AutoCAD LT :: How To Get Font To Be Universal / Change It At Root Of Block

Jul 11, 2013

I have a text style I like and it works nicely annotative.  So long as I am in my drawing using my menu I am fine.  When I go to a palette and try to utilize some of the premade blocks it populates another font. How can I get my font to either be universal or change it at the root of the block?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Universal Text Change Option

Jun 13, 2013

I would like to know if there is a tool/plugin that would be similar to match properties that would allow me to change a text and then use that text to point and universally change all other picked text within a drawing environment.

Right now we are making manual changes per mtext line to make the transition and I am sure there must be a more productive and quick way to do this.  Just have not been able to find it.

I have recently installed a computer system and the Plotter the client is using is a Canon W7200; Canon have refused to release any updated drivers and there were never any previous 64bit drivers that were created for this piece of hardware.

Are there any Universal Plotting Drivers? or a Generic one that can be used with all Canon Plotters?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Universal Parameters Across All The Parts Of An Assembly?

Mar 4, 2013

I am attempting to reverse engineer a Slap Chop for a school project.  Being only an amatuer at Inventor, I have made several parts that need to fit together but don't due to erronious measurements.  Attached are three of the parts I have so far, and I will make a few replies with the remaining parts.  I am trying to make an excel sheet or some table where I can manage all my parameters and have them update in the parts.  The table is simply to make it easier for me to quickly check my dimensions.

AutoCad :: Clicking Block Go To Block Editor And Not Allow To Change Its Attributes

When the block is in a drawing and I click it, it takes me to block editor.

However if I go to it in block editor and test block it allows me to change the attributes.

Why does clicking the block go to block editor and not allow me to change its attributes as it does when I test block.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Margins On HP LaserJet With HP Universal Driver

Aug 8, 2011

Ever since updating our print server to use the HP Universal driver, my ability to tweak the non-printable margins has gone away.  In the past I was always able to easily tweak margins within my PC3 files using the "Modify Standard Paper Sizes (Printable Area)" tool.  Setting all four values to say "0.25" would result in an even 1/4" margin around all four edges of the paper.

Now however, that behavior is just plain different.  Using 0.25 all the way around results in plots that are partially shifted off the page.  Using different values for top, bottom, left and right results in one or two margins coming out much wider than I want.  The frustrating part is there seems to be no rhyme or reason between these values and the plot output.  The default values are 0.17 for Top/Bottom and 0.25 for Left/Right but even this results in uneven margins.  Only if I make the slightest of tweaks can I get any tiny bit of improvement, which is still not up to previous standards.  Anything larger and the output is much worse.  I've tried all 0.0, setting top/bot only. left/right only, but none of my combinations of values works.

On top of that there seems to be inconsistency between each printer, even when the printer Model is the same.  For example the output on my 9050DN printers range from just "Decent but not like before" to plain "awful".  My older 8150 DN models look the best but still do not match previous output.

Is there an alternative way to adjust paper margins?  Is there a new method to adjusting the "Modify Standard Paper Sizes (Printable Area)" ?

AutoCad :: Root DWG To Remove Xref Values

Aug 27, 2013

I have been using AutoCAD for some time now. I have always been trying to stay away from X-Refs as I do not understand them fully. But in the current project im running I have to upload a .dwg into a program, but the catch is, the drawing MUST NOT have any X-refs. Now, in the folder structure I have of this drawing consists of about +-10 different .dwg files.

Is there any way I can use the root .dwg to remove the x-ref values, but still have the drawing, to allow me to have the same drawing so I can upload it into my program?

Size does not matter in this scenario.

I ll be hovering the forums for some time

AutoCAD Inventor :: Get Dimension To Be Square Root Of 32?

Apr 25, 2012

I want a dimension to be the square root of 32, so I entered:

Sort(32 LU)

Now, the square root of 32=5.656854...

But the dimension I get is 2.227...

