In model space I draw a line with a particular linetype, say a fence row, and I adjust the linetype scale so that it reads like I want it, but then when I go to paper space, it's just a plain line no matter what I set the linetype scaling to?
View 9 RepliesWhenever i draw a new line, hatch etc - Autocad draws the object with a certain lineype. Then after i draw the line i have to manually click the line and set it's linetype to "By layer". It doesn't matter which layer i set as current, it never draws by layer, allways by this other linetype.
Using Cad 10 Architecture - But tried opening the file on other versions aswell, with the same result.
I am now working for an oil company, nd we do arather a lot of work involving lifting plans with chain hoists etc.
My question is, is there any way of make a linetype that automatically draws chain. At the moment, i have to manually draw a link, and copy and paste with basepoint to the reuired length, and then "block" it. however, when we come to alter these drawings, they are a nightmare to alter all the chain sections.
If there was a way of developing a linetype that automatically made these chains, it would speed things up so much.
I have a problem with a recently downloaded version of Inventor. When I start a new drawing all I get is a blank blue screen instead of one with a grid display. If I start a line I can see the cursor change to draw the line but a line does not appear. I don't know if it something with how I installed the program or just system settings.

Example:I draw a single line & set to 'Dashed' (or any other type). If i then rotate that line the linetype scale changes to a very small dash & the actual scale of the line changes. rotate it abit more & it will change again.
I need a line to show a fence and it should be a line with a / poking out on one side like -/-/- but the lines in between longer and the side lines just on one side...
How to make one like that or where I can find one?
I don’t know if there is some way to draw, or somehow to say to AutoCad that it let me to input measurements from line but not from main base pint.
For example in Revit I can make angular dimension between lines and then apply any angle that I want, maybe AutoCad has such tool?
I was drawing a lot of lines with the pointer that stuck at the end of the line and after that it stuck at the beginning of the other line (i hope you understand what i mean). I don't know what i pressed but now this function is not active and is very difficult to draw the lines.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn our work we draw many symmetrical outlines. In many cases, chiefly due to space constraint, we draw only half the outline and use a centerline of the symmetry to dimension the part.
Our current method is to use sketches to achieve this. I wonder if there is a way that we can make this linetype available from the styles? Diagram attached below.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe linetype set in the active standard for section line is totally ignored when creating a section view. We have our line type set to 'Long Dash Dot' as per the BS8888 standard but it changes it to a 'Long Dash Short Dash' line. We use the same linetype on the centerline layer with no problem. Why does this not work??

Ever since that when i click shift, it just allows me to draw vertical lines, rather than vertical or horizontal.
Any way to build or download a linetype that can display as a thick dashed line surrounded by 2 parallel lines on either side of it?
We use them to denote underground stormwater pipes in our survey models.
Currently I need to manually set each line to a polyline, give it a global width, and then draw a DLINE of the same width from endpoint to endpoint. The down side is that not only is it laborious, I also have to set the Z values to zero, so we lose the elevation feature of the pipe in the model.
Ideally it would need to have enough functionality to alter the spacing of the dashes, and the width of the line.
when I (try to ) use Pencil and Brush tools, (cross-hatching), some lines get erased/replaced by the lines drawn close to them. It must have something to do with the preferences, but I am not sure what to change/adjust.

2. So ya that one was easy.. hows bout when i want to cut something out ACCURATELY, the pen function, right? (according to a friend)when i make all those little boxes and select the area i want to cut, all that gets copied are the outer lines, which i presume is what ive just drawn.. how do i cut the area inside this?

I'm in model space. I can move objects. I can even erase/delete things. But I'm tring to edit this shop drawing, i need to add some details, so i need to draw some lines. I use the "l" command. Select my 1st point, then 2nd point. It doesn't work? The Command line keeps saying: Specify next point or [Close/Undo]. But no lines are getting drawn. i finally have to hit escape to end the line command but no lines have gotten drawn. its the same thing if i draw a square or circle. (Not sure if you need to know this but these are my companies files created by a former employee of my company using our own AutoCad. So, i would think if he's locked this file somehow, i should be able to unlock it.)
