AutoCAD Inventor :: Multiple Use Of An IMate

Mar 12, 2003

I have a bar and I want to place there several clips so that they are only moveable in one direction. Both of the parts have fitting iMates. When I place the first clip it works fine and the iMates get connected. But when I place the second the clip is draw elsewhere. Is it possible to use one half of an iMate more than once?

AutoCAD Inventor :: More Than One IMate With ILogic Suppress

Is there a way to put a bunch of imates under one line code?

I have imate iInsert:1 thru iInsert:49 I need them all suppressed when an event happens.

I can get it to work one by one but that would be a lot of code.

Tried a few other thing but seems not to work.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Can't Get Bolt To Snap To IMate

Dec 10, 2012

I'm working on a project in wikiHelp under Inventor tutorials, Content Center, Create iMates. When I pull the object up in an assembly I can create an iMate and it will show that I  made one. But when i go to the next page (Place Content Manually Using iMates), I can't get the bolt to snap to the iMate inside the object, the bolt just stays in one position the whole time.

AutoCAD Inventor :: IMate Like A Content Center Part?

When I place a part, such as a bolt, from the Content Center, it's immediately looking for the other half of an insert iMate. How do I make a part I created do that? I put an iMate in the part, but it had no effect.

It sure would save a bunch of time if this would work.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Autodrop Multiple Nuts After Autodropping Multiple Washers

Jan 26, 2012

(Inv Pro 2012, XP64, Vaulted Project and Content Center)When I'm placing hardware, the Autodrop function is really convenient.  Even better when the "multiple" pickbox is active, which from what I understand is when Inventor finds similar features on the same plane that the selected autodrop component could potentially mate to.

This is a huge time-saver, since I often have lots of bolted joints that all terminate on the same plane.  Sometimes however, even when the parts lie in the same "plane", the plane isn't contiguous in that a feature breaks it across.  No biggie, it just means I have to do two or three "multi-autodrops".

Once I put washers at the back side of the connections (which multiple works like a charm on), all of a sudden when I go to place nuts, each washer surface is now it's own plane, and multi-drop no longer recognizes all the other parts.  This can be a real pain manually placing 30 or 40 nuts at a time.

I think the "Bolted Connection" option might work, but I really don't have a need to store all those subassemblies, name them, keep them vaulted properly, etc.   That would be almost as much of a headache.

Also, most of the features that I'm connecting through are created as Hole features and as "nominal" oversized bolt holes as Inventor suggests when the "clearance hole" option is used for hole creation (not randomly extruded islands), but they aren't patterned as they don't follow a prescribed circular or rectangular pattern.

Am I missing something that I can do (like something stupid simple such as holding down the "alt" key or some crazy thing like that) that will allow inventor not just to suggest CONTIGUOUS planar features, but also CO-planar features so I can place all these nuts at once?

Short of creating a custom Content center part that consists of a nut / washer assembly I can't think of anything.  And creating and publishing the nut washer assemblies will eat up some time too, since I have about 50 different combinations (some SAE washers with normal hex nuts, some SAE washers with ESNA hex, some USS washers with jam nuts, some USS Type B washers with all-steel locknuts, etc...)

AutoCAD Inventor :: Part File With Multiple Instances Of Multiple Solids?

Apr 18, 2013

I'm designing a part that in Autodesk Inventor 2013 that is constructed from several layers laminated together. I have 4 layers:

F (front)

M1 (middle, variation one)

M2 (middle, variation two)

B (back)

The final solid will lhave 17 layers laid out like this:

F | M1 | M2 | M1 | M2 | M1 | M2 ... | B

I currently have a part file containing

F | M1 | M2

What's the best way to create this solid if I want to a) keep all instances of M1 and M2 in sync, and b) make it easy to work on all 4 layers. Do I have to export F, M1, M2, and B as individual parts and import them into an assembly or can I keep them in one part file? I really like the ability to be able to work on all the solids at the same time because they're visually dependant on each other.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Multiple Use Of IMates / In A Stamp

Dec 19, 2013

We have a frequently used bearing assembly for dampers, mounted to plate consisting of a shaft hole w/ 2 countersunk holes for flat head cap screws to mount the bearing.

I have a stamp for the hole array into the plate, and can individually i Mate each FHCS into said holes after placing in the assembly onto the plate.

Is there a way to set up the iMates so that the bearing assembly would plop in automatically into the two separate countersunk holes? Not sure if you would have to create iMates in the stamp...or if thats even possible.

Sometimes the damper may have 2 bearing assemblies @ opposite side of the frame for one blade shaft, sometimes we may have as many as 4-5 blade shafts (10 bearing assy's). So Im imagining dragging the thing to each iMated array and dropping it in.

AutoCAD Inventor :: IDW To DWG - Multiple Sheet Tabs

Oct 28, 2011

Is there any way to cause Inventor to convert a multi-sheet IDW to an Autocaf DWG file that puts each IDW sheet on it's own tab in the dwg?

IDW ---Sheet 1, Sheet 2, Sheet 3, etc

DWG - Tabs for Sheet 1, Sheet 2, Sheet 3, etc ALL IN ONE DWG FILE

This so we can do batch printing and not have to maunually assemble dwg file with multiple tabs from the individual dwg files generated by Inventor - as near as I can tell, there is no way to get Inventor to NOT create a separate dwg for each sheet in the IDW???

AutoCAD Inventor :: Springs Used In Multiple Assemblies

Jan 11, 2012

I have a spring that is used in multiple assemblies and in each assembly the compressed length is different. Plus the amount of compression is different.

What is the best way to model the spring so if I change the WD or OD, etc. all assemblies would update?

I tried adaptive, but that seemed to limit the relationship to a one-to-one not a one-to-many.

If I used iPart or the spring was derived from a table, where the OD & WD were constant, would the assembly models change when I changed these values?

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Run Multiple Rules Simultaneously

May 3, 2012

I have an assembly with multible parts which all have iLogic rules in them. I want to controle when the rules are executed in each part, thus I have set them as "Don't run automatically". These rules are iTriggered by the top assembly, if they are active.

Is there a possibility of how I can run multiple rules simultaneously?

The code below is an example of the controle rule that determines the rules to be run but it takes one rule at the time...

 IfComponent.IsActive("5580 Heating element package 1")=TrueThen
iLogicVb.RunRule("5580 Heating element basket 1", "iTriggerRule")
EndIf
IfComponent.IsActive("5580 Heating element package 2")=TrueThen
iLogicVb.RunRule("5580 Heating element basket 2", "iTriggerRule")
EndIf
.
.
.
up to x

I have also tried with For - Next statements...But the rules are run in the order that tey are written...

As the computer has a lot of memory in reserve; I want somehow all the iTriggerRules to be run at the same time as this would save a lot of time.

I can place multiple virtual parts if I append -1, -2, -3 etc to the part number but I would like to let Inventor use the :1, :2, :3 to keep track.
