I copied and pasted special part of an excel document into AutoCAD Map 3D. But I had deleted it instead of detaching it. How do I remove it? Its says I cannot reload, detach or bind. I have 6 of those. I have 2 more that are Not Found and states the same thing. I just want them gone. How do I do it?
View 6 RepliesIm working on a reticulation drawing with the site plan XREF'ed in. Why XREF manager has dozens of unreferenced attachments which I cannot delete. See image.
I was working on the drawing this morning and reloaded the XREF without trouble, then I saved the retic drawing as a Rev 3 and now I cannot reload the XREF. Then when Id like to remove and reattach it I cannot find it in XREF manager yet it is still visible on my drawing.
Just got the upgrade from 2012 to 2013 AutoCAD. When I opened the file from 2012 to 2013 for editing, my sub-xref file become "Unreferenced". The main Xref is loaded and fine. I tried to reload it but it doesn't work, and only its text path that are shown in there. It seems that the sub-xref file is in the right path when I trying to verify it location. So, what I did was use my old 2010 Autocad to finish my task which work fine. Why my sub-xref is in "unreference"condition using 2013 AutoCAD.?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had to update some drawings from AutoCAD 2007 and each of these drawings has at least 7 XRef files attached to it. Each of these files have about the same number of XRef files attached to them as well. These drawings keep going this way for about 3 more layers.
I copied all of the CAD files together (125 dwg files) into a new folder. I am using AutoCAD LT 2012. I opened each file to make sure each drawing is intact. Each drawing opened perfectly. However, when I saved each drawing, closed it and then opened it again to start editing things in the Current drawing, some of the XRefs were no longer attached, loaded or referenced.
Every time I open a drawing now, most of the XRef files have a status of Unloaded, Unreferenced or Not Found. The Loaded and Attached XRef files change when I close the drawing and open it again.
The Path is saved correctly for most of the missing XRef drawings, but when I use the drop down "Found At" field to apply the path again, it still does not find the drawings. A few of the XRef files have no path at all.
I have also tried to Attach the file again instead of updating the path, but it does not create a new XRef and when I open each drawing again, the same thing happens.
I have updated the path for the Unloaded XRef files and they reload successfully, but when I save and open the drawing again, they are Unloaded again or sometimes Not Found.
I have gotten to the point of opening the actual drawing of the XRef and copying into my current drawing just to not deal with the issue because I have to get things done and make progress.
I have a number of drawings that I am working on that I need to xref in image files for backgrounds. I am working in MEP 2013. Initially I am loading the xref via the insert tab then "attach" command. It loads fine, shows up , I clip and adjust its location in the dwg, save and plot and close the dwg. The next time I go to work on the dwg I cannot see the xref only the link and when I go to reload it wont let me. I receive the error "not found." I end up having to detach the file and start over. When I attach the xref I am using relative path and overlay options.

I have checked the file name seems to be the same the paths match where the file is (on a network drive if that matters.) I defenitely haven't deleted the x-ref on the model space.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have our pipe networks set up in our template. But in actual use, we don't use them in every project. Even in a project where we're using them, they will be d-ref'd around, so I don't need the actual network set up in each drawing.
I was deleting my unused, empty pipe networks from a drawing (to reduce file size and to avoid getting the "8 Objects not selected" dialogue when using quick select.)
I deleted 3 or 4 networks, then on the next one I got this message:
C3D was apparantly not content with merely informing me once of this interesting fact. No, the message was obviously considered so important that it had to be repeated. Many many times, for emphasis. So many times, that after I'd keept my finger on the Escape key for a minute or two, the program still felt that I needed to see this important dialogue box.
I used Task Manager to get out of the program.
I am attaching a File as a xRef. At the time of Attachment, I select attach as attachment, and No Path in Path.
Now if I try to fetch detail of this file using MdiActiveDocument.Database and BlockTableRecord, I gets only file name not the path. However, In AutoCAD we can see the file path under "Found At". Can we read / fetch this using C#.
In case of Full Path or relative Path, I gets full path in btr.PathName

