AutoCad 3D :: Material Editor Window Will Not Open
Dec 18, 2013I'm trying to edit some material properties before rendering. But suddenly, I can no longer open up the Material Edit window. I searched and it said to look where it was last opened. Ok, I did that because I was using it this morning. But then it disappeared for good and I cannot figure out how to re-open it. I've cold booted my computer and restarted AutoCAD but the results are the same. So what am I missing. This copy is AutoCAD 2013 and it has SP1 and SP2 loaded.
UPDATE: OK...something weird happened. I finally found it but it was hidden beneath the other icons which I have anchored on the left. I was only able to get to it by carefully placing my mouse on a piece of it and dragging it out into the model space. So, what gives and how can I avoid this in the future?

May 9, 2013I have problems with material appearance in the frame generator. I have created a new material 316 stainless steel and assigned a specific colour to it. I have now decided to change that colour but it only changes when I change the material in iProperties of the part. I still get the old colour when I use the frame generator to change the material. The only way to change the colour of my material is thru the appearance tab in the frame generator pop up window.

Oct 2, 2012I was trying to add a new appearance to our libray this morning, got confused and started searching here and ran across an old thread of mine.
".... Note that you can have a single custom library that contains both physical materials as well as appearances, or keep them separate if you prefer...."
I had always thought that these were two seperate things. After I read this, I noticed in my .ipj that the Inventor Materials Library is listed under both Appearance and Materials.
I tried copying the "InventorMaterialLibrary.adsklib" but that did not work when I tried to add it under my materials library in the ipj.... It said "No Materials are available". HOW to go about creating a single library that contains both materials and appearances?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Autodesk Material Not Showing Correct Appearance
May 8, 2013Recently I have Installed Autodesk Inventor Proffessional 2013 SP 1.1 Update 2 on few new systems, it is not showing correct Material Appearance (Customised Material). I observed that it is not browsing images from correct folder location.
Following image showing error.
Older systms showing correct appearnace and it takes picture from following location shown in image.
I checked Application Options>File>Design Data (Styles, etc.) for new systems showing correct folder location i.e. From User>Public Documents.

Nov 23, 2012I have created Customized Materials in Inventor 2013.When I try to apply customized material to part it is showing different result for Drop Down list and for Material Browser.

Jun 19, 2013When selecting a material from the dropdown list the material isn’t downloaded correctly.
I had just edited the appearance for that material, pointed it to a new bitmap, then added the appearance & material to the library. Then purged it all from the document.
Restarting Inventor results in the material being downloaded from the library correctly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Create New Material Appearance Color Simply
Aug 24, 2012I know the material-appearance feature is appalling and badly implemented, but I can not wait until SP1, so any simple method of adding new colors to Inventor. I have looked through the wiki help and there is no simple explanation.
In our company the way we generally work with Inventor is to assign certain colors to parts and sub-assemblies, thus making it easier to build the final assembly. In previous versions of Inventor this was easily done. In 2013 some of the bold (primary) colors are missing and almost all of the various shades of these colors are also missing.
Migrating files across to 2013 has also caused problems with the color appearance not updating correctly. I won't go into the details but the problems and niggles aren't consistent, and there doesn't seem a way to clean/refresh the document library.
What I want is about a dozen bold colors (with a matte finish so when editing the part you do not have to overcome the optical illusion of starring into a morphed mirrored image of a carpark).

Mar 29, 2013We use different types of sheet metals, from stainless to bronze, and different thicknesses.
Currently, in order to show the correct material on a parts list, I have to duplicate the material Stainless Steel, and rename it to say 20 Gauge Stainless Steel. Then again for 16 Ga, 14Ga, 12 Ga, etc...
I'd like to have the parts list show the common material such as "Stainless Steel", with another column for the sheet metal style such as "20 Gauge."
We also use items such as Plastic Laminate. I'd like to create a generic material for the physical properties of "Plastic Laminate", and then change the material appearance to say "Formica #1234 Walnut". Again, i'd like to be able to put this in (2) columns on the parts list.

