InDesign :: Text Wrapping Window Is Totally Empty?
Feb 5, 2014
Here is a strange problem since this morning. The text wrapping window is totally empty! I don't have any setting options anymore.
Yesterday, everything was OK but not today. I don't understand why and I don't know what to dot. I restarted InDesign and the computer but nothing changed. The other setting windows are OK.
I am drafting a lengthy document, including copying and pasting passages from other documents, and on one page the text only goes half way down the page (even though the text frame fills the whole page) before jumping to the next page ~ how do I remove this empty gap in the text?
I made a prompted entry, for example, in a sketched symbol, again, for example.
Now i edit the text and want to write a static text, not a prompted entry and none from that list, but i cannot get the empty, white, window, like in the picture, and like when i start a new text.
I am setting a mailer for a customer. Im using datamerge to to populate the addresses. I keep getting the one or more empty field names error when I try to bring in the list and I am not sure why. Here is a screen shot of the list All the information seems to have headings like it should so I dont know what the problem is. I now some of the field dont have date but it needs to be that way because some of the entrys do. I am Indesign CS6 on a MAC.
And several related questions. This is new to me in Ps CS6 (Mac OS 10.7x, dual displays). Image files always appear in a second window but will open no larger than will fit into this first window. Once open I can open my image window to extend beyond the original empty window. If I have images open and I close this empty window my images close too. How did I become so unfortunate and how do I become fortunate again?
Related questions:
In Ps CS5 I used to be able to move the image edge to well within its window to facilitate work at or near an edge. This is not possible for me in Ps CS6 and I can find no way to change it.
Why is there a default empty window when you open the app on Mac? All previous versions let you view your desktop if you don't have an open project. Is there a preference setting to get rid of this?
I don't think that my PSP X5 (or X4) is presenting the images the way the tab had intended. I've done several complete re-installs and the remainder of the program seems to be working, except for the Manage tab. I can see the images displayed in the tray portion of the window and the highlighted image name shows above the large preview window, however there is no image in the preview window.
The area becomes populated with images if I switch to the Thumbnail view, but the small preview window palette is blank. If, while in the Preview mode if I click on one of the effects, the effect is created in the tray. Another thing that I've noticed is if I use the Magnifier tool in the empty area (where the preview should be) I can actually see the magnified image in the tool.
way then using the text wrap thingy to wrap text around a object? cause the option that comes with the text tool to make it curve sucks. I want to wrap the text around the inside of a circular saw (theres a perfect white cirlce in the center of it)
I'm a writer and what you see below was my first published article back in 1999, therefore I would like to have a good copy. As you can tell, the newspaper in the image is beat up and faded, so I thought I would chop up the JPG, lay it all out again in PS and fly in my text.
When I select text from WORD and paste it into a PS Text box, there are enormous gaps in between sentences. How I can fly my text into the re-done article so it looks exactly like the newspaper copy, except the text is crispy and clear-y.

Text - I tried to lay it out so it would sorta fit the format of the original article. FAIL
I'm trying to find a quick way to realistically wrap text onto the surface of this sphere, and initial experiments in CS2 with the Arc warp and some perspective finangling have proved below expectations.
how do I use the text tool to wrap text around an image. Just like any news site or editorial site where the text wraps around the image and there is padding added to the image so the text is not right up against the image.
I want to be able to control the wrapping and I know there must be a way with PS CS.
I'm attempting to use the "emboss" feature and wrapping the text to the surface of the part.
Attached is the example of the part I am working with. Also attached is the error message I receive after attempting the process. Is there another way to wrap the text about the surface of a "coiled" face?
wrapping a continuous line of text around a 90 degree bend. The third attached image is exactly what I need it to do. That is something I just put together as an example though.
I have some repeating information that I want to wrap around the border of an image. Being that it is repeating information, the text can also look like the first and second image uploaded, where part of the word is cut off. I would prefer this to be minimal though.
So far all I have found in my time searching on this leaves the words distorted.
No matter the complications, this also needs to be scripted. It is not feasible to do this manually as the repeating information is dynamic.
EDIT: The upload for the thumbnails is off. Added Details.Attached File(s) textwrap2.jpg (8.9K) Number of downloads: 19 textwrap2.jpg (8.9K) Number of downloads: 17 textwrap.jpg (8.38K) Number of downloads: 7
how to Wrap the text shown here. Obviously the Column labeled "ITEM NO." would be 1, 2 , 3 etc. So I would like that column to be smaller. When I make the column smaller, the wording disappears.
I am trying to create an attribute with multi-text and I am unable to get the text to wrap. I have the boundary width option checked and specified, but the text doesnt seem to care and keeps right on going....
I am trying to create a paragraph of text & the text is not wrapping! I am creating a large text box, but the text just disappears when it reaches the right edge of the box. I know that I have been able to do it before, but now can't. I have closed program & reopened, but no luck.
What i'm looking for is the equivalent of using "Path along text" (in this case for a circular path) but using already rendered bitmap data instead of text and a font. Why i need to do this is: 1. i don't have a font for the logo text i created (i don't think one exists) and 2. i would like to add some effects before "wrapping" the text around the circle.
I'm having so-so success with "distort -> polar coordinates" .
Is there a way to export text from InDesign to Photoshop and preserve the type as editable text in an area text box, similar to the export to PSD in Illustrator? Designed many web site pages in InDesign, and now need to covert all pages over to Photoshop quickly.
I have hundreds of diagrams in Microsoft word that need importing to Indesign. I have imported the illustration part of the diagrams via Illustrator but i now need to bring in the diagrams' text labelling.
The diagrams have a lot of text labels which each appear in their own text box, but if I save the .doc as an rtf and import it into InDesign, it imports all my individual textboxes into 1 large textbox which I can't seem to separate them from.
If I select one of my labels in Indesign and copy and paste it, it is now a separate text box - great, but InDesign won't let me select multiple text boxes within it's large text box and it just is not feasible for me to be selecting each box individually to cut and paste it.
Edit: Each individual text box (within the large textbox they have been imported into) appears to have been anchored on import. If I release the anchor this does what I need in the same way as cutting and pasting, but again, indesign won't let me select more than one and it would take far too long to select each box individually to release it. So I guess I'm either asking for a different import methos, or a way to select multiple textboxes that have been imported into a single text box.
I'm printing a document trying to get two out of each page. I imported text, formatted it within Indesign cs3 and not it's time to copy the block and paste it onto the right side of the page. But the pasted version had a .50 tab at the first word which does not exist on the original side. How do I fix this?
I'm a web developer currently slicing an illustrator file for web graphics. Some of the icons and images have shadows, lights, etc, and it's impossible to simply see by a naked eye which pixels contains some shade or nearly transparent color and which doesn't.
It would be extremely useful if I could somehow easily differentiate between empty and non-empty pixels, so I wouldn't miss any when slicing.
I have been using PSP9 for many years now. However, after trying out PSP X5 I liked some of the new features, so I decided to upgrade. Now I'm starting to regret it... For some reason, the new version creates this little "empty space" at the end of text which I cant figure out how to get rid of! I attached a screenshot to show you what I mean. Is there any way to remove this?
I could add an empty text value within an multi value list in inventor 2010, but I don't think i can do the same thing in 2013, is there a possible way to do it?
Btw, when by an empty text value I dont mean a space.
Trying to remove any text frames with empty content but it doesn't seem to be removing correct textFrame layers?
var numberOfEmptyTextBoxes = 0; var layersWithNoText = new Array(); if ( app.documents.length > 0 ) { for ( i = 0; i < app.activeDocument.textFrames.length; i++ ) {
