View 9 RepliesI have a 2D drawing in model space that is set on the front orthographic view. If you change it, using the viewcube, to "top", the drawing appears as a straight line because it is now looking at a top view of the 2D drawing. How can I change it so that the top view will display the whole drawing?
View 2 Replies View Relatedrecently i tried working with the modeling toolkit in maya 2014, and it works great in perspective, but for some reason when im in component mode and I try and make a marquee selection, the marquee does not show up although it does select the component.
After selecting some component and try moving then with the translate handles, it does not move at all, instead it deselect the components.I am able to middle click move components.
So i decided to turn off the modeling toolkit and everything worked fine with the classic manipulators.
I have a finished 3D model in AutoCAD (although I did import it from another program), and I want to create the standard orthographic views as easily as possible. This tutorial looked perfect [URL].........
but i ran into some trouble. At step 5, where it says to press Base or use the command VIEWBASE i get a window that will ask me to open up some kind of inventor file. The tutorial does not acknowledge this, but the rest of the instructions and result seem like just what I need!
Our customers insist that we provide our drawings in AutoCAD format and that the drawings have the views in paper space (layout) as well as the full scale view in model space. We are using an Inventor dwg to satisfy the requirement for AutoCAD format but I am not sure if we can get all of the views in model space and paper space without saving as an AutoCAD dwg and creating a viewport. I have used the "Insert in Model Space" command when you right click on a view, but this will only insert one view and then the command is no longer available. Is there a way to add all of the view to model space using this command?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWithin the drawing title block we have a 'Text' of type 'Custom Properties - Model' which pulls in a custom iprop from a model which is the models finished weight. This is a common way of auto populating title box entries.
The problem is that the sheet populates the text with the info related to the first viewport placed upon the drawing.
Whilst fine when planned for properly, I quite often encounter upon large multisheet detail drawings, that a user when detailing an IAM, will have forgotten to put the IAM view down first, especially later in the drawing series where the IAM is not required and the user is detailing IPT's.
What I am looking for is a way to change which viewport the border properties are related to ideally, so that if a user has forgotten to place the IAM but has placed 20 IPT's down, I could place an IAM outside of the maximum area, as the 21st object but fool Inventor into thinking this was the first viewport placed down, thus populating the border info correctly.
I don't know of a way to do this currently, either with current Inventor functionality, or by programmatic approach - our current fix is to have the user create another drawing sheet, place the IAM outside the maximum area, copy all his IPT viewports across from the first sheet, then delete the first sheet. Is it possible to change the object order of placed viewports with less disruption?
I am currently attempting to dimension to a spline in an orthographic drawing and running into some issues. I can't seem to find a way to properly dimension rather than making microscopic holes in the piece and that way giving the .idw something to grab on to for dimensioning.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty new to AutoCAD,.Now I've managed to "design" a bridge and add textures etc.. Nothing as fancy as what most of you might be able to create but still learning.
Now, what i was looking to do, was print off 2D elevation and plan views of the bridge, but unfortunately the result is awful.
I have modeled object from top and from profile. How can I merge these two views into one 3d model? I tried sweep and extrude but that didn't give any results . These are the top and profile view.
View 9 Replies View RelatedApparently in 2012 and confirmed in 2013, the drawings listed in the Model Views tab are seemingly unsorted. It's certainly not sorted by date or by name, which makes it difficult at best to find a file by name.
Does any copy of 2008 or earlier that could check this out, since this post says it sorted alphabetically prior to 2009 (and as I recall, it did).Other references to this bug: URLs....
I need to put my 3d model on a piece of paper, so I need to have annotate and different views (FRONT and/or TOP and/or Right) of the model.
I tried to use FLATSPOT command, but all annotations (dimensions) are gone. Also, is there any easy way to do annotations?
I have a sheet drawing with all my background xref'd into it. How do I rotate the view in model space so it will show appropriately in the sheet view in paper space?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a way to insert links to views in Autocad in model space.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using project navigator and I want to use the intelligent title marks created by the Mode Space View drawing that is created when I use the Detail Boundary.
I have purchased a 5 hour block of support time on this and after 4 days they have not found a result for me and are looking to developers at this point.
My issue is this. I xref in the floor plan that I want to use to make some enlarged floor plan details out of. I have a custom high detail display configuration set for this view drawing. I use the detial boundary tool that adds the detail boundary and tag and then created my model space view with an intelligent titlemark that will then reflect the number and sheet when inserted into a sheet drawing.
The problem is trying to get this MSV to reflect what I see on the floor plan. As of now it just brings in a enlarged detail of the area but it's all the same color with no hatch detail.