Now i edit the text and want to write a static text, not a prompted entry and none from that list, but i cannot get the empty, white, window, like in the picture, and like when i start a new text.
I am forced to choose only from the list.

May 6, 2013When I pull up material it list 1 density but when I go to iproperties that material has a much different density therefore giving an incorrect. mass reading. 2 1/2 days to install 2013.

3ds Max :: Can't Reset Material Slots In Material Editor
Feb 28, 2011Im on Max 2011 with sp1 and the latest hotfix installed, working with vray 1.5 sp5. When i try to re-set mu material editor (compact not slate) i get the folllowing error message
"Runtime error: cannot assign undefined to material editor slots" and a Macro_media utilities window opens with the following script

I'm not a scripter but it seems that there is no material defined to place into the slots on re-set. I've recently had a problem with my material editor not giving me acess to slate as i had loaded up my 2010 menus into 2011 but i've since re-installed max and vray and am still getting this.
AutoCad :: Properties Line Equal But Appearance (print Preview And Printing) Different
May 2, 2011The lines apear with different width, but they have the same properties (layers, pen , thickness etc...). AND THERE s NO supperposed lines. The only thing different is one have vertex z, and the other only x and y.
Have tried following solutions:
match properties,
flatten image (all z with 0),
repair archive with audit, regen
copies past theses line in a new archive,
print with different printers...
nothing change.
Something more strange there, when i draw line they are with x and y vertex. When i draw circle it have also z vertex, wich made another apprarence... .
Illustrator :: Gradient Text Preview - Appearance Pane
Jul 22, 2013Just passing along this preview "glitch" in CS5 that could cause some headaches or costly reprints.
We had a file where some text "appeared"on screen as a solid fill even though it was mistakenly filled with a gradient in the colour panel.
When the job was output the type was missing.
Upon investigation it was noted the text was filled with a gradient through the color panel....however the preview did not reflect this. The proper way to apply a gradient to text is in the appearance panel> add new fill>gradient.
This will preview the gradient in the text properly. Shouldn't there be an friendly error message or pop up to warn users that this fill option is not available?

Image files always appear in a second window but will open no larger than will fit into this first window. Once open I can open my image window to extend beyond the original empty window. If I have images open and I close this empty window my images close too. How did I become so unfortunate and how do I become fortunate again?

In Ps CS5 I used to be able to move the image edge to well within its window to facilitate work at or near an edge. This is not possible for me in Ps CS6 and I can find no way to change it.

3ds Max :: No Material Editor Is Available?
Mar 5, 2011Due to some reasons I had to (first i've repaired 3ds max, but it couldn't start at all - "not responding" from very first second of opening 3ds max shortcut, and after that) uninstall and reinstall 3ds max 2011. From first open try it had ribbon problem, but ok, not using ribbons too much. But after working for a half day, there's some problems with material editor too...
What i should do now? repair it or uninstall and reinstall it again?

Dec 8, 2012I don't think that my PSP X5 (or X4) is presenting the images the way the tab had intended. I've done several complete re-installs and the remainder of the program seems to be working, except for the Manage tab. I can see the images displayed in the tray portion of the window and the highlighted image name shows above the large preview window, however there is no image in the preview window.
The area becomes populated with images if I switch to the Thumbnail view, but the small preview window palette is blank. If, while in the Preview mode if I click on one of the effects, the effect is created in the tray. Another thing that I've noticed is if I use the Magnifier tool in the empty area (where the preview should be) I can actually see the magnified image in the tool.
InDesign :: Text Wrapping Window Is Totally Empty?

Yesterday, everything was OK but not today. I don't understand why and I don't know what to dot. I restarted InDesign and the computer but nothing changed. The other setting windows are OK.

3ds Max :: Material Editor Has Disappeared
Jun 14, 2011My material editor won't appear when I click the button on my tool bar. The button toggles between on/off but the material editor menu never actually shows up. I've restarted my computer, I've minimized then maximized the program window, I've moved the program window back and forth between both of my monitors, I've tried opening it by hitting "M"...nothing seems to work.
