I have surface percent slopes labels in my drawing. I want to change the current style precision to only one decimal not three and I don't want to see the negative in front of the slope value.

how I can keep the label dynamic to the surface, but put the V & H in the label after the values.?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have slope % angles labeled on a plan, but they are too large. They are 1/8" tall, and I need them to be 3/32" tall. I have checked the style (ROMANS) to be sure the text height is set to 0", and it is. I've also ensured that these labels are on this label style.
Check the screenshot. I added 2 screenshots with a huge difference in font size just to be sure my point gets across. And, I have hit APPLY and closed the window just to be sure. You will see up top, I have it set to 3/32". Actually the text isn't showing right, it is still stuck on 1/8". But, regardless, you can see in the lower screenshot where I have changed it to 3", but the text has not changed.
As a side note, the text on the slope labels should match the height of the contour labels you can see in the screenshots.
I am working on creating a surface style, legend and surface settings to create Slope Analysis Maps. These maps show a surface with different colors of hatches in triangles of the surface that are within the specified ranges. I have 3 ranges, 0-10%, 10-20% and 20-100%. I have been able to do everything but include the percentage of the area of the range over the total area of the surface. I thought maybe an expression, but doesn't look like you can have expressions for table styles. Attached is a pdf that shows my legend and a surface with the style.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a polyline defining a proposd wind farm access track and I have offset it 10m each side. I have then dreated a slope label between the southernmost end points which gives the existing ground slope at right angles to the centreline. I created the Array (as shown in arrayed.jpg) and it looked good but after hitting enter there were only three labels (after enter.jpg)
I did a rectangular array of slope labels with no problem at all so what's wrong with the way I'm doing the path??

Say you have a feature line in plan view and you project it to profile view. Is there a way to label the true slope of the projected feature line segments in profile?
The profile view depth labels are not accurate since it's simply calculating the length from station to station in profile.
...and of course this does not correspond to the true segment length since the feature line is not parallel to the alignment.
I notice issues using spanning pipe labels for the first time recently after having used them for years. The slope calculated by the spanning pipe label is completely wrong. I've attached a picture in which Labeled two pipes connected by a null structure. The two labels on the bottom are the pipes labeled individually at 3.53% and 3.34%. When labeling them as a spanning pipe, if I choose the downstream pipe first and them the upstream pipe it shows me a slope of 0.48%. If I choose the upstream pipe first, then it gives me 2.88%. Either way it's wrong.
As I was writing this I decided to check and see if the pipes were flowing the same direction (Start to End or End to Start). Turns out they weren't. After flipping one of the pipes around so that they both are laid out in the same direction (Start to End from Upstream to Downstream) the label now reads 3.37%, which is correct.
Seems like an the label should honor the flow direction of the pipe, no matter if they have been laid out in opposite directions or not.
in my link "link slope to surface", i have the slope set to -2.00%. in the cross sections, it is at a +2.00%. why is this thing not linking at the defined -2%? see image.
View 1 Replies View RelatedPlease find the attached picture. It shows a surface with its data points. I extended the surface to the outer boarder shown by kriging. The slope of the surface that was added with the extension (past the data points) has an upward slope that was generated. I need the surface to stay level with the data points that are there.
How to avoid that added slope when extending a surface?
I'm modeling a simple corridor (12' lane 2%, 6' shoulder 6%, 4:1 to match EG). I used the "LinkSlopeToSurface" subassembly for the 4:1 to match the EG. Unfortunately our EG isn't always wide enough for the 4:1 slope to match it somewhere.
Is there an assembly that would use 4:1 as a standard daylight slope, but where necessary adjust the slope, max. 3.5:1, to match EG surface?
I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D to do a slope analysis across project locations. When defining slope categories, I am finding that the max slope percentages are astronomically high; ranges are being returned up to 360,000%--and I've only done three regions! I understand vertical slope but these percentages are not realistic by any means, especially through the areas in which I am working.
A specific example: between a contour at elevation of 792 ft and a contour at elevation of 794 ft at a distance of approximately 60 feet, the slope percentage being returned is in the 9000% range. There is not a sudden drop or rapid change in elevation between these two contour intervals to provide reason for this high of a percentage. I would expect to have a slope percentage nearer the 3% range.
The data source of the contour information is LiDAR being brought into CAD via the task-based geospatial option using MapImport. All data tables are being kept. Polygons are being imported as closed polygons. There are no surface errors being reported upon creation. The project locations were created in another program and imported into CAD using the same manner. The only thing that I can conjure up is that there is some sort setting issue.
I change my surface style to slope banding (3 ranges) and make a legend table.All of the three ranges in the table are red and my surface ranges are blue, yellow, & red.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create grading slope from a Feature line that was created at a constant elevation of 609m. I want to create a slope of 3:1 from the feature line to a surface I created. I recall in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 that you could create a slope directly to a surface. Is there a way of doing that in 2014 or did I simply forget a step when I created my Grading Groups?
I created the grading group using the Grading Creation Tool Pallet and selecting Set Grading Group. Then I set my target surface to the one I want to grade towards. I thought all I had to do than was go to Create Grading select the direction of grading and the slope. I thought the slope would continue to the target surface but it asked for a distance for grade that would throw off any volumes I want to pull off.
Did I have to create a new surface for my Pad at 609m than grade from that and how would I make sure my slope continues till it contacting the surface I want to target?
Am I correct in assuming that if Surface Labels by One Point is chosen, the slope as shown is the maximum slope of the surface triangle where the point was chosen??

