View 6 RepliesI have created a linetype with the text GAS OPTION in it. The line is continuous with a break around the text. In a straight line the linetype works fine (breaks around the text etc). However, when I use a polyline and spline the line for a curved line the text aligns with the direction of the line at the start, but when the line bends, the text suddenly changes direction and reads in the opposite direction. It looks like AutoCAD is trying to keep the text upright rather than following the direction of the line. When the text changes direction it also changes its insertion point and overlaps the continuous part of the line. I have 2013 AutoCAD.
Here is the string I used for the linetype.
*GAS_Option_LINE,Gas line ----GAS OPTION----GAS OPTION----GAS OPTION----
A,8,-15,["GAS OPTION",STANDARD,S=2.54,U=0.0,X=-2.35,Y=-1.27],-12
I am having an issue in trying to get my hole axis to offset in the opposite direction. In the image below I want the slot to be centered on the hole. I can get it to offset moving the slot to the left, but can't get it to go to the right. I have tried a negative number, but both positive and negative move it to the left.

It's calculation is OK. And drag it,the rotation is good, But the direction is opposite. The tooth's move opposite direction to each other.
I used Autodesk Inventor 2013, And sp2, update DL22436649.zip But, this appeard before And after sp2 patch.
I made a half section view and it cuts what's above the plane of section in the Z direction, i mean all that's above this plane.
I want it to cut everything that's underneath, below the plane, at my choice, so i can inspect everything what is above the plane of section.
I have been a long time user of Photoshop Elements, I think since version 2 or 3. I went from 6 to 10 earlier this year and have been working with a Trail version of 11 for a few days now. Overall, I like it, but like so many companies do, when they address a major concern of a large group of customers, they go too far in the opposite direction.
Two major complaints about PSE up through 10 are that it is A) too dark and B) the control icons/text are too small and difficult to see. This is mostly a complaint of the visually impaired. (Which is an interesting side-discussion, given that photography is a visual art).
Although I liked the dark layout, I tended to agre with most users about the latter complaint. The icons and text were difficult to see even for people with good vision. With PSE 11, I see the exact opposite, the layout is too bright for my tastes. After all, the purpose of this software is to work with images. A dark layout lets me focus on the image itself, and not be distracted by the controls.
That much I can adapt to, but the bigger problem is the screen real estate taken up by the Tool Options. It's HUGE! Especially when working with images in a vertical format, which represent a significant percentage of my images. For example I love to play around with vertical panoramas, an often overlooked way to capture a scene such as tall trees, buildings, etc.
I am finding myself constatnly havign to toggle back and forth between the Tool Options bar, and even with the F4 keyboard shortcut, it's a pain in the butt.
my opinion is that Adobe fixed a couple big problems for a lot of users but went too far and created a different set of problems for many other users.
I'd like to see an option between dark and light layouts. Let users decide. Kinda like making the program skinnable, but not all that many options are needed.Or... how about an auto-dimming feature? When the mouse is hovered over the image area, while working with the various tools, automatically dim the surrounding panels and menu bars. Then, when you move over the panels and menus, they would return to normal.Second, find a better solution to the Tool Options bar. Either make it A) moveable, like the other panels, B) resizeable, or C) auto-hide it.
At this point, I've almost decided that the size of that Tool Options Bar is a deal breaker and I won't upgrade. Vertical real estate is hard enough to find on computer monitors and Adobe took up 25% of what little I had. I'll wait for a future version to see if they take it back the other way.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a shape that happens to have many nodes; it was simple to extrude it (inventor saw it as a complete shape) but adding fillets is another story. each tiny segment requires a click to select it. is there any way to simplify this — either through simplifying the path somehow or by selecting the edge in some other manner?
i saw a thread on the forums about imported 2d vector files with a similar issue. I did import my file but it came from rhino. everything is fine except this one issue. i guess i could go back to rhino but i would prefer not to.
i have attached a small screenshot of one area of my sketch.
I have come to Inventor after using Pro-Engineer and Solidworks. How to find the inspect tools difficult to use? The effort required to find the radius of a fillet (for example on imported parts) is huge. I am using IV 2013.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm detailing a simple square plate with a good number of holes in it. I create an ordiate set running vertically along the LH edge and select the holes that are close to that side. Origin is the lower LH corner. Works great, easy.
The holes that are closer to the RH side though I'd like to show on that side. So I go to create a second ordinate set for the RH side and choose the lower RH corner as the origin and choose my holes that are close to that edge. The 2nd set will automatically show a second "0.000" dimension on the bottom edge and I can't supress it by right clicking.
Is there a better way to do this? What I've done now is to not use a set but just choose ordinate dimension and go from the opposite edge, which works.... But alignment is better with a set.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a path with a smooth point. The two direction points form a direction line with any non-45-degree-angle - say 11.8 degrees. I want to drag one direction point while keeping the angle of exactly 11.8 degrees.

