AutoCAD Inventor :: Mirror Command Will Not Select Lofted Feature?
Jun 18, 2012I select the mirror command, but it will not select the lofted feature. All of the extruded features will select just fine.

View 5 RepliesI've created a simple loft using a sketched circle and a fixed workpoint. The loft feature is a loft to a point, with a tangent condition set at the workpoint.
I'm looking for a nice smooth 'button' like feature. However, as you'll see in the screenshot there is an annoying 'seam' or 'join line' running from a point on the circular base to the workpoint.
The 'seam' does not display when the loft feature is set to "loft to point" condition.
why this is displayed and am I able to get rid of it?
I'm using Inventor Professional 2012 64 bit
I would like to both flip and mirror (or pattern) a feature onto the opposite side of a rectangular extrusion.
For example (assuming a rectangular solid extruded in the Z dimension), I have two counter bored holes on the top surface of the solid aligned with the X axis and I would like a copy of those holes on the bottom surface but aligned with the Y axis. If I pattern the holes rotating them 90 degrees and then attempt to mirror them, I can only select all four or the two originals. Is there any way to disassociate the rotated copies from the originals while still retaining control over their dimensions from a single sketch?
Is it possible to create feature A mirror it to create feature B and suppress feature A without suppressing or crashing feature B? What I have are very complicated left hand and right hand features. I could create the B feature again but there are a lot of dimensions. I could mirror the sketch, but there are formulas controlled by iLogic in them, and mirroring a sketch seems to break those formulas and I only get the dimension.
If it is not possible it would be an excellent addition to 2014!
I need to mirror a feature to the opp side of a part, then supress the parent feature. Can this be done?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an ipart I'd like to create w/ surfaces. The surface color is important because we use that as plate thickness ID in FEA. When I color a surface blue, then another red I continually get the default color when using the mirror or array command. We're creating a customizeable ipart where there will be some intelligence surrounding how big the array (we may need 3, 4, or 5 beams based on the unit size). I need a way that the colors on the surface propogate to the new surfaces created by the commands.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use the command MIRROR to create a symmetric component from existing ipt there are two problems:
1. in the existing ipt dwg the dimensions were lost, when I update the dwg;
2. in the iam that contains the mirrored component the constraints were lost, when I update the dwg.
I use often the Mirror command and I want to optimize that. To end the Mirror command, you have to choose if you want to erase the source objects.
Usually,I don't want to erase the source objects so,this dialog it seems to be useless. What is the macro command that disable this dialog?
I am writing an add-in for Inventor 2010 where I need to get the list of entities/objects that are available through Inventor's "Select Other" functionality via the user Interface. I have looked through the list of selection tools in the API and none of them seem on the surface to be what I need.

The same sketch is embossed perfectly on a flat/round/extruded/chambered body, but on this particular lofted body I get an error ("Thicken operation would result in a large topology change. Try with a smaller thickness"). I already tried with 0.01mm thickness and still not work. What could be the cause. (I'm using IV 2013)
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs Inventor able to provide information about the bending angle of a lofted pieces ?
I'm trying to loft a piece from square to circle. The bender ask me what is the angle of this pieces.
I have tried to do a lofted flange. It works, but there is an extra bend that I don't understand why it is there. The bends, I would assume, should be symmetrical but they are not. I have attached the part.