I can change the result of what I get by selecting the “model space view” that I created and then going to properties and changing the “display controlled by” on the display tab of the properties of that object. If I change that to “Drawing default setting” then the result is set to whatever the drawing default settings are. It looks like the “default settings” for a 2D Section/Elevation object are “General” Display Representations.
how to get my custom “Bew_High Detail” display representation to be the default Display Representation of the “2D Section/Elevation” object then I think I would get my desired results.
I've never used batch plot before but I have a file that has multiple views set up in view manage in model space that I need to print. I've found instructions on how to do it from paper space but not model.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to set the sort order in Sheet Set Manager for the Model Views tab? Seems like a few releases ago it was alphabetical - now its random and almost impossible to locate a specific drawing in a large project.
Tried changing MAXSORT and it did not have an effect.
My group and I are getting an infrequent but annoying problem with Model Documentation (MD) generated views in paperspace layout tabs. We all on autocad 2013, with sp1.1 installed on x64 machines.
We are seeing objects/ blocks showing in the MD views (viewbase created) in the layout that are no longer in model space. One common factor in this is that these objects seem to always be externally referenced (xref) files that have been either unloaded or completely detached (both cases purges preformed afterwards to wipe any remaining blocks made no difference). In this latest case the ghost objects show up twice (we needed 2 of the same xref) at what appears to be the correct old coordinates.
We have no work around for this and when this occurs we either have to revert to an older version from vault or create a new dwg, port all information over and recreate all views. The interesting thing about this problem is that if we revert to an older version from vault, the ghosts do not reappear/ reoccur at the same commands they appeared at previously.
on a couple of my lager project i have recently had issues with Autodesk Civil 3D 2012 Freezing in Model Space switching between Isometric views. the number of view changes varies each time but seams to freeze during regen of the model.
I have checked the performace tuner and updated my driver, see Attached Log.
We are in the process of changing our CAD Stations over to Windows 7 64 bit, but im not scheduled for a couple more months.
System:

4GB RAM
Im working with Autocad 2012, havent done much with 3-d modeling. I have a model drawn and I simply want to print it with the top, front, right and an iso view on one piece of paper.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two models in Revit 2011 that have items that are not showing in any views. I restored a backup and tried to copy and paste between the two models and it warns me that there are duplicate items in the same area. Once I get this message all remaining components of that type show up.
I made sure the items weren't hidden or turned off in the model and the views.
I have a complex building which has floors that 'shift' meaning the floors are at different angles.
I have used sheets to create elevation pages using the elevations revit creates but as there is no shading it is impossible to tell that there are different layers to the building at different points (I have added photos to show this) It looks ok if I use the 3D model instead as that uses shadowing but I can only put one view of it in the sheet.
I either need to find out how to add shadow or how to add more views f the 3D model to show the buildings shape.
Am trying to convert this pump into solid ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.
I have a .dxf model and I need the file in .ipt format as a 3d model. (I got the file from a website)
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a second base view (using Layout/Create View/Base from model space). The problem is, I need it to be rotated from the original base view. However, when I rotate the part in model space, ALL of my views change.
So I guess my question is, how do I create multiple views of the same part that are seperate from the other base views?
i have views lets say 3 views on a sheet but in the list of views theres mores that appears maybe i inserted the extra views that are showing but i deleted them to put them on another sheet
the problem is they show up in the list of both sheet and i can't delete them from the list of the sheet that they were before
Also which view should I use as the top view?

I'm remaining with the orthographic projects of the object [see image] and the project is due some time next week. I'm having a hard time drawing the orthographic projections.
I use AutoCAD 2009.
the first 12 seconds, where he took a 3D model and created 3 other views with just a click.
I know it's a plugin but is there a way for AutoCAD to do this as well? It would make life so much easier for me.
the image above is a piping layout with two 45 degrees elbows. i drew the side view, then the the top view
now one of the 45 degrees elbow is replaced by a 90 degrees elbow. i don't how to draw this because the 90 degrees elbow rotate 45 degrees from the horizon.
i'm wondering how to get orthographic views isometric view (with some dimentions) from an object ive already assembled with proengineer (student).
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow could I get the idw views to name themselves? Instead of ” view 1”, “view2” why not have it name itself the file name, the same goes for a parts-list added to idw sheets? When slow clicking them to rename they already have the file name referencing the view or parts list. I have multiple views and multiple parts list on many sheets. Re-naming them is starting to get old!
I took a quick look at “ILOGIC” because that’s my “ILOGIC” speed and nothing jumped out at me.
