AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Table Showing Slope Grade
Nov 27, 2012I have a surface that I have done a slope analysis on and want to put a table showing the slope grades. I have made a viewport and would like to put the table in paperspace. However, when I zoom in paperspace and regen the table changes size. How or where do I keep the table from changing size. It wont let me scale it up or down.

There are assemblies and subassemblies with shapes defined for each slope grade, LinkMulti with no target, but how do I make the transition from one slope grade to another one?
In corridor properties I included two regions for each slope grade.
For grading there is a transition function. But the transition for corridors?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Surface From Grade
Jul 28, 2013I'm working on a grading plan which excavates down from just outside the waterline of an existing pond. When I create a surface from the grading, it looks like a whole bunch of strange break lines have been added, messing up the surface. I thought it might be the mid ordinate distance but changing that doesn't seem to fix it it. Interestingly, when I grade from the original waterline, this doesn't seem to happen.
Here is my workflow, a picture of the result is shown below.
1. Turned the current waterline into a feature line.
2. Created new feature line by offsetting outside that feature line by 3.16 ft.
3. From new feature line, grade down 10 feet at 3:1
4. Create new surface using grading.
The grading lines (shown in white) look correct. But when I create the surface (green and yellow), it is all messed up.

Jul 12, 2013I was wondering if there is a way that I can take an existing grade surface and apply a designed pond surface.
Right now I have the pond as a set of 3d Polylines in the proper geometry.
I want to place the pond into this surface and cut/fill at a 3:1 from that pond to the existing surface.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Grade To Surface At A Fixed Distance?
Aug 9, 2013When we created our fist C3D template in 2007 it was possible to make a grading criteria that targeted a surface at a fixed distance. In other words, the slope was variable. Looking at it again in 2013 it appears it's not possible to creat a criteria like that. Am I missing something? Or was that option removed? .....perhaps because it was too unstable?

Dec 12, 2013I am creating profiles and I can not get the existing grade linetype to show up as a uniformed dashed line. The layer is set up for a dashed line but the existing profile line is made up of too many nodes to make the linestyle look right.

Oct 1, 2013I'm building up my assembly and I want to add a daylight sub-assembly in order to grade my proposed surface to the existing surface. Typically I would have a 1:3 slope up or down. I have choosen the DaylightGeneral for this and although there is quite a few parameters to play with, I'm only interested in the up/down slope but when I put anything sleeper than 1:4 it doesn't work, I get this red line and circle.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Grading Tools - Creating Proposed Grade Surface?
Feb 21, 2013I'm trying to create a proposed grade surface using the grading tools. I drew the outline boundaryof the proposed surface as a closed polyline then created a feature line from it and assigned different elevations to it. When I try to select the feature line in order to create the grading, I get "THIS FEATURE OVERLAPS ITSELF AND CANNOT BE GRADED". What could be a possible reason for this?

Apr 5, 2013Please find the attached picture. It shows a surface with its data points. I extended the surface to the outer boarder shown by kriging. The slope of the surface that was added with the extension (past the data points) has an upward slope that was generated. I need the surface to stay level with the data points that are there.
How to avoid that added slope when extending a surface?

Apr 18, 2012I'm modeling a simple corridor (12' lane 2%, 6' shoulder 6%, 4:1 to match EG). I used the "LinkSlopeToSurface" subassembly for the 4:1 to match the EG. Unfortunately our EG isn't always wide enough for the 4:1 slope to match it somewhere.
Is there an assembly that would use 4:1 as a standard daylight slope, but where necessary adjust the slope, max. 3.5:1, to match EG surface?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Slope Surface Percentages
Aug 16, 2013I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D to do a slope analysis across project locations. When defining slope categories, I am finding that the max slope percentages are astronomically high; ranges are being returned up to 360,000%--and I've only done three regions! I understand vertical slope but these percentages are not realistic by any means, especially through the areas in which I am working.
A specific example: between a contour at elevation of 792 ft and a contour at elevation of 794 ft at a distance of approximately 60 feet, the slope percentage being returned is in the 9000% range. There is not a sudden drop or rapid change in elevation between these two contour intervals to provide reason for this high of a percentage. I would expect to have a slope percentage nearer the 3% range.
The data source of the contour information is LiDAR being brought into CAD via the task-based geospatial option using MapImport. All data tables are being kept. Polygons are being imported as closed polygons. There are no surface errors being reported upon creation. The project locations were created in another program and imported into CAD using the same manner. The only thing that I can conjure up is that there is some sort setting issue.

Dec 30, 2013I am trying to create grading slope from a Feature line that was created at a constant elevation of 609m. I want to create a slope of 3:1 from the feature line to a surface I created. I recall in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 that you could create a slope directly to a surface. Is there a way of doing that in 2014 or did I simply forget a step when I created my Grading Groups?
I created the grading group using the Grading Creation Tool Pallet and selecting Set Grading Group. Then I set my target surface to the one I want to grade towards. I thought all I had to do than was go to Create Grading select the direction of grading and the slope. I thought the slope would continue to the target surface but it asked for a distance for grade that would throw off any volumes I want to pull off.
Did I have to create a new surface for my Pad at 609m than grade from that and how would I make sure my slope continues till it contacting the surface I want to target?

But it is giving me a 3:1 slope radial to the corridor - what I really need is a 3:1 slope between the contours themselves. On the inside of a tight curve, this makes a big difference. See the attached screenshot. Is there a workaround for this?

Jan 22, 2012Using Civil 3d 2012, I have a slope label with mult lines, and set to plan read.
When I rotate the label, the goes to plan read, but the bottom line text is on the top, top on the bottom.
I hope it would be simular to mirror.
I look at the expression, but didn't see any way to get the label angles.

Aug 4, 2012I am having trouble getting my assembly to work in my corridor. I have a Basic Lane Transition subassembly with a Link Slope to Surface subassembly attached to it. The assembly follows my centerline alignment and the lane widens as designed out to my offset alignments. The slope grading to daylight works fine until the transitional lane starts to widen, then the slope assembly stays at the same point on the lane and does not stay linked to the end of the lane.
I am also having trouble getting the subassemblies to attach to the proper points. I keep trying different OSnaps unitl one seems to work, but I am never sure the subassemblies are connected properly.

May 26, 2012I am grading a parking lot and trying to highlight areas with less than 1% slope.
I can't find the spot to set user slope ranges in the setting tab.
I can find setting number of ranges with three options of minimal use.
This used to be so simple in LDD.
The examples I have seen for this function all show odd ranges of limited value.

Sep 24, 2013I'm trying to suppress trailing zeros in a surface slope label in run:rise format. Basically, if it's a 2 to 1 slope, I want it to read 2:1 or if it's a 2.5 to 1 to read as 2.5:1.
I found this blog showing how to do it for line slopes, but I think it's not able to work using the run:rise format.

Nov 29, 2012I have a fairly simple corridor, however, I had to modify the alignment, rebuild the corridor and resample cross-sections. Now my right daylight slope won't show up. It shows up in the section viewer, but not the cross-section. I had this problem once before and fixed it, but now I can't remember how I did...I have all targets, sections sampled match corridor sampling etc.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Cut And Fill Slope Lines Won't Show Up In Cross-sections?
May 1, 2012I have created a road for a pit mine (which is unlike roads I have designed in the past). The road switched back towards itself and I need to daylight the cut slopes to show the limits of the mine/road cut. However, my cut/fill lines are not showing up in my cross-sections, but the plan view is showing the limits of excavation.
I assume this is because my limits are intersecting, from each of the roads, the upper and the lower. How can I get around this, or why are my cross-section lines not showing?
