Apr 20, 2012Every time I try to create an ipart I get the error message of "failed to create desel table".

View 9 RepliesI created an ipart and on some of the parts i need holes in them and the others i do not. I use the hole feature and made my holes but it shows up on all of the parts. I go into the table and change all the holes for the parts i don't need to a dia of 0. now those parts wont work because of the error of having the hole dia set to zero.
Is there a way i can suppress the holes on the parts i don't what the holes to be in?
What I am looking for is a command similar to table replace, but that will allow for a new part to be created based on a user input. This will need to be done at the i Assembly level to an i Part that is placed within the assembly.
The end goal is to have input boxes come up, ask the user for the values then create all of the associated parts.
I don't need anything with the input boxes, just the part creation.
Get a message "Failed to export desel table" when i try to create an iPart, i have excel installed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a part that was derived from an assembly. However now I need to make this part have different center dimensions. Is there a way to make a derived part into an iPart without creating more parts? see attachment.
I am using Inventor 2012. BTW the part is more detailed than I am showing in the attachment.
I am using IV 2010. After creating a sheetmetal ipart my part grows slightly between each variance.
When toggling between the different parts IV says that they need updated. I have updated them but if I toggle back after updating the other parts IV wants me to update again and it creates a circle of updating. Does this mean that making a sheet metal i part is a half baked idea? Right now the way the program is responding to sheet metal iparts it would appear that you either cannot have a flat pattern or you part cannot lengthen or shorten the different variances with keeping the flat pattern. It would appear that all is well with part with exception of this updating problem. How to eliminate IV from asking to update in between variances while keeping the flat pattern? Also I am using sheet metal extens add in.
what this error message means. I cant find any reference to it in the help files.

Everything was perfect exept my arrangement drawing where I have used the master wiew from my model to make a drawing. When i returnd, this was locked. I'v deleted the wiews in the dwg file and I'v tried to make som new ones but the master wiew becomes invisible in the dwg sheet. Ewery other wiew works just fine exept this. I guess it's because it is a large file, but how can I fix it?

We have a conveyor belt profile, which covers a length of 2330 meters and a height of 150 meters. We have a place a elevation view of the profile in an idw file at a scale of 1:2500.
We would normal place detail views on the elevation view to zoom in on key areas of the belt, i.e. drive area etc. In all previous release of inventor had no problem. However Inventor 2013 displays the following error.
****************************************************************************************************************************************
Create Profile and Section View: Problems encountered while executing this command.
The specific inputs did not create sweep geometry (faces and.or edges). Try by changing path geometry and/or create the profile on a sketch plane that is perpendicular to the path and contains one of the path vertices.

I have attached the part file and also the idw file that we are using.
I have a subroutine which creates a WorkPoint with respect to some adjacent components in an assembly. As it happens, this subroutine is called twice; once for each of two different instances of a class. The particular snippet within the sub is:
Dim LowerYPt As WorkPoint = Nothing
Try
LowerYPt = AssyCompDef.WorkPoints.AddFixed(TG.CreatePoint(thisX, thisY, thisZ))
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.ToString)
End Try
At least one of the X, Y and Z values are different for the two passes. On the first pass, it runs fine. On the second pass, I get a runtime error:
“System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): Unspecified error (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004005 (E_FAIL)) at System.RuntimeType……….”
we've made a part from an assembly and put the stress analysis to the test. Unfortunately the analysis doesn't complete it's run, because of an error:
"An error occurred while creating the finite element mesh. The cause may be invalid geometry or features that are extremely small in comparison to the overall dimensions of the part. To fix the problem, please suppress those problematic features or use standard meshing method."
We can't change the thickness of the sheet-metal, because it's a model which comes from a supplier with a different cad-program. And supressing any features isn't possible, because it's a base-solid.
But where can we change it to the standard meshing methode? The program is recently re-installed on my computer, the settings haven't changed since it's been installed. We can't find the feature.
How do I change the BOM structure of iParts from Normal to Purchased? The BOM editor in the assemblies that use the iParts have the iParts as read only. I can't find a way to change them to purchased from inside the iPart either.

I'm trying to take multiple parts of the same type and make them into one .ipt I began doing this and It seemed to be working fine. When I put those grouped .ipts into an .iam, Inventor creates a Subfolder of each .ipt and fills it with each part from that group and now those created ipts are unique unlinked parts (unlinked to the group ipt). I'm trying to reduce our file count and link our .ipts and .idws/.dwgs so this Inventor file creator results in the opposite of what I'm looking for. My question now is is there any way to modify this process to work the way I need it to or is there a completely different way that I should be doing this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow can I get the iPart information in a partlist.
I have a tupe DN 25 iPart where I can control the length, and i'll like to have a text I description field in my partlist that says "DN 25, Length = <actual length>".
the newest model I have made I have run into some troubles. When I switch between one member and another most parameters update correctly but the part is still requiring an update before the finished part is created.
When the feature small sheds is enabled the pattern isn't working correctly. It seems as though the height that controls the sheds is not updating during the member change process and is causing the pattern to be the wrong length.
I have set up a form to add my parameters as there are a large number in the ipart table.I can't generate my member files as they show the member before it is updated and is wrong.
Is it possible to show surfaces in a drawing view of an ipart member - although the option of include all surfaces is there I can't get them to show. Similar issue with showing sketches - get model sketches is there but nothing can be shown.