I'm able to change the macro for the mirror button which works but only when I push the button. Before the cui file I remember everything was done from the acad.pgp or the acad.mnu files but with the new CUI file i can't seem to locate wher to change the actual command and not just the macro for the mirror button.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently working with an elliptic profile that needs to be unfolded. The part consists of two sketches, with each sketch having two ellipses. The ellipses on each sketch then forms a cross-section where the thickness of it is supposed to be 8 mm (the first ellipse is offsett).
My plan is then to generate a mold for the inner and outer sides of this part by using the "Lofted flange" function and Rip, since I want the flat pattern of it. However, I've found that I can not select my offset ellipse when using Lofted flange, only the original one. I'm thinking that this might be caused due to the offset ellipse not actually being an ellipse but a spline (I read somewhere that there are two ways of offsetting an ellipse. One generates a mathematical ellipse and the other a spline). Creating an new ellipse and then saying that the a and b distance should be 8 mm less than the other ellipse will work, but that will not give me a constant wall thickness of 8 mm along the circumference of the elliptic cross-section.
I am trying to create a loft to shaped a back cushion and then send the loft to all parts. But I do not see Loft as an option under assembly level.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am getting these white "ghost" boxes with every copy, move or mirror command. They can be individually deleted but that takes too long. The more there are the slower each command takes, to the point a copy can take over a minute. If I save and close then when I reopen they are gone -- until I execute a command. This is unique to a single file I recieved from a friend using a PC based Autocad; I use Autocad for Mac. I had no trouble with his file until I did a "Save As" and used it as a base for a new file. Now, every file that is a copy of it, even any file in which I x-ref it, has the same problem. All of my original, older files are fine. There is simply too much work in these (now) five files to start over. See attached.

The geometry for each end is in the attached file was draw in Auto-Cad and imported into inventor. Try to connect with lofted flange but only can select one piece of geometry at a time.
Tried to make them polyline's. {did not work} Do I need to create geometry in between them?
Why can't I get the "3DMIRROR" command to mirror the magenta box along a zx-plane defined by the middle of the steel T-angle?
First, I use the ZX option, and after that fails to work, I try the 3-point option using a picked first point and two ortho-points to define a zx-plane.
Also, there's some randomness in the sense that some of the time the exact same series of steps will produce the correct result, but not this time, as the video below shows.

I'm also attaching the drawing in AutoCAD2010 format.
still on this family quality control audit... i've come across some new and entertaining behavior.
several fmailies (face based) flip host sides with their flip controls as expected, but if i mirror them , instead of flipping along the mirror line as an accurate reflection, they ALSO flip top to bottom, AND around the face.
the right family in both views is the original, the left is the new mirror. (plan and elevation views in wire frame included) you can see it landed within the wall, and upsidedown.
Say you select all of the patterns on one half of the image.
Is it possible to mirror the selection, so that it selects the corresponding ares on the other half as well? Because it would cut down the workload by a fair bit.
In general, we can select the objects first and then run a command. I have a problem with this, autocad wont let this in my PC. If i select objects and run a command, autocad wont take the selection and prompts to select objects. I work on PC in a company connected to server, but the problem is only on my PC.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the weldment of a crane boom i have different parts. Some are identical, but (1:1) mirrored.ipt. Then I merge them in the BOM in order to set the qty on "2" in the partslist.
Here the error occurs: in the "mass" field in the parts list says "varies".
This keeps me from generating a good partslist and the total mass of the weldment maybe messed up. I personally think it has something to do with the fact that the parts are sheetmetals. i.e when I look atthe Physical properties of the folded / unfolded (of the SAME .ipt) they differ in the same way i see in the BOM.
I'm creating a VB.Net routine which will run the REVCLOUD command. In my application I prompt the user to select a single polyline using:
EntRslt = acDoc.Editor.GetEntity(EntOpts)
Then later I run the REVCLOUD command using:
acDoc.SendStringToExecute("_revcloud Object Poly No ", False, False, True)
Where Poly is the polyline I selected earlier. Of course, the line above doesn't work since "Poly" is interpreted as a string. But I would like to figure out how to pass my VB.Net selected Polyline into the REVCLOUD command.
How I might do this? The REVCLOUD command will not accept the "Previous" selection set so setting the Implied Selectoin does not work. If my Polyline was the Last object in the database I could use the "Last" option, but it isn't.
Is there any way to use the copy command in such a way that the new objects are selected when I'm done copying? Perhaps a LISP of some kind?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi am using Autodesk Inventor 2012 to design a pipeline structure. I have a problem when mirroring a 3D sketch with applyed frames. the problem is that if after the mirror operation i edit the original sketch, the modifications are not inherited by the mirrored part of the structure. in particular when i mirror a 3D assembly and edit the original assembly the modifications are made also in the mirrored part but the program does it in a wrong way as long as the constraints are not satisfied and the position of the parts are not the same as the original assembly.
How to mirror an object and preserving the link between the original and the copy in order to make modifications to all the parts mirrored in an easy way?
