AutoCAD Inventor :: Mirror And Flip A Feature

Jun 11, 2013

I would like to both flip and mirror (or pattern) a feature onto the opposite side of a rectangular extrusion.

For example (assuming a rectangular solid extruded in the Z dimension), I have two counter bored holes on the top surface of the solid aligned with the X axis and I would like a copy of those holes on the bottom surface but aligned with the Y axis. If I pattern the holes rotating them 90 degrees and then attempt to mirror them, I can only select all four or the two originals. Is there any way to disassociate the rotated copies from the originals while still retaining control over their dimensions from a single sketch?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Assembly To Avoid Work Of Forming Opposite Bent Part

Mar 19, 2012

I have a formed beam I would like to mirror in an assembly to avoid the work of forming the opposite bent part. I have mirrored it however the cuts in the lower side of the beam are mislocated as if the part were rolled over rather than mirrored.I am in Inventor 2012.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Suppress Base Mirror Feature

Jul 6, 2012

Is it possible to create feature A mirror it to create feature B and suppress feature A without suppressing or crashing feature B? What I have are very complicated left hand and right hand features. I could create the B feature again but there are a lot of dimensions. I could mirror the sketch, but there are formulas controlled by iLogic in them, and mirroring a sketch seems to break those formulas and I only get the dimension.

If it is not possible it would be an excellent addition to 2014!

AutoCAD 2013 :: Side Opposite Measurement

Oct 20, 2013

I needed to know the Side Opposite so that I could subtract that amount from a known line length.

I knew the angle (24) and the side adjacent (.9375) therefore SIN 24 = X/.9375      .0467= X/.9375   = .3813

When I measure the side opposite I get .4172

See attached screenshot.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 3D Mirror Does Not Inherit Part Changes

Jul 6, 2012

i am using Autodesk Inventor 2012 to design a pipeline structure. I have a problem when mirroring a 3D sketch with applyed frames. the problem is that if after the mirror operation i edit the original sketch, the modifications are not inherited by the mirrored part of the structure. in particular when i mirror a 3D assembly and edit the original assembly the modifications are made also in the mirrored part but the program does it in a wrong way as long as the constraints are not satisfied and the position of the parts are not the same as the original assembly.

How to mirror an object and preserving the link between the original and the copy in order to make modifications to all the parts mirrored in an easy way?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Doesn't Allow To Mirror A Part As Different One

May 15, 2013

Inventor doesn't allow me to mirror a part as a different part. In normal cases, I can mirror a part within an assembly and it allows me to give a new filename. Now, it thinks it is a standard part and wants to reuse it even if I uncheck the "reuse standard content and factory parts" box. How can I turn that off? Or mirror the component?

Illustrator :: Reflecting Object To Appear Opposite Side?

Aug 18, 2012

I have managed to reflect objects but cannot manage to reflect one object across the Artboard to show up on the opposite side. If you see my image below, I would like to reflect the horizontal stripe at the top of the design and make it appear at the bottom of the Artboard so it finishes the design. Almost all of the work I do requires only one quarter of the design to be created, then I could just reflect it across and then reflect it down so this would be a useful piece of knowledge

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Link Part Feature In One Part To Another

Jun 21, 2012

Very new to inventor 2012 coming form solid edge way back in the day (1998 to 2008)  to autocad 2d. getting ready to move to the inventor and trying to figure out some things.  searched videos , training etc but not even sure what to call it.

My questions are:

1. I design stamping dies and I will want to build sections from a stock strip with the outside then adding hole, dowels etc.  what is the best work flow for this? It is kinda the middle between top down and bottom up.

2. what is the best work flow for adding counter bore , dowel in the block and then having this tied to the mating block so if I move the location of the holes in the block then move as well?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create Non-associative Solid Base Feature In Second Part

Sep 19, 2013

“Associative body copy API Sample” 2013 API help.

The above code in the API help shows how to do an associative or a non-associative copy in an assembly of one part into another part. ..BUT the non-associative copy does not always work correctly....

I have been testing this sample code and notice the following limitations with the lower part entitled “Create a non-associative solid base feature in the second part”...

The code uses the proxy body for the source object but it does not use the proxybody for the target object and therefore the relative positioning is wrong for the nonparametricbasefeature when it is created in the target object if the real target body is in a different place than the targetbodyproxy (e.g. it has been rotated/moved in assembly space).

I notice that if you perform this manually using the “copy object” button the relative positioning is maintained correctly even if both target and source objects have been rotated/moved in the assembly...

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic To Change Feature Occurrence Upon Opening Part By User

Jul 9, 2013

I downloaded a model off a website, it is, (excuse my electrical background ignorance) a jumper for terminal blocks. Our electricians use these and cut them down to size as needed.

Is there a way to use iLogic and a form or message box, to prompt upon opening the part as to how many jumpers are needed for the current assembly> It comes stock with 10, but they sometimes only use 2, 3 4 etc. etc..

I didn't model the part, but I can if it will make the rule easier to write. My idea I suppose was to have the part modeled with 2 jumpers and then use ilogic to create more if necessary.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Bend Part Doesn't Work With Thread Feature Present

Oct 31, 2012

I've attached an example of a workflow we use to make different instances of products.part1 gets assembled in assembly1 which then gets derived in part2 to receive a bend.We use assembly1 in one place and part2 in another.(this is a simplified example, made with IV2013 SP1.1)

In part1, if you add the thread feature, the "bend part" feature in part2 fails after updating. This also happens if you try to add a "bend part" to part1 AFTER the thread feature, if the bend is present beforehand it does work.

Having the bend before the thread feature in part1 doesn't work with our workflow, because we need the assembly1 to be straight. In short, the thread feature is causing problems with "bend part".

I can't say if this problem was present in previous versions or even in the previous service pack since we don't use this workflow that often, especially with threaded parts, but i hope this can get fixed with a hotfix.

Using IV2014 Pro SP1 update 1, Win7-64bit