Any way I can import data from an excel file in a predetermined range but variable workbook and sheet. For instance, in Station5.dwg I access cells B4:C15 on sheet STA-5 on workbook TerminalA.xls and then in Station6.dwg I access cells B4:C15 on sheet STA-6 on workbook TerminalA.xls, but all through just rerouting the sheet just as if I were to reroute an xref with the same scale and insertion point.
I'm trying to avoid a continual copy/paste of OLEs for each .dwg because I will have an average of 5 ranges to import from each sheet, of an average of 7 sheets per workbook, of an estimated 220 workbooks to work through. (7,700 ranges estimated so far is a lot of work).
I want to delete Xref-dependent layer. AutoCAd says I can't delete them. I want to delete them.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to reload a bunch of xref's through the project support path that I have setup, Really the project support path should be able to reload all the xref if they are already there. The problem is that the xrefs that im trying to reload ( the staus: says Unfreferenced and the type: Attachment) and when I type in the project name and then reload the xrefs, they should be able to find and link the xref to the drawing, but Im getting a a message saying that the xrefs are Orphaned and the status is Unreferenced. Its as though the system cant seem to find the xrefs with my projectname support path that I have setup.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.
I know that in ACAD you can use the xref manager to see where the actual file for the xref resides on your computer/server/etc. What I'm curious about is whether or not the inverse action is possible. Can you somehow access the file (not the output sheet where it's being xref-ed) and see what other files are using it as an xref?
I've come in on a project that is nearing completion and have been assigned the task of "cleaning up the project folder." Unfortunately, there are a ton of files in the different folders that are no longer in use on the final output sheets and I need to keep the ones still in use and archive the ones that are no longer needed. What I've been doing is going through those sheets and reviewing the xref manager for each sheet to see which files are actually put onto those sheets and making a physical checklist from which to organize my findings. Once the checklist is made, I then archive all the files that are no longer being used.
Is it possible to run a lisp which can extract all the xref names, make a layer with that name and then change the xref on the layer? I have got a similar routine from earlier posts but it doesn't work if any xrefs inserted in paper space (works fine on model space). could change this routine allowing to change the layer of xref in paper space too.

I am using (trying to anyway) a :VLR-xrefSubcommandReloadItem reactor. My only question is how to get the xref/block name from the 'reactor callback data' Object ID.
I am ultimately trying to pass it to (vla-get-xrefdatabase ....), but I cannot figure out how to turn the second parameter from the reactor callback data into something I can use - for example the second parameter returned may be "65" or some other number.

When I link in an excel document to my model all parameters in that excel gets the unit (mm).
How can I change this? For instance I want some of the parameters to be an angle.
Recently I have been trying to build table driven products and ipart tables, but when I copy a member to create a new part number, upon exiting the iassembly author I get the following message "excel installation is required for this operation. failed to launch excel". I have a fully functional version of 2010 Excel installed which has been used so it should be recognized in the windows registry. I am running Windows 8 and Autodesk Inventor 2014.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes.The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
when you bind an xref the link disappears from the xref manager.
is it possible to bind an xref, but preserve that link in the xref manager? i realize that will lead to two copies of the same object in the drawing (one xref, plus the new block). everyone's okay with that happening.
How do I get the full Xref Path name instead of Xref.dwg? I'm scratching my head is this totally under my nose... cause I don't see where the property is stored. I'm getting EV_BDR.dwg instead of C:folderEV_BDR.dwg

We would like to be able to deliver the CAD drawings to the client without having to send our calculation books (just the output tables). In other words, is it possible to embed the table data and remove the excel link for the final delivery?
Just loaded 2012. When I go to plot, the plot style table drop down can't find any ctb's. The "plot style table search path" in options > files, is set to the right folder. I've tried convert, convertstyles, ptstylepolicy and nothing works, Why can't Acad find the path with the ctb's.

Let's say I have downloaded 500 shots to PSE 12. I would like to go through them quickly and eliminate the ones I definitely do not want.How can I quickly tag them or whatever and then with one touch on the delete button delete them all at once?

I have deleted 200 bad files and the never showed up in the trash. I have been trying to clear up some disk space but the available disk still shows the same so I know they haven't been deleted. Am using Lion on a MacBook Pro 15 and am fully updated. Am I doing something wrong?

Until yesterday I was able to delete pictures, using the contextual menu or the delete key. I got the message asking me if I wanted to delete them from disk or from the catalog.
But now, that popup message doesn't appear. The picture is not removed, just nothing happens.
I checked the logs and this is the error message:
performCommandDesc could not perform command ag.library.expandAllStacks (Command was disabled.).
I uninstalled LR moving it to the trash. Then I deleted the com.adobe.Lightroom4.plist and I also removed the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom.
I rebbooted the machine and installed it again. But the issue is still there, with the same error message.
I verified the disk and checked file permissions.
I also tried to use another catalog from a backup.
Nothing, same error.
One anusual thing that I did before the error was to install the "HDRsoft Merge to 32-bit HDR Plug-in for Lightroom - Version 1.0"
I removed it but the error was still there. After the re-install I didnd't install that plug-in again so if it was the problem, it shouldn't be after the clean installation that I did again.
