View 4 RepliesI'm relatively new to AutCAD map 3d but I've used arcGIS a while back.
I have existing roads, towns etc data that are already set to UTM 17. I want to import ascii point coordinates (from a comma delimited file) into the file. I can import the ascii coordinates as points fine (easting and northing), however the points come in as the absolute coordinates rather than geometric coordinates. I already set the files for right geographic projections. Beyond manually inputing the coordinates into the coordinate tracker, is there a way to import the coordinates form the file set for the geometric coordinates?
I want to import some of the iproperties of one ipt file into an iam file.how to do it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA co-worker had a copy of a handy little guide called "Lynn Allen's Tips and Tricks for AutoCAD 2012". I think she (or another co-worker) got it at AU.
On page 33 under the heading "DGN Support", it says the following:
Complex linetypes are now maintained! To ensure that custom linetypes are displayed, copy the corresponding .rsc files to the support path...........
The way I read that, Acad will read the RSC file and display linetypes from it. Is that true? Does it only work when I'm looking at a DGN file? Or can I use the RSC file with my dwg file? I'd test it myself but I don't have access to any MicroStation files.
If Acad can read the RSC file directly, then I don't see why the linetypes can't be used in a dwg file. AND that being the case, I also don't see why an Autodesk product can't be created to WRITE these RSC files. As far as I'm concerned MicroStation's custom linestyles is so much more advanced than Acad's linetypes.
How can I import the contents of an image file into an already open file? I want to import the WHOLE image, not just a cropped version.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several AVCHD folders I've copied to my HD in the last year from my Panasonic HDCSD20. Now I'm ready to edit them in VSX4. Is there any advantage to using "file/import media file to library" (which makes a copy in the working folder) vs just clicking on the folder icon and adding them? I've looked at the file size on both the original clip and the imported one and they are identical. It does seem as though VS extracts the original date and time shot and uses that as the imported file name,

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an STL-file that i need in an assembly to check if the machine that i'm building isn't to small.
I can import the STL-file in the assembly without problem, but i can't use constraints on it to put it in the correct place of my machine.
The STL-file isn't seen in the IDW - drawing.
After analyzing a storm system in SSA or Storm Sewers I’m exporting it to a .stm file. When importing to CAD it recognizes the existing pipe network and asks to update it which works but it adds two horizontal purple lines in the profile which are attached to one of the pipes in the profile. If you erase the purple lines it erases the pipe with it.
Things I tried already with no success:
-Erase profile and re-create it
-Erase alignment and re-create it
-Erase all pipes before import (so it would import as new, not update)
-Try LandXML for export/import (this wouldn’t update pipes, it just brought in a whole new network and messed up all the styles/parts)
Here is what it looks like:
I am trying to import some .dgn files into Autocad Architecture 2013 but I get a message that reads "This DGN file does not contain any models that can be imported into this drawing". I tried importing the files to Revit Structure 2013 as well without success. I have been able to import the files into Rhino 3d and that seems to work fairly well.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThis year we started working with the program AutoCAD at school. To make things easier we need to import the same profile as our teacher. The teacher gave us already the .arg file in our mail. I am working with an Apple computer, a MacBook Pro. Everybody found out how to import the file ( on a Windows ) and how to start working with AutoCAD like we have seen in class. But I am still having problems importing the profile. How to import the profile when using a Mac?
