Basically, I have two workplanes which are parallel to each other and offset by a certain distance. As illustrated in the picture below, I'd like to constrain points from each plane to have the same vertical alignment as those from the other plane (horizontal too, I suppose, but the horizontal dimension will be the same anyways).
View 1 RepliesI am using projected and sketched geometry (2D sketches) in assembly space to create lines/ points that I intend to use to define planes and axes. The problem I have is that nearly all the geometry I create (lines and points in 2D sketches) is not "selectable" when I try to create planes or axes. I cannot even put a work points "on top of" my sketch points. Why are my sketches not usable in the assembly space? Since the components in my model are just two extruded rings I don't have any linear edges I can select to make this work/ define planes.

I am trying to create a best fit alignment from parallel linear sets of COGO points. When I run the command, about halfway through the data set the alignment suddenly curves out of away from the COGO points. I tried doing a best fit individually on each side, one side works fine, the other sets station zero about a quarter of the way into the points and runs it back toward the start, leaving out 3/4 of the points.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I go into Multiline Text edit, the edit box is vertical instead of horizontal. So, i must edit in a vertical fashion. Upon completion, the text remains vertical and I must take the time to rotate it to horizontal. I do have WYSIWYG checked, but it still goes vertical if it's not checked. Also, it starts out (before editing) horizontal. The font is Ariel. AutoCAD 2010.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm in the process of going from LDD 2008 to Civil 3D 2012 and I'm having some difficulties with the profiles. In LDD there was a vertical alignment editor for profiles where I could edit the surface profile stations and elevations. Has that feature gone the way of the Dinosaurs or is it in Civil 3D somewhere?
Once in a while the profile doesn't pick up a curb line or a change in elevation. Its just simpler sometimes to add a station and elevation without going in and spending time editing the surface so the profile reads correctly.
i have an issue in with my created sheets that does not show vertical alignment data. everything on the bands shows up nicely but the lines, curves and labels profile are missin.

The vertical text alignment of text frames has no effect at all.
Whatever I choose (top/middle/bottom/justified) the text will always align on top of the frame.
I'm trying to create a 3 digit grid bubble that will align vertically along an elevation, but my grid bubble in use within the project insists on the text being horizontal... Is there any way to force the alignment to vertical...?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to migrate from Fireworks to PS so I can access and learn more features and tools. One of the reasons I like FW is that simple things like aligning objects and layers, for example, to the center, top or bottom of the page is easy. I can't seem to achieve this very simple task in my version of PS CS5. For instance, to center a layer, I'm supposed to select another layer to reference it to? However, when I do this, the align function realigns the other layer I'm using as a reference too. I keep reading that the align tool can't affect a single layer. If this is the case, why have an alignment tool at all? It's a very confusing feature!
My question is this: can photoshop align seperate layers individually? Or should I continue to do that work, layout and design, in Fireworks and then save and import as a .psd file to finish my work in PS? (I know that PS is a great photo editing tool but I'm not sure if it is optimized for graphic design work like Fireworks is.)
I see that Neilw asked about exporting alignment and profile to the data collector. My problem is this. We use Trimble Links to send data to our data collector and that is fine, but the surveyor cant stake out the points or anything. We can see the info is in the data collector, but how do you set out anything. Is there a setting maybe on the TSC2 that we are overlooking? We have Civil 3D 2012.

This is the second time I’m highlighting this issue. I couldn’t acquire the points of the alignment shown in the curve below
The issue here is that the C3D does take the “starting station” as station point but it doesn’t take the “ending station” as station point and thus doesn’t proceed
What might be the problem here? How to let the C3D take the “ending station” as station point but not as coordinates point? Also it doesn’t accept clicking the end point to take it!!

Creating points at the stations of an alignment,
I wanted to get the (x,y,z) of the stations of an alignment, but sounds not to work.
In the screenshots below, I got the message “The specified station is not valid for this object” and couldn’t proceed!

i need to put points on an alignment at each station. i've figured that part out. what i want is the station label to be the point description. i don't see a way to do this without editing each point which is way too time consuming.

I can do it with grips, but it's imprecise. In the project I am currently working on, I have some leeway regarding the slopes into and out of the vertical curve, so I have some flexibility, but some of the LPs and HPs need to precise.

When I create a report from 'Staion offsets to points' to excel, the Station, (what I would call chainage) is coming up as 3+10.00 in the spreadsheet. I need this to be 310.000 so I can apply formulas in excel. How do I change this.
I've changed the alignment label style to show it as this format, and it works fine. I've also gone into 'Edit report settings' and changed alignment station display to ####, decimals to 3 places, yet it keeps giving me the same format with 2 decimals.
Also, in this report, how do I remove the metre symbol 'm' (i.e 1400m) from the offset and elevation display?
I need to create an excel spreadsheet with quite a lot of data, apply formulas, and I really don't want to remove every 'm' and rewrite every chainage.

I need to place points automatically and in order sequentially along an alignment and I need to generate data from the points relative to an adjacent alignment. SO, two alignments, adjacent but not parrallel to each other. The data would then be point #, sta and offset from the adjacent alignment with the points placed in order and by window or crossing. I have a few thousand to place so one at a time would be an undesireable solution of course.

I have had a go with the AddAlign Labels command but could not figure out how to add an elevation value to the label. Also this method seems to require manual input for each label which is not practical as I will have have around 450 points to set out.

I'm trying to figure out how to export stills at separate points in a video, exporting 1 still with 15 seconds of space between them throughout the whole video file.
What I'm trying to do is to export hundreds of images from a movie but with some space between them.
I tried creating a batch that jumps ahead in the timeline 15 sec, but I cannot figure out how to export a frame at that point and then continue jumping forward 15 sec to do the same again. I want this to automate throughout an entire feature film.
I have 2 problems:
1. created a turbine whose blades are made from some planes that I applied thicken offset command. I applied circular pattern to multiply the blade around center point but i get too many planes and i must to make invisible each one. How can i make invisible all planes in the same time.
2. After i make them invisibile i exit from that part but when i start that part again or when i place it in an assembly all planes are visible. What should i do to make them invisible for ever.
My model is up in the top right of the planes. I cannot figure out why my origin planes are oversized like this. I have went through the browser and checked all the parts to see if something is out there, nothing. I have set auto-resize on origin planes and yet these are large.

I just installed inventor. When I begin a part there is no display of the planes, only the corner indicators show up when I hover over a plane. Also, when a part is created, only the edges show up when I hover over them.

Have been looking for a while but it seems hard to find information on workplanes
I've created Custom properties, parameters, to get the outside measure of the parts and it works fine until we create and leave activated a work plane outside the part so it measures not until the end of the part but until the plane.
