The above code in the API help shows how to do an associative or a non-associative copy in an assembly of one part into another part. ..BUT the non-associative copy does not always work correctly....
I have been testing this sample code and notice the following limitations with the lower part entitled “Create a non-associative solid base feature in the second part”...
The code uses the proxy body for the source object but it does not use the proxybody for the target object and therefore the relative positioning is wrong for the nonparametricbasefeature when it is created in the target object if the real target body is in a different place than the targetbodyproxy (e.g. it has been rotated/moved in assembly space).
I notice that if you perform this manually using the “copy object” button the relative positioning is maintained correctly even if both target and source objects have been rotated/moved in the assembly...

Nov 13, 2013i would like to use 3d dwg files from the 50 wood joint library for cnc processing. Therefore i load a dwg file (like attached) into account and want to start editing the wireframe, but thats not possible. Furthermore I expected to be capable of producing a solid for further processing in a CAM software.
How can I edit and make the attached geometry a solid?

Aug 7, 2013At my company, we do a large amount of work with sheet metal parts and assemblies. On our drawings, we like to do "detail" views of the flat patterns of each part of the assembly. Basically, how we do it now is insert a base view of the assembly and the BOM onto the first sheet and then on separate sheets, we place base views of the flat patterns for each of the components that will be cut on our cnc plasma table. We use the item number to denote which part it is in the assembly. Is there any way to pull the item number from the assembly BOM and use it as a parameter that can be inserted into the view label? Right now, it's a nightmare if the assembly BOM is modified because we have to go back in to each view label and manually change the item number.

Actually, I need to modify part color. But in some cases, the part color and the solidbody color are not the same. So I need to modify the Solidbody color, to match the part color.
I found the bodies in ComponentDefinition.SurfaceBodies, but I can't find something like ComponentDefinition.SurfaceBodies.Item(1).color.

So what I need to know how to do is remove just this one face from my solid, turn it into a seperate part so that I can create a lip on the solid for it to set on once it is reasymboled.

Unable to start application (0xc000007b).
I already tried several fixes like:
1. reinstall all redist(x64 & x86).
2. reinstall .Net 4.0
3. Use CCleaner for Registry error.
4. chckdsk for error and fix.still error so I've gone through this.
5. I uninstall Autocad 2014 completely, uninstall it manually one by one,deleted left over folder of autodesk or similar software to it, deleted its registry keys.just like the instruction on how to remove autocad completely in autodesk, I just followed it all. [after Reboot]
6 I Re-install it and still the problem persist.
AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Trial X64 Impossible To Start
Feb 8, 2013I just spent my afternoon with a prospect who just want to install Inventor 2013 from the downloaded trial version. He's on windows 7 home premium x64 SP1, everything seems fine, but he's unable to launch inventor after installing it.
We chose Inventor 2013 (not pro version) with some content center libraries, without Fusion or Vault.The installation went fine with no antivirus (he's using Microsoft security essentials) and UAC disabled (minimum level).He rebooted the computer and then tried to launch Inventor and saw the message attached.
He tried alone for 3 days, and I called him today to try different things (first we tried to install inventor pro but there was a problem with some moldflow component error 1920, which is unsolved for the moment according to the different topics in the forum).
We had to manually uninstall Inventor and the different components (delete the folders, and manually go through registry to delete the keys), then reboot, run ccleaner 3 times, and then install in C:AutodeskInventor 2013
He also tried to download and run Autocad Mechanical and has the exact same problem. The installation runs well, but when he wants to run ACAD, he has the same error message.

May 30, 2013In attempting to use either 'export face as' or 'export sketch as' from a solid model in Inventor 2013 the resultant DXF file ALWAYS consists of PolyLines. This prevents other "downstream" software from properly importing the file as a DXF. Thus far the ONLY work-around I have found is to open the DXF in AutoCAD, Explode the polylines, and then re-save as a DXF from AutoCAD.

Aug 12, 2013I have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?

Dec 13, 2012i am having a hatching issue, it seems no matter what hatch pattern i use and what hatch scale, alot of the hatch looks solid instead of the pattern i want, for example i am using currently ANSI37 @ Annotative with a scale of .20 and on the same paperspace page one plan with the hatch shows the cross hatching and the other one below looks solid (see attached) now i can go and say change the hatch scale and it reverts to the cross hatching, but then when i zoom out it goes back to "solid" is it a graphical issue?

