How do you plot a PDF-file from a cad drawing that shows the color of background - gray for instance? I use gray as background color to see other colors better but the PDF-file turns out with white
Background which makes yellow lines for instance almost impossible to see.
My company is switching from ctb files to stb files. With the ctb file, we make concrete hatch with two layers. A top layer with the concrete hatch pattern and a background layer with a solid hatch patern. The ctb file concrete plots the concete hatch black and the solid background hatch light gray. I am using civil 3d 2013 and the hatch allows a seperate background color mask. I am trying to make all my concrete layers (Top of Curb, Curb Flowline, etc.) a certain color scheme, i.e. shades of green. I would like my on screen concrete hatch patern to be a green color with a gray background, but plot the concrete hatch black with a gray background. I can not figure out how to do this without making two layers. Is there a way to use one layer and utilize the background color mask to show on screen green and gray, but plot black and gray?

Although i assigned a ctb plot style, lines come out according to an unknown plan to me. I attached the file. It seems that the lines are influenced by the ctb file, but some colors are fadded I found it. i had to assign the color black to all colors, since it plotted with colors, on the black and white plotter. But a new problem arose. now i don't see colors when i am in the layout, all lines are white!

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen printing a plan with a background mask, the mask shows as a bunch of ting gray dots. Also we have a plot style, using STB, that is supposed to print white, but it too prints as a light gray hatch. It is not that big of a deal until we scan to run sets. The dots and hatch get picked up more intensely by the scanner and it looks like hell, a big gray background. It happens on label masks too: contours, structures, etc. Wipeouts are okay, but those are not used much anymore. I am printing to an OCE TDS600 with current drivers, I have even tried older drivers. I also tried printing to DWF then to the printer and got the same result. Printing to DWF actually added little gray plus signs for the wipeout. The scanner is a OCE TDS600, and we plot with the grays & lines setting.
I have heard the dots are unavoidable, but I really don't want to believe that because it makes our plans look like crap.
I am trying to place a black background on a drawing so once it is printed it will be easier to read. I place a solid hatch in a boundary and use the DRAWORDER command to place in underneath everything else, but when I plot the dwg to pdf the black hatch comes out grey in the pdf (see attached pdf)
Is there an alternative that I can use to add a black background to a dwg?
For some reason, when using publish in 2012, it keeps taking me out of whatever window I have active at the moment. In all my versions of cad, I've never once had this issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have one drawing per file at model tab. When I need to plot a multiple page file, I use:
Print > Batch Plot.
The problem is that I have to set plot configurations ( plot style table, plot area, paper size, etc) in each file before use Batch Plot.
Now I received 722 files with a wrong Plot Style Table. For this time I change the associated *.ctb file at Plot Style folder, but I will need to associate the right *.ctb to each drawing. It's also common to have to change other properties.
Try plotting to a PC3 format with Line Merged option on under the properties for the plotter. Note how the contours continue through the text.
Try plotting with Lines Overwrite. Note how the contours don't go through text.
Any users out there saying they cannot use the "Lines Overwrite" option and need something else so they can still use the Lines Merged option and have their contour text looking good. How to get this in a SP or HF soon. Otherwise it may be deferred to 2010 and so on and so forth.
I have this problem with my MText Background Mask. You can take a look at the two attachments. Each one gives me the same issue, but with different MText objects. I'm also plotting to a KIP5000 and a SHARP All in One, and I get similar results, except in some of the MText, they come out in a random color as well. The pc3's for all devices are set to Lines Merge.
The text is actually part of an xref file, and if I plot directly from the file they are in, I have no problem. I did a test where I copied the text into the sheet file, and got similar results when the text is in modelspace, and I got my intended results when the text is in paperspace. Now, this is the way I want to go...but the company standard is to draw it all in the xref, so I have to figure out how to get around this.
I've gone back and forth with the Merge/Overwrite options in the pc3, and when plotting to PDF and SHARP, I get the correct output with Overwrite, but the KIP just completely ignores the background mask with Overwrite.
I can not plot in color! Using Civil3d 2012 64 bit. Plotting to a HP DesignJet 5500 which I think is set to use the new driver for 64 bit. I have tried everything I know. Been doing this many years and I have never ran into this one. Used CTB ACAD, None and tweaked a few of my own. The funny thing is if I have an image that will plot in color and the other funny thing is I can send the same plot to a HP Color LaserJet 5550 PS (standard office size) and the dwg plots just fine in color so I'm thinking it has something to do with the 64 bit side of things.

I upgraded my workstation to 64bit recently. I have a problem with the plot files created in my computer are darker / stronger color than the color assign in the ctb. FYI, my plotter is a network plotter HP design jet 1055 cm which is install in a 32bit server. Does this has to do with the autocad color table or the printer?

A client wants me to add flooring zones to a few sets but I cannot get them to print in color. I assume I do this from my pen assignment but I cannot figure out what colors they are to change them.
I do my zones by using Home>"under build" space>from the properties I click Zone 0-15>polygon and then I trace the rooms. Then it fills the room with a preassigned color. How Can i figure out what colors they are using so I can edit my pen setting or is there an easier way to print zones in color and the rest in B&W?

I use multiple colors on-screen to discern between certain items, then plot everything in black, like I'm sure almost everyone out there does. However, I would like to print only lines of a certain layer in differing colors. Because of the problems with wipeouts, I have switched to using some solid hatch set to colour 255. The hatch is in paperspace, sitting under titleblock and other Layout text. I am plotting to an HP1050C, using a .ctb file with 255 set with grayscale off.
The plot preview is fine, but the hatch blocks come out black on paper. I thought this was the problem with wipeouts, and that hatch didn't suffer from it.
I'm attempting to tilt this image for use in a game im writing. I've been using Map Object and rotation (Y) but this then causes pixel color changes on the boundary with the background color. How would I tilt this picture without getting the problem?

You know how when you're painting, you can hold ALT and it will pick a colour from the canvas? Well, for some reason, mine still picks up the colour but it sets it to the background colour instead of the foreground colour.
And when I actually select the colour picker tool, it will only select the background colour but when I hold Alt, it selects the foreground colour. Basically it's flipped where it's supposed to select.
When I have any kind of layer, and I want to change the foreign or background color (with the color picker) I just cant. When I click on the foreign or background color it automatically selects the eyedropper tool, and I don't want this to happen.

If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
