Is there any way to get the BOM to merge using something other than the Part Number. It seems as though it is the only option for merging the rows. I would like to use the stock number as the key.

In the I properties project tab I would like to change the "Stock Number" name to "A.R.M.-PN:". I need to reference 2 part numbers in my IPT I properties. This will then show up on the Parts List as a column which I can add. Or I would like to add a new dialog box to the "Project Tab". Is there a easy way to do this in 2011 Inventor Professional?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to come up with a way to automate the filling of the stock number field in the iproperties for different sheet metal rules. Currenlty I have linked the name of the rule to the description field using the =<Sheet Metal Rule>. So using that varible is out.
A quick solution was to make custom materials for all of the stock numbers and then link that to the sheet metal rule using the material box. This will work except I need to show material name on the parts list.
If only each sheet metal rule had its on iproperties, this would be so easy.
Can this be done with Ilogic?

I would really like to put some text in the part that links to the iproperties so I can emboss the stock number on the parts. It never fails that you create a new part, then forget to change the text. This would save a ton of time and re-plots.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I publish from Inventor to DWF (including sheets in the idw and an view of the iam assembly file) numerous part properties are included in the dwf that I would like to strip out so we don't share too much info with.
For example, filenames are included, stock numbers the complete bom from the model (as opposed to the parts lists that are shown in the idw's... This info shows in the structured bill, and if you click on a part in the iam.
How do I filter all this out so I only show part numbers and descriptions in iproperties?
I created a bom export rutine but when a virtual component is the same as a inserted standard part the rowmerge does not work.

I create a new assembly and place a component multiple times. When i open the Bill of Material i see one line with a QTY of 6 (the number of times the component was placed)
Now if i uncheck the "Enable Row Merge on Part Number Match" The BOM should show 6 lines with the same component and a QTY of 1 ....................correct?????? But it does not...........
I am using Corel Draw X3 to create name tags that have room numbers printed on them so people know where they need to go. I am importing an Excel spreadsheet for the data. When it does the print merge it is adding a decimal at the end of the room number. For example, instead of showing room 215, it outputs 215.0 instead. How can I keep this from happening? I've tried everything I can think of in Corel and Excel both.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am working in an Inventor Assembly .iam, I have about 250 fasteners (screws) that are constrained to a flat washer and lock washer. I would like to put them in as a single unit (sub assembly if you will) and then promote or explode them in the top level so that my bom has 250 screws, 250 washers, and 250 lock washers all at the same level, not associated to one another except thru the constraints that were entered in the original assembly. I have tried Promote but that doesn't work because it removes the washers from the original file and I end up with only 1 instance of the assembly. Am I approaching this incorrectly? Is there a better way? I run across this scenario with different components quite often.

I would like to merge all the DWF drawings of the sub assemblies and component parts into the DWF of the main assembly. Is there a method within DWFAddIn that will allow me to merge the files? Is there another way that I can merge the DWF files using the same ilogic rule (one rule to create and merge all DWF's together?)
I have 2 different parts that I created as separate ipt files. I then bring them into an assembly and place them how I want, but they have overlapping material. Is it possible to turn these 2 parts into one part? If yes, how?

I'm trying to fill out a sheet stock list in paperspace. What is the trick to get the new text object located in the proper place? When I run the attached code, the text always is located at 0,0,0. Is there an offset I need to apply?
In the stock ribbon, some of the panels fly out when you roll over them, some you have to click to get them to fly out. How do you set this? I have created some custom panels but they all require a click to fly out.

I have "Enable Row Merge on Part Number Match" cheched and even though their part numbers do match, the rows are not merged.

I went out with our GPS and shot each of our stock piles we have in our yard (recycle asphalt, 3/4" gravel, 1" gravel, etc.), and now I want to figure out how much of each pile we have
So what I did was create a seperate surface for each pile, then I created a volume surface for each as well and just set the base and compare surface as the existing, that wat was I can get the total sq ft of each pile, but now I want to figure out how much yards of material are in each pile
Would I need to set up a materials list for each on to calc how much are in each pile according to what type of material they are?
I've created a frame out of tubular steel using frame generator. When specifying sketch lines for the members, i indadvertently selected two adjacent, co linear members, instead of going from point to point.
i.e. frame members are A to B and B to C - what I am after is a frame member from A to C.
I want to merge the two, to have a continuous piece of steel, however i'm afraid that deleting them both and replacing will delete mates which i have in place to each of their faces.

I am creating a drawing that has some 40+ notes on it. Maybe half of these notes need to have a square, squircle, or some shape around them so I can later use that same shape enclosed number to point to a feature on the drawing that it is referencing. In the past when I had fewer notes I would just use the user symbols and losely place the squircle number in line with the other text and then use that same squircle number to point to the desired feature. The problem it is hard to align everything properly and if I move the text I then need to move the squircles.
In Pro/E I remember being able to type "@[1@]" and it would create a box around 1 in the text. Is there anything similar in Inventor?
In our company if we put a component in 5 different assemblies, we want that component to have the same item number no matter where it is in the parts list. In addition we group components to have a special item number... Meaning hardware like washer, bolts, and etc. to start with 500 series number.. Piping components would be 800 series...
Is there a way to do this in ILOGIC/VB?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Grading Plan that is getting increasingly unstable as time goes on... I used Grading creation tools to create 3:1 mounding for a stock pile that is on my site... there are a couple dozen mounds on the site for this stock pile...
My problem is when I go to edit any feature lines or Grading; the drawing just crashes and will not save my work... I ran an audit and it does not find anything... I need to get the grading done ASAP and this is a major hold up... Do I need to go back through and manual grade everything or is there a secret that I am missing?
I have read multiple forums on the matter with older version of Civil 3d... so this is to tell me that the problem has never been fixed with Autocad?
Why cant I save a cdr job with all the merge fields setup so that next time I open the file I can go straight to 'merge to new document'.
So Ive set up a 10 to view raffle tickets job. Inserted 20 numerical merge fields, positioned, resized, applied font size color alignment etc etc etc.. Takes ages..... So then merge to a new document, works nice and I can save it fine.
There are a hundred reasons why i may have to close the 'master' merge file before the job has been successfully printed. It may be a repeat print job.
Any which way I really dont get why the live merge data fields are lost on closing the file.
I want to use the AddBorder method to add a custom Border to a sheet. As I see in the end, the newly added border does not have the zone parameteres set - the result 0 horizontal zones/0 vertical zones.
If I use the add border functionality that Inventor provides, the zones are not null.
I tried to find a way to specify these parameteres, but I found that they can be specified only on DefaultBorder.
i would like to have a page number in idw automatically ad when i added a page it will indicate "page 2", is it possible?
at the moment , i manually type a text annotation for page # for each page.

When using multiple sheets within an IDW. Can the first sheet start out with a number other than 1, in otherwords start with sheet number 31, then every sheet after that be indexed by 1, ie 32, 33, 34 etc.
