AutoCAD Inventor :: Missing Components In Drawing?
Apr 9, 2013I made a simple aluminum frame with clear polycarbonate shields. Somehow, when I put it on drawing sheet, some parts behind the polycarbonate are missing. If i make the polycarbonate invisible, the missing parts appear again. This strange phenomenon started today. It didn't happen before, and no parts were missing behind the clear polycarbonate.

Mar 15, 2013I am working on a large plant piping project and while I've seen this behavior before I've never seen it this bad.
Attached is a screen shot of a small portion of the assembly drawing in which you can see a good example of what I'm dealing with.
At the top you can see a weld neck flange that appears to be attached to air where there should be an elbow. In the middle you can see that on one side of the elbow there is missing geometry.
At the bottom is another flange that attached to air where there should be an elbow. This drawing is littered with these errors and as such is unsuitable for even a reference document.
I have turned visibility of these components off and on without resolution. I have turned on tangent and interference edges without resolution.
I have translated a copy to ACAD to see if it's simply graphical but the ACAD file shows the same errors. I have checked parallel and perpendicularity and all is well.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Assembly Components Not Being Recognized In Drawing?
Jan 16, 2012Here is the history. I originally created a part with multiple solid bodies.
After creating it I was told we needed to make it an assembly. So what I did instead of recreating each component I called up the original multi-bodied part and did save as copies.
Then deleted the portions of the model I didn't need with only the part needed left.
Then I took all of those parts and assembled them together to form an assembly.
Now, here inlies the problem. When I go to make a drawin gof this assembly all of the balloons are coming up with the same item number as it was when it was a multi-bodied part.
It is clearly an assembly based on the model tree and the file extension.

Dec 3, 2012I recently downloaded a .SAT part from 3dcontentcentral.com and i would like to use it in an assembly i am creating. Problem is, once i pulled it into Inventor, I am unable to edit the part to match the dimensions necessary for my assembly. How do i go about editing this part? Is there a way that i can copy the components of the part and paste into a new drawing, save as a normal part, then edit? I have attached a screenshop of the part so you can see the Model tree.
p.s. I would simply redraw the part, however i am having a lot of difficulty getting it to look as i want it to.

Aug 26, 2011We usually create our assemblies and parts by modeling up solid bodies in one part file and using the make components command to create the individual parts and assemblies. I would like to either use properties or parameters in the initial part file to put in project information and have it carry over into the individual parts after using make components. That way the drafter has to put the information into one file and not 100+ when all the part files are made. I would love to do it with text type parameters but unfortunately haven't been able to do this since you can't export them (unless I am missing something). The end goal is to be able to put a parts list on a shop drawing grabbing the assembly but pulling custom information from the parts and trying to minimize the amount of work the user has to do by going in each part and adding the information.

Mar 9, 2012As an engineering company we have started to convert hundreds of our drawings from AutoCAD to PDF using a batch utility.
However every file that is converted into a PDF file is opened by a PDF Viewer. We want to prevent this.
I opened my *.pc3 file and removed the check from the appropriate box. See below
I press OK, then save the file and close. However when I reopen the file, I see the box for Openining in PDF Viewer has been rechecked. No matter what I do, I cannot permanently remove the check from this box.

If I have a file name "test.dwg" and run some custom command like 'openfile", AutoCAD opens "test.dwg" without any prompt.
The following code DOESN'T do the job I want.

Apr 1, 2013When I choose Open Drawing and the window pops up, it would be nice if the full path name of the file showed up on the bar where it shows the file name (see attachment). As it is I can't tell if this file is on my c drive or my back-up drive.

Apr 29, 2013if i need to rename or change anything in the iproperties of ipt, im doing it from the vault.my problem is that, when i change something in iproperties of an ipt thru vault, i have to open the idw to update it.
as most of the iproperties in ipt shows in the idw.
its easy to change the properties in vault. but its deleting its purpose if i have to each idw to make sure i have the updated idw.is there a code where i can open all idw and save the same file and checking to the vault automatically?

I can also link the result of the inputlistbox to the partslistrow.Item("Item").Value.
I am stuck here. I can not find the link/reference from a partslistrow to a document.
Is there a propertyfield that keeps the link? Or another way?

Jun 12, 2013Using the 'Run Other' rule I can run a rule to switch holes on & off in a part. The rule is in the part & the run other rule in the drawing. The drawing will only update once the part is open. I would like to see the part open when the rule is ran from the drawing, how can this be done?

It's ok if I go through file-open etc in a current Inventor session but I don't want to open drawings like that all the time. If I open 5 drawings at once they start up in 5 seperate Inventor sessions! I can't seem to find an option to change this, is it an inventor problem or windows?
