I've never really understood the reasons behind choosing between shx and ttf fonts. It always looked to me that the shx fonts were more of a creation solely due to pen plotters where a filled font was slower to plot. But since the shx fonts are still out there and the pen plotters aren't, is this because of some other advantage or is it just a case of supporting legacy drawings?
View 3 RepliesMy colleague and myself have a problem with the font Lucida in the header of a plan we designed. He's running Windows Vista and I am running Windows 7. I designed the header, but now he has to make some additional plans with that same header but if he opens the file with that header, strangely enough the font Lucida he uses is not exactly the same as the one I've used although the properties show they're all the same. Another colleague with Windows 7 has no problem with it. As you can see in the attachments I've added, the '1' is not exactly the same as well as the '-' so texts don't fit the boxes they're in anymore. We also can't really alter the font, seeing as Lucida is the font our client uses and requires for this project. We've tried overwriting my colleague's font by my LUCIDA-font in the location C:WindowsFonts but this didn't resolve the problem either.

Anytime I use it, it converts to this font and each time I need to change a font weight, I must do it manually. As you can imagine, I use our company font all day so this slows me down quite a bit. Have you heard of this? It seems like some sort of font virus. I've researched removing it, yet can't seem to find the original font file to get rid of, which is even weirder."
We tried moving the font family to the trash, emptying the trash, rebooting the machine, and re-adding the font family and it still is happening.
Question - What is the difference between the world UCS and the top UCS?
I am working in a fairly large model and when I have the UCS set to world and do the ID command I get the correct coordinance. However when I am in a plan view and UCS is set to top the co ordinance come in roughly 600 feet different. How to set the UCS so that co ordinance will be the same no matter what UCS is being used? Or explain why this would be?

Of course later when I type that in now I can't click anything and it doesn't work. I know to use Dimension Linear (DIMLIN) now but I was wondering what's the difference between the two- possilby between AutoCAD Arch and the regular version?

I had posted in another thread about wanting to clean up a signature and make it look more font like. I tried that and it seemed to be pretty difficult due to the amount of random in a hand written signature.
So I think I'd like to approach this from the other direction. I have a font I like but I don't want it to look like the font (way too common). Is there a way to alter the font (not the entire font set or even to create a new font but just for a one word Logo)?
I'd ideally like to connect two of the letters and also modify the shapes of the letters just a bit.