So, I try to play with the numbers a little to decipher what Inventor is doing.  If I enter:

Sort(32 LU)*2

I get 11.314...

2.227*2 does not equal 11.314

However,

(√32)*2=11.313708...

This is the first time I have used equations that are more complicated than basic math.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Font Attributes Lost When Exploding Block

Mar 27, 2012

I have a strange problem with one of our library blocks.

For panel schedules and light fixture schedules, we have DWG block files, and we insert them into our drawings and explode them for editing.

The light fixture schedule loses all of its font attributes when we do this.  It looks fine when you insert the block, but once you explode the block all the font information is lost.  Interestingly, if you insert the block and go into the block editor, the block editor doesn't show the fonts correctly even though the un-exploded block does show the fonts correctly.

An important detail in all of this is that the panel schedules are just drawings (lines, text, hatches, etc.).  The light fixture schedule is a table.

I'll attach some pictures showing what I'm talking about and the DWG block file.

AutoCAD LT :: Title Block Of Layout Template - Font Size

Feb 26, 2013

In the title block of a my layout template I have tables inserted for revisions, drawing type, numbering etc. I have type already inserted in those blocks that I typically click on and then type in what I need it to say. My template works on all my other drawings except a particular one that I am currently working on.

When I click on the type, it automatically increases from 3/16" to 8" and enlarges the box to accommodate the new font size.

I've attached a screen. The top is before I click on the word "type" in the lower right corner and the bottom one is afterward.

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Root Radius - Move And Scale Actions

May 23, 2013

[URL] how to add a dynamic radius, with reference to the Move and scale actions.

"1. Set the Radius to Independant and move the center point to the center of the radius"

"2. Add the Scale Action to the Move Action"

"3. You already noticed the angle of the stretches (45, 315) needing to change and the Move multiplier of 1.414"

I am trying to design a column block, but following  the above instructions for the root radius the radius moves when I test the block!

1. "move the center point to the center of the radius" What does this mean. I am selecting a liinear parameter, selecting the mid point of the arc first and then the arc center point.

2. "Add the Scale Action to the Move Action". How do you add the scale action to the move action.

I got in a hole lot of trouble to get the result from the picture and I was hoping that there is an easier way... a workaround... something.

Using segments is not an option (only maybe as an intermediary step) but in the end I have to have all the wires as separate entities.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Can't Change Font Of MLEADER

Mar 29, 2012

I pulled in a survey from an outside vendor and was just going to work with what they have. Their MLEADERS are a different font than what I would like and changing the Text Style doesn't work. I notice in the properties for the MLEADERS that the contents don't have just the mleader text, but is says this instead:

{fSansSerif|b0|i0|c2|p2;W1;TEXTHERE}

Obviously its overriding with the text style with the bit of code. But is there a way to change it? Hitting the ellipses in the Contents properties just transfers control to the model space. I can't edit from the properties panel like you can with a DIM or anything. I don't remember how it functioned in '08 or '12. MATCHPROP also does not change the font.

Yes I could just create the MLEADERS but I feel it would take less time delete that fSansSerif junk than it would be to place and retype every single MLEADER in the drawing.

AutoCad :: Change Global Text Font

Dec 6, 2006

Basically, we get documents from other people and we convert those to our formats to do our work. We use a font called Simplex, but sometimes their document is filled with, like, Comic Sans or something stupid.

The match properties command doesn't seem to change font, just size and alignment. When I use the font properties dialog box, I can set simplex as the font, but when I make new text, it still matches their comic sans.

So two questions: How do I change the default font for the document so that all new text is the way I want it?

And is there a LISP routine which will find all text and change the font property and stuff the way I want it? For multi-line and single line text.

Also note, I've tried selecting all the text and editing properties, but font is not one of the properties I can change. To change font, I have to edit every piece of text one by one. And then ONLY multiline text has the properties to change font. I don't even know how to change the font of a single line text object.
