I downloaded an action from Adobe web site and when I have my actions set to button mode, the button for this action is blue while the rest are all grey. I also noticed that the default frame action buttons are orange. Is there a way to color code these action buttons myself? It would be nice to catagorize them by colors.
I have determined that an AutoCAD drawing has the unfortunate ability to have Annotation Scales "hard coded", meaning they CANNOT be removed from the drawing.
Let me explain....
In a detail drawing file (i.e. my master drawing file where I keep all of our standard details), I was getting duplicate Annotation Scales. I would try to use the SCALELISTEDIT command to try and delete the anno scales not being used, but it would appear they WERE being used. (and resetting the anno scales didn't work either)
I was using a combination of tricks to determine WHICH annotation objects were using the duplicate anno scales. I would set ANNOALLVISIBLE to 0 and set the CANNOSCALE to the duplicate anno style to see where they were being used with no luck
I would then use the QSELECT command to group select each type of annotation object that were annotative, and check to see if they were using the duplicate scales. Again, no luck
THEN, I decided to cut-n-paste each detail one-at-a-time from my master drawing file to a new BLANK drawing with only one annotation scale in it (i.e. 1:1). I would paste a detail, and then enter the SCALELISTEDIT command to see which anno scales "came along for the ride". I pasted a particular detail that carried over the duplicate anno scales, but when I checked all of the annotation objects for the duplicate anno scales - NOTHING! I then deleted that particular detail, purged it, and then I was able to delete the duplicate anno scales. But no matter what I did to try and fix that detail (i.e. wblock, cut-n-paste, save-down, etc) the duplicate anno scales simply will NOT be allowed to be deleted even though i cannot find any objects associated with them.
I am new to autocad and robotics student.. I have 3D data in text file, obtained from MATLAB software. 3D data contains 3 columns x,y and z, and 15000 rows..
So, now i want to create 3D image from that data in Autocad, Can i create..? If Autocad doesn't support text file than i can conver this data in Excel file also..
Are there tutorials for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 that assumes that the user never use AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012? Maybe a step-by-step tutorial. I tried the online tutorials on this website but I find them a little bit confusing. If I want to create 3D model of a city, what's the best way of creating 3D model of the city? I thought that one way of creating a city is:
1. Create terrain using DEM data.
2. Create streets, roads, highways, train tracks, etc. <- I need better tutorials.
1. Construct a blank "template" drawing that already has a pre-determined data extraction table set up with every piece of valueable data that may or may not be used in the drawing showing values of zero (because there is nothing drawn yet of course)
2. The data extraction table is linked to an excel file. This excel sheet will recieve data from the linked CAD data extraction table and use the data in the pre-determined 'destination' cells to execute cost economics equations
3. I would like the data extraction table to be set up with all possible entities that may potentially get drawn into the drawing - I don't know if this is possible because in any data extraction table I have ever drawn, as soon as the entity the data table is accounting for is deleted from the drawing, the whole line from the table dissappears - in my case I would love for it to just show "zero" or null
4. The reason for all of this is to not have to create a new data extraction table and excel sheet every time - The two templates would already be linked, and all the drafter would do is draw the drawing, the appropriate data would show up in the data extraction table (eg. X amount of feet of poly line, X number of Y block), be pushed to the excel sheet in predetermined locations, cells would be linked on the sheet to execute costing equations.
I hope i have been clear enough that the project represented in the drawing does not have many possible components and that is why having them all listed in a pre-designed data extraction table would not take up much space, the benifit of having everything linked before hand is the goal.
I am working in Civils 3D 2014 and I have a survey with points already on the correct elevation layer, I have tried creating a surface from this but it does not show up.
My process:
- I create a new drawing and insert a block (my topo survey) and click explode when I do this
- I create the surface by TIN and make sure I have the correct layer for the points that I am selecting
- Click ok
- Then go into that surface and turn on all layers and refresh - still nothing
- I also made sure that my surface style was 1m contours so I would definately see this.
I have created a contour layer in MAP and need to bring the data into Civil (to create and EGL surface) which I usually I do via an alter properties query.
There is the Create Surface from GIS data in 2014 but this requires shp files so the two questions I have are:
Can the contour layer be output as shp files (and if so how)?
If yes, is this easier/more efficient than my current workflow?