How to make a type of material go in one direction or by another degree . Ex: if you click on a wood type material, it goes up or down and right or left depending which side of that object is. On the picture below, it goes up and down, side to side no all sides go in one direction. I need to know how to mange the direction of the way of where the material go.
View 7 Replies View Relatedis it possible to define a 'natural direction' at a pin, in which a wire should start when connected to that pin? This would seem to be natural for me.
As the attached picture shows, my wire is connected at this pin in a weird direction (because I need to route it through the indicated segment).
What is the best strategy to do it correctly?
Another question: I increased the diameter of the segment, hoping that it means that the wires are constrained within the segment, but are free to move withini this. But they all seem to be constrained to the centerline. What I want is that all my wires pass within this 'tube' of 30mm diameter.
In an assembly, i make a half section view, but i want the other side to be seen.
I want only to change the direction of the view, how can i do that?
I have an ipart. One dimension is either some value or null.It is a variable in the Table. For instance I have 6mm down from Center point in part A. Than I switched to zero for Part B and if I go back to 6mm for Part A the dimension is now above the Center Point. How to make the dimension stay as initially assigned?

I'm new to Inventor and I've been working on a complicated part for quite some time. However, I've just realised that I've made an error at the very beginning. I'm drawing the part in the YZ plane and extruding along the X axis. My problem is due to the fact that I began the drawing at x=0 when I should have began at x=7780mm. moving the entire part in the positive X direction? I've tried several approaches but none seem to work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently started drawing in cad, and i have a couple problems. At time now i am trying to learn more of isometric drawing and i have couple questions about drawing a particular figure:
21.jpg
So in there i don't know how to draw that "thing" witch i highlighted in red. I don't know at witch angle i should draw it's center(center length should be 50 cm). If I would know that, i could easily draw a isocircle above. So how do i find this "right" angle?
Second question would be about isofillets - i read here in forums that i should do them in isocircles, and i did that and i got good results - it looks very good, but the problem is, that in this drawing, it shows that those isocircles should have a defined radius - R6, R16 and etc, but if i do round corners with isocircles, i dont get that result(in R16 case radius is even way too big). So maybe there is a way to do them "right" and have them defined? I attached that drawing .
I have what I am sure is -not very complicated- part that has a goofy intersecting angle. I have created a plane for this angle to try and do the cutout but it extrudes at the 30 deg, where as I would like to extrude that 30 deg feature at 90 deg. Is this possible?
The RED text says "Currently extruding this way" (30 deg per the plane)
The BLUE text says "Want to extrude this way" (90 deg, in line with the from face basically)

Any easy or more reliable way of getting balloons to stay in the direction you want?
In the image i've attached you can see what normally happens when dragging a balloon in position on the left and what i desire (and accomplish after a lengthy fight) on the right.
Is there a way to make a balloon (3.30.4 in this case) go into the desired direction without having to fight with it?
Using IV2014 Pro SP1 update 1, Win7-64bit
When a parts list in an Inventor drawing is wrapped it always takes the bottom portion and kicks it to the left.
Is there a way to kick it to the right? So when you are looking at the BOM it reads such that item 1 is in the first group and not the second.
