had the need to to insert the 'THEREFORE' symbol (You know the 3 dots in a triangle) into text notes on my drawings.

This symbol only seems to have a code "U+2234"..I have spent a lot of time searching everywhere for a clue as to what this keystroke sequence means.

I have my font style set to "Arial Unicode MS". Looking for the correct keystroke sequence for "U+XXXX"?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Insert Blocks At XYZ Coordinates And X / Y And Z Scales From ASCII

Sep 14, 2013

I found this LISP code that can insert a block at coordinates from an ASCII.

(defun c:universal( / file f a osmode);PointsToBlocks(while (not file)(setq file (getfiled "Input file" "coords" "txt" 4)))(setq f (open file "r")osmode (getvar "OSMODE"))(setvar "OSMODE" 0)(while (setq a (read-line f))(command "._insert" "block1" a 1 1 0))(setvar "OSMODE" osmode)(princ)

What I want to be able to do is insert blocks from an ASCII and also set the x-, y-, and z-scales.

For example, I have these lines in ASCII, the data points refer to X position, Y position, Z position, X scale, Y scale, and Z scale.

30.593589,21.274607,26.235255,0.172826,0.766324,0.066442

Lightroom :: Sort Alphabetically Not By ASCII Value

Nov 24, 2013

In LR5 I wish to sort by file name. However my camera names files as ABC123, ABC124, ABC125 etc etc. Lightroom sorts such names as ABC3, ABC2, ABC5 etc because the numeral part of the name is looked as as an ascii not a numeral. I think!!

However whatever the reason, sorting such file names doesn't work. As each import may consist of several hundred files, renaming manually to avoid numerals isn't an option.

Is there a naming system that can be automated that would result in this type of sorting resulting in what a human would expect?

Filenames such as Garden(1), Garden(2) etc are no better by the way.

I have existing roads, towns etc data that are already set to UTM 17.  I want to import ascii point coordinates (from a comma delimited file) into the file.  I can import the ascii coordinates as points fine (easting and northing), however the points come in as the absolute coordinates rather than geometric coordinates.  I already set the files for right geographic projections.  Beyond manually inputing the coordinates into the coordinate tracker, is there a way to import the coordinates form the file set for the geometric coordinates?

AutoCad :: DWG To PDF Export

Jun 16, 2012

this is my first post and have been using AutoCAD since R14 but actually just noticed this.

All layers in there are as exactly as they should be expect a few lines which are on 'LAYER 0' So I've exported the drawing by printing from DWG to PDF.

I've tried freezing the Dimensions but I have to freeze 'LAYER 0' to get rid of the ticks therefore freezing my lines also. Is this a bug in the software? Or me? Because its weird way the ticks have to be different then the rest of the dimension. Afterall it would be nice to freeze the Dims with one click and it also took me a while to figure out how to freeze them.

But, I always thought the ticks on dimensions belonged to the layer 'Defpoints' but when I export the PDF there is no 'Defpoints' So I exploded the dimension in AutoCAD and the tick does belong to 'LAYER 0'

Is there any system Variable to change the layer of them ticks so I don't have the same problem freezing Dimensions.