(No connection with Autodesk other than using the products in the real world)

I was trying to use data extraction to create a table that can list the blocks in the drawing and descriptions in AutoCad 2012 windows version. the software didn't recognize my blocks. When I starts trying at my mac version of 2013, I am even more confused on how the create a table that can list the blocks in my drawing.
I want to make many object cooper lines in autocad and each line has some data about its length, size, type etc. that can then extract to excel as a Bill of materials.
Any way to create a parcel from an object (closed polyline) and populate the parcel with Object Data from the polyline?
I have imported a .shp file into a drawing and the result is many closed polylines with properties similar to the attached image. I would like to bring this data into a parcel object for labeling purposes.
I want to add an attribute to a BLK file I have from a past release. Using this .BLK file, I can create a table from attributes in my drawing using a LISP routine.
It seems there is no way to create or edit a .BLK file that I can use for this in ACAD 2011, it only creates .DXE files.
The problem with the .DXE file is that is saves the drawing that the original extraction is performed on. When I use the .DXE in another drawing, it uses the original drawing data unless I manually "delete" the old drawing reference using the dialog box in the extraction wizard.
The .BLK file works perfectly, but I want to add an attribute. How can I create a new, or edit my old .BLK file?
Will I have to reinstall an older version of AutoCAd to accomplish this?
I have centerline data from SHP file that I can either import or attach to. Has a few lines of object data with it including a centerline of road name. Each one unique. When I attach to the data, I can then "join" with it additional data from a database. When I select a line and look at the properties, it contains both the original object data AND the additional data from the database. SO far So good.
When I edit the style and try to add feature labels only part of the labels come in. I end up with a lot of them with only the letters "text" or just not there. If I right-click on the line and select "Show Data Table" I can confirm that there is data for that label. I find nothing in common with the map features that have labels, or don't have labels. Kind of random.
Question: If I import the SHP file and create object data I need to know if there is a way to "ADD" the rest of my data that is in the database to this object data. If so then I think I could define a Template and label each piece with the block with attributes. Is this possible? OR
Is it possible for me to export to a new SHP file after I have connected to the data (both shp file and database).
When I create a shape with a Pantone Color and then decrease the opacity in the color swatch palette, then go to my swatches palette and select "Select All Unused Colors" it highlights the pantone color being used in the file. In previous version, it never did this. This is for CS6. Any know fix for this?
How to create a parameter field to include the MasterFormat data using 'txt' file similar to Assembly code parameter already built into revit families. I don't want to use the Keynote field for this purpose. I am looking for a ways to create a new parameter under the Identity Data.
I have two images on two layers, the one which is on the top has a blending mode set to it (hard light for example) and opacity at about 70%.
What I would like to do, is to save that image (which is on the top) so, that every time I combine those two images, I would get the same result. (By combining I mean applying those images on top of each other outside of photoshop.)
The opacity is not a problem - I can save the image as 32 bit bmp (8 bit alpha channel right?)
One of my customers has come to me with a job of engraving and cutting out personalised seat name tags for large football/soccer stadiums upto 75,000 tags. This will envolve engraving seat numbers and details in to a sheet of acrylic 600mm x 600mm in size (each tag is 80mm x 40mm so approx 78 per sheet)
Whilst I can design the template or drawing quite easliy, I can't seem to get the data from the .csv file (each tag will have 3 records in it. SEAT NUMBER, NAME, MESSAGE) in to just one page / template. when I use the print merge function all I can seem to produce is 78 pages of one seat tag each.
I'm sure there must be a way of producing the 78 tag template so I can just import the relivant data, but I'll be a monkeys uncle if I can find it....
Automated AI so much so that it can read instructions from an external source like xml or txt and automatically creates files and folders.
For example we have something like this: File1 Hello Font: Myriad Size: 22 Colour: Pantone 254C Image 1.jpg (link) Source: Image1.png (link) clipart1.eps (link) ---------- File2
and so on.
I want AI CS5 to: 1. create an eps File1, create a folder named File1, put File1.eps in it 2. type the text Hello, apply Myriad 22pt and PMS 254 to it, centre it to the artboard 3. Place all jpegs, pngs, eps source files on the artboard and embed them. 4. Save the file as eps legacy version 10, close the file and move to the next file.
