View 5 RepliesHow do I make a style in the library standard? I made new styles in the library for a revision table and parts list, but when placing them in an IDW I always get the standard tables.
It's not a big deal to change it in the format tab after placement, but when having 50+ sheets/daily its getting annoying.
We are in the process of setting a naming convention for all the various parts we use, and having changed the Inventor library already, the Autocad stations (ver 2011 mechanical) are next. While I won't be the one doing this work, I want to get a jump on it as it's impeding my current work. The problem is, I don't even know where to start looking. We would be starting with the fastener library, changing the standard descriptions to suit our new convention.

Basically I'm trying to find a shortcut so that I don't have to build all of the catch basins that I need.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe rarely use 'custom' brushes, normally just using the standard ones that come with CS6 for photo-retouching.
We'd like to take a custom brush that is saved into another library, and copy it into the standard brush library, so we don't have to switch libraries to use that brush. Is there any way to accomplish this?
See the below text box, which I frequently use to retrieve lists of requested photos. This box does not comport to industry standards. When you click on it, the last whole word erroneously becomes highlighted --I expect the cursor to be positioned at the pointer so that I can add or insert text. Instead my first keystroke erases the last entry! Additionally, the undo/redo keys (ctrl Z/Y) are non-functional. Applies to at least the last few versions.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI created a frame using 150 x 75 BS4 channel section in 2011/12 (can't remember which) however it was created before the BOM length fix (all lengths stated are not necessarily the lengths of the beams). In order to fix this I need to redraw the frame, which is fair enough, however I am unable to find the BSI standard channel section. In fact, BSI has seemed to vanish from my library completely, I can not even place a component from the BSI library.
I have had a look around the C:/Programdata/autodesk/inventor2011(or 12 or 13)/contenetcentre/libraries and have found parker, gost, DIN etc but no BSI. I have not used the frame generator/place component in 2013 yet so no idea if this was from install or not.
i am looking for a resource for models for standard parts....in this particular case a micrometer or something that i can through in an assembly to give a sense of scale.

1. How to make the STYLE and Standard Editor "NOT" Read Only. As a user, I do have the Administrator permission.
2. I have created a Style but then I do not want it anymore. How? Can I delete it.
If I insert a part with my own work planes in an assembly, I can programatically get the first 3 standard workplanes and also the non standard workplanes.
BUT if I make the part a table based iPart, I cannot find the extra non standard workplanes in the WorkPlanes of the part component definition, just the first standard three (XY YZ XZ).
(I've tried this in C++ COM and in VBA).
I'm new to the style library and how to take an existing drawing that was created on one standard, and changing it to another standard I just created. The new standard has different dimension styles, text, and layers. I've added all the styles to my style library and I've set the new standard to the active standard in both the styles and standards editor and the document settings. If I create a new view, it comes in on the new standard, but the existing views are still on the old. How to I get the existing views on the new standard?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wish to show a standard top and right side view in my IDW. In my views I have a particular hole I don't (or hole set) that I do not want to show on this (or any at points) view. Is it possible to suppress a single or multiple features?
I have tried expanding the tree in the browser and clicking on the component (right and left) but there is no 'visibility' or 'suppress' avail. in the menu that comes up.
I have some assemblies with standard components inserted from Content Center which I have published.
After some changes I do on some of them within CC, I can't refresh those that are already placed in assemblies. The window that displays the components out-of-date won't appear. Only the message precedes the appearance of this windows is shown and that's it, nothing happens.
For new Assembly I don't have this problem.
when i start with the dynamic simulation i found out that there isnt any option of revolute or prismatic or anyother standard joints.. just hv spacial joints under that session... have did almost all the updates and no use.. still remains the same...

I'm working on some bottle concepts and I have a need to model standard plastic bottle threads. These threads are designated by a diameter in mm and how many threads are on the bottle. Example: 33-400 The 33 is the diameter and 400 refers to a single turn of the cap. Manufacturers like Aptar make bottle tops of various types to fit this spec. I happen to be looking at dispensing lids (think Heinz Ketchup bottle). While I've found specs for Major diameter, Minor diameter and TPI, I have found precious little that describes the thread shape itself. I've tried to reverse engineer a sample thread from... you guessed it.. a Heinz Ketchup bottle. I feel that my venier caliper and micrometer are not doing this effort justice.
Looking for DWG file or Inventor model of the thread profile?
I'm using the coil command to create the thread on the bottle neck. It works okay. An issue arises with the thread termination. The threads on the bottle itself "chamfer" into the bottle neck. While I don't think I can do this with the coil command itself, how to create the "lead-in" for the plastic thread.
I am unable to save any changes to my style & standards for Inventor lt suite 2014.
Is this meant to be as indicated by the wikihelp (Save styles to the library in the Style Library Manager), or have i got something installed wrong.
I couldn't found a way to change the materials of the standard parts in Inventor, so i made a (quick and dirty) VBA program so i can change the material and color of the publiced (and used in projects) parts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLong time Autocad user but now am moving most of my work across to Autodesk Inventor.
Some of the work I do is with companies that their parts are standard components that will not change.
So I am using Inventor to automate the drawings based on their requirements. For example if it needs to be 4m high. then to use 2 x 2m sections. Currently I have create different assemblies of the different potential heights that I can switch between using ilogic but I need to be able to shift the top truss arch depending on how high the truss is.
My new company is running Inventor Routed Systems 2009 and something is up with the standard Content Center. I just came from another company running 2011, and I am used to just being able to click "Place from Content Center" and having it just work. Not so here. When I click on that button, I get this prompt:
But, we have no server for this sort of thing. So, I tried to point Inventor to a network location where it can find a set of Content Center files.
I also made sure to point the project to that location as well.
Still, I get the same prompt. How do I make it go away get get access to the Content Center?
On a daily basis I work with two different types of drawings; machining and fabrication. The machine shop prefers dimensions in decimal inches, and the fab shop only understands fractional inches. Is there any way to set up the styles/standards/templates to allow me to pick out which type of drawing I am creating and have Inventor use the correct object defaults for the dimensions?
