When I try to replace a component in Inventor 2014. It replaces it but does not update the tree in the browser. I have to manually delete the part and place a new one in.
View 9 RepliesWe are having an issue when we replace a component in Inventor Pro 2012. When we replace a component, the name in the browser does not update to the new component. We've even tried to close and re-open the Inventor assembly and that does not work. We end up manual double clicking the name in the browser and type in the new component name.

The model tree browser is freezing multiple times per day. Even if I close the browser and re-enable it in the View>User Interface menu, it is still frozen. It wont unfreeze until I close Inventor completely and re-open it.

I also want to reset the model parameters to start with d0 instead of d485.

I use Inventor 2013 as a single user, my company is about to invest in Vault and we are about to introduce a new automated Part Numbering Scheme as well.
I use a spreadsheet and iLogic rules as ‘Product Configurator’ to generate new iterations of my master assembly.
Now, the Assembly Browser in Inventor may display my assembly tree and its components by Part No or File Name or Default Browser Nod. See attached image.
This can be selected and set on the ribbon: click Assemble tab Productivity panel Rename Browser Nodes.
For example at Top Level Assy I have a rule to run other rules in components. Should I change the displayed components names on the Assy Tree the rules loose reference. So they wouldn’t run.
(for example: iLogicVb.RunRule("PANEL ASSY 2ndS:1", "Tie Rods & Washer Plates 2ndS")
PANEL ASSY 2ndS:1 is a component with a rule in it "Tie Rods & Washer Plates 2ndS"
This is the default Browser Nod Name and it could also be
- AAA-0111 --> Part No
- PANEL ASSY 2ndS.iam:1 --> File name
- PANEL ASSY 2ndS:1 --> Default
I suppose this can be avoided by not changing from Default, but what an inconvenience should we have to.Unless if there is an other way to reference our components in iLogic?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an assembly with two similar items in it and have written code to replace the component based on a given selection. If I try to change item one, nothing happens. If I change items two, it changes both item two as well as item one. In the attached screenshot item one should have a full cover panel and item two should be open; however, they are both the same. I have stabilized the browser by changing the names to "Leg One:1" and Leg Two:1) and the components that are being replaced are standard assemblies to be replaces with other standard assemblies.

I had a simple .ipt created from a 3/8" grade 50 sheetmetal template in an assembly, and decided that it could be 1/4" grade 50. I originally went into the original part and changed the sheet metal default to 1/4". After returning to my assemble and performing a refresh it blew away all my constraints I had on the .ipt after the thickness change. I also tried doing a save as on the ipt then changing the thickness as a new part number and performing a replace component with the same results to my constraints. I've also noticed issues losing constraints by performing simple replace component commands on similar sizes of TS but just changing length. Has something happened to our templates during the migration to the new version of inventor? I don't remember ever having this many issues in 2009 when replacing components of similar geometry with just a different length or thickness.

II need a way to tell if a component occurence is a virtual component.
I'm using a For Each loop to cycle through all of the components in an assembly, and if the component is itself an assembly to set the LOD to "Custom". I'm using the definition document descriptor object for this. When I press F1 Inventor opens the help on my default browser (Chrome), but when I click the bynocular it uses Internet Explorer.
Is it possible to force Inventor to use a browser of my choice or the default browser?
I have an assembly which has a few components suppressed.
My end results is another copy of the assembly (with copies of the all the parts) in another directory
Now i am able to create copies of un-suppressed parts using; (this allows me to SaveAs assembly components which are not suppressed)
DocumentsEnumerator = ThisDoc.Document.AllReferencedDocuments
And save a copy of the assembly using
ThisDoc.Document.SaveAs
I also added the fllowing snippet (which I am not sure what is does), but it does not work for me

When I open the newly created assembly, I still see the suppressed components in the model browser
I want to either;
Skip saving the of the components in the model browser (i.e. the Assembly)
OR
Delete the suppressed parts in the Assembly, so that they do not save altogether
I followed the instructions for removing the program on my computer but when I go to install the update I keep getting download error and try again,,

View 4 Replies View RelatedI made a change to my materials library. I changed the color (from dark grey to light grey) of one material. I then saved this back to my library.
Now, when I start a new part, I get a warning that the material does not match the library. So, rather than using the material in the part, I opened the template and updated the material to match the library. (Manage >Update Styles).
This is where the problems come into play. In the update styles dialog, if I compare materials against my custom materials and then compare it to my Favorites, it just a continuious circle. It is like the favorites are stored inside the part and do not get updated to match the custom materials library. (I thought the whole idea behind using a library was to get the information out of the parts).

The only way I can get the favorites to match is to delete the favorite material, update the style and the add the favorite back in. That is a bunch of work. The problem I got with this is that there are thousands of parts that have been created that has this favorite in it. The only way to update these is to open each part (if I knew which one), delete the favorite, update the materials and then add the favorite back in.
I see the same thing in 2013 and 2014.
Using Inventor 10, I have replaced several components of my assembly with new copies of the components to be modified into new parts. For some reason the model tree still shows the old part numbers, but editing the parts reveals that they are indeed the new parts. How to correct the part listing in the model tree?

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis just happened to me this morning, I split a part into a multibody part and as soon as I did the split, the entire design tree got greyed out. It doesnt matter if I have only one body visible or both of them, the tree stays greyed out. I can still edit features but its annoying to not know what is on and whats off. I opened a new file mocked up a quick part with various features performed a split and same results.