On my corridor I am using Link Slope to Surface, using a 3:1 slope. But it is giving me a 3:1 slope radial to the corridor - what I really need is a 3:1 slope between the contours themselves. On the inside of a tight curve, this makes a big difference. See the attached screenshot. Is there a workaround for this?

and now I am thinking I will have to do this manually, extract contours, and trim/extend my way to victory...I really would like to have this in a dynamic situation so I can make adjustments. Also, it would be adventageous to have the line actually follow the grade so I dont have to add curves in etc later...
Using Civil 3d 2012, I have a slope label with mult lines, and set to plan read.
When I rotate the label, the goes to plan read, but the bottom line text is on the top, top on the bottom.
I hope it would be simular to mirror.
I look at the expression, but didn't see any way to get the label angles.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble getting my assembly to work in my corridor. I have a Basic Lane Transition subassembly with a Link Slope to Surface subassembly attached to it. The assembly follows my centerline alignment and the lane widens as designed out to my offset alignments. The slope grading to daylight works fine until the transitional lane starts to widen, then the slope assembly stays at the same point on the lane and does not stay linked to the end of the lane.
I am also having trouble getting the subassemblies to attach to the proper points. I keep trying different OSnaps unitl one seems to work, but I am never sure the subassemblies are connected properly.
I am grading a parking lot and trying to highlight areas with less than 1% slope.
I can't find the spot to set user slope ranges in the setting tab.
I can find setting number of ranges with three options of minimal use.
This used to be so simple in LDD.
The examples I have seen for this function all show odd ranges of limited value.
I'm trying to suppress trailing zeros in a surface slope label in run:rise format. Basically, if it's a 2 to 1 slope, I want it to read 2:1 or if it's a 2.5 to 1 to read as 2.5:1.
I found this blog showing how to do it for line slopes, but I think it's not able to work using the run:rise format.

It labels the surface (PAD) then automatically subtracts a set distance for another elevation (GFE) and adds a set distance for another elevation (FFE). After doing some research, it looks like it was created with an expression?
I have two questions:
First, where to go to get a better understadning of this? I'm not familiar with expressions.
Second, where can I find the expression in drawing to make an edit to the set distances. I can remove the GFE/FFE as they are separate components in the label style, but I don't see where to modify the distance it adds or subtracts.
We work with Hydro graphic surveys that have large numbers of points. We would like to be able to display girded spot heights colored to represent the elevation. (Similar to elevation banding)
I have created a surface and then created surface elevation points on a grid with spacing of 15m. I have tried looking at setting up a style that will adjust the color depending on the elevation ie 0 to -1 = red but haven't made any progress.
Site layout has moved and rotated a little. Have spot elevation labels in my sheet but unable to use align command. Align command is able to be used but only moves labels rather than move and rotate.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I have an existing grade surface and I am laying out a number of different site designs. I've got all my surfaces from those site designs on different layers each displayed in a different layout. I need to label existing contours on each layout in different places. I've setup additional contour label styles (two for each design, major, and minor) and layers (two for each design, major, and minor). However, when I add labels to my existing surface, they come in on the right layer, but whenever I freeze any of the many layers my contour labels are on, they all turn off. The only workaround I can figure is to make copies of my existing surface for each design option and label each independantly. However, this is inacceptable as far as data management goes, since my one file will be hundreds of megs with all those surfaces.