Sep 30, 2013I'm doing a fairly big one-off for use at our factory so am going the multibody ipt route. I have a design view setup within the ipt with nearly all solids switched off but when working within a sketch this seems to be ignored. I want to make sure I am projecting from sketches not bodies so if I need to tweak things later and bodies change the model won't fail.
I.e. the bodies all become visible when working in a sketch where as before going into the sketch the bodies weren't showing.

AutoCad :: Edit Xrefs To Correspond To Base Model Space Layering
Oct 29, 2013Is it possible to edit xrefs so that the xref layers correspond to your base model space layering? In other words, when you do an xref edit in your base drawing (not separate xref file) the layering will react to your edits using base plan layering? I use on screen layer tool bars and xref layers are on a separate layer and do not respond to these toolbar.

Dec 20, 2012I've just upgraded from 2011 to 2013 and come across this problem.
In 2011 I could edit a component from the top level anywhere in the tree - i.e. From an iLogic rule in the top level, I could edit a component in a subassembly.
This doesn't seem to work in 2013 - I can only edit the first child of a component.
In 2011 I could simply use :

I have parts with lots of faces and need to rotate all the faces at the same time, like 2012.
Also, I need the changes to be updated in all iparts, whereas at the moment the Adjust only seems to affect each one. Again, much less limited, but I need the option to update all at once too.
AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Cannot Edit Existing Features?
Jul 15, 2013I keep finding it impossible to edit existing features from models/assy. Even if I change only 1 dim in the sketch. Once I close the sketch. The feature fails. I then try to edit the feature and I will see that the feature direction has changed, but invenotr will not allow me to switch it back. Basicallly there is no editting power at all.
So you only way I have found to complete the job is to delete the feature and then put it back in.
Is this part of the new way of inventor 2013 or is this another time wasting glitch?
Also now when I edit a sketch I must delete all of the dims, then edit and then put all dims back.
Is this also part of the new way or the direction autodesk products are heading?

May 19, 2012I have three workplanes. All three were created the same way (offsetting an existing workplane). I want to change the offset dimension. I can on one of the planes, but on the other two, I have to "Redefine Feature". There is no Edit dimension available in the menu.

The only way i see is to "save styles to style library", but with this feature only the NEW created materials get saved in the library. But how to delete or modifiy materials that are already in the library?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Turn Off Edit Dimension When Created 2013?
Aug 14, 2012I have been using Inventor 2013 for a few weeks now and for the life of me I can not work out how to turn off the automatic "Edit dimension when created" .
I do know that there are "Edit dimension when created" checkboxes in both the Edit Dimension window and under Application Options. But everytime I restart Inventor, the program seems to forget that particular custom setting and always switches "Edit dimension when created" back on. So that on the first dimension I create, the Edit Dimension window pops up.
For additional info Inventor remembers many of the other custom settings (e.g. compact tool bar, active button on the Quick Access Toolbar, etc...)

Jul 15, 2013Tried to do something that all other 3D softwares seem to have no problem with, even inventor at least when we were using the old versions.
Editting sketch - close sketch. No model update.
This is an existing 3D model created with inv2011. inv2013 does not like much of what we created in the old releases of inv.
Sketch gives me 1 dimension. Part and drawing give the old dimension value.
This is yet another major sign of unstable software. Over 24 software issues discovered from changing inv2011 to inv2013.

Sep 19, 2012I'm trying to split a single solid body into 2 solid bodies. The problem is that the body I'm trying to split consists of two separate pieces. I can split a body when it is a single piece no problem, but I'm having the problem when the two pieces are not joined at all.
When I try and split it on the origin plane it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Could not build this Split"
When I try and split it on a work plane lying on one of the pieces it gives this error:
"Creating parting line failed. Modeling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs."
Or, another variation on this erorr:
"Creating parting line failed. Split feature could not create two bodies. Change the Split Tool so that split feature can create two bodies."

May 28, 2013I am using 2013 and have a few 3D objects in the modeling space that I am using view base to put different views of each into the paper space. When I do this and export to PDF, I get an extra green line from the paper space. I have deleted and replaced the view and have tried different views with varying sucess.
Some pieces simply need a different view, however I have one that will not go away. The different view does really solve the problem either because I need the view with the problem. I have attached a picture of the issue, but it is just a chunk to protect information that I cannot share. The gray in the drawing is the part, the green line should not be there. The green line only shows up on the PDF, not in modeling space or paper space.
