We have recently upgrading from 2012 to 2014. Several of our jobs are not reading the surface when we open the drawing. We have to force the sync of the surface and then the grades display.

Any way to raise/lower a surface, but is there a way to offset a surface basically 1m (to make it easy) perpendicular to all grades? Because when you raise/lower a surface, if you have a 3:1 slope, it will raise/lower it vertical 1m or so, but then the perpendicular distance between the 2 surfaces is less then 1m.

I have modelled my surface and have added 'elevations' to my model. When I attempt to add the legend all I get is the top headers; it is not populating the data rows.
I xrefed my surface to my sheet file and everything except the contours show, I evan tried a data shortcut to no avail. I checked vp layers and thawed /on all layers but no contours..

I can run the volumes and create a comparison surface. Now what I need is to display the combined surface in such a way that you can easily see, this is the area where 0 - 0.5 feet was removed, this this the area where 0.5 -1.0 feet was removed, and so on and so forth.

I went to Prospector => Surface => Surface1 => Definition and I did not see any place for editing Elevation - see the left-hand-side of the 1st attached file.
How to make the Elevation and my stuff in Description show up in the DWG.
I am having an issue with my label displaying in my profile after I create my plan and profile sheet set. The PVC, PVI and PVT all show up, but the labels are not displaying. I looked through the layers and they are all thawed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedToday I created a TIN Volume Surface. The volume surface seems to have a "resolution" issue if you will when displaying using elevation banding. In the attached screenshot note how the edges of the surface are "squared" or pixelated. Also, the blue lines are "hide" boundaries, and they have the same effect. I've created volume surfaces before with no issues until now.
The volume surface compares 2 surfaces that were created from nothing but contours. Some of the contours can be seen in the attached image.
I've tried REDRAW and REGEN, the image looks the same in model space and paper space, I've tried closing AutoCAD and reopening the file. I deleted the volume surface and then created a new one... I'm sure there's just a setting somewhere that I'm missing.
For comparison, also attached is a screenshot a "normal" volume surface that I created before. This one has no "hide" boundaries, but the edges of the surface aren't "squared."
Rubber sheeting a pdf with 2014? It now asks you yo select an image. Since a pdf is not an image not sure how to accomplish this. WHY DID THEY CHANGE THIS?

I need a corridor that transitions from 2% sideslope to 0% sideslope. This transition occurs in a horizontal AND vertical curve. I understand I could use EOP alignments, profiles, etc to achieve this. I dont have the time or civil3D knowledge to figure this out on a friday afternoon...
So... my plan is to not apply the transition, and just hide the contours in the transition area and sketch them in by hand. I want to corridor surface to remain so that when other profiles are created from this surface it is still somewhat accurate (instead of removing this portion of corridor surface, and adding simple contours to the surface). I just want the surface hidden for +/- 50'.
Everything I have tried hides the surface everywhere, including new profiles from the surface.
I'm having a random issue with the daylight ties lopes not tieing to the EG surface at all stations in the Corridor Section Editor. Some stations daylight fine. In plan view the daylight lines vary left & right as expected but don't display at all in Section Editor.

I'm having an issue with my cad files that were done with Civil 3D 2012. When we made the jump to Civil 3D 2014 all my drawings seem to be corrupt. Now I have pipe networks in my base file. I have tired recovering and recoverall but no luck. I can send the CAD file.

I am running the new auto cad civil 3d 2014, downloaded from the design suite premium. I have left all of the programs installed (as a I saw that a few people chose to uninstall several of the programs). I am running auto cad on an @xi workstation, 4.1ghz processor, 16gb corsair vengence heatspred ram, 240gb ssd operating drive, 2tb storage raid 0 configuration storage drives, NVIDIA K2000 graphics card. It took me a while to configure the graphics settings within auto cad due to the high resolution, text is being portayed as small in some cases, commands are huge in others.
I am still adjusting all of those, however my real problem is that when I open certain drawings the program immediatly goes to not responding, and when I am working back and forth and trying to open multiple drawings it does the same. Just opening the program off of my desktop on a cold-start up takes maybe 15 seconds to be fully functional, the same with certain drawings. However others just seem to not want to be opened. This occurs with drawings large and small. Some large drawings open perfectly while some small ones crash, and vice versa. What could be the cause of this?
The project I am working on requires shoulders sloperd at -1.5% to -3.0%. Is it possible to set up an assembly and corridor to cut anything above -1.5% and fill anything below -3.0%?
If I can show both the cut and fill in the same drawing, that would be ideal.

I have a project with a sheet set (both created in C3D 2012) that was working fine up until a couple of days ago. Now, when I open the sheet set, there is nothing there. And any sheet set I open is blank.

I just changed my startup setting from 0 to 2 because I do not ever need a blank "Drawing 1" to work off of. Now I am wondering if that screwed something up because when I boot up AutoCAD and immediately try to open a Sheet Set, I receive the attached messages and then AutoCAD crashes. Is this a bug that needs to be fixed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with moving my profile grades. I go to Utilities under Corridors and create a profile for the left and right curb. They show up in my Alignment Profile, but when I click on one to move it, it disappears. When I type regen, it shows back up. I am trying to set my crossection grades in my Multiple Section Views. I first create my Profile from Surface, then do a proposed centerline grade by Draw tangents with curves. I create the corridor, put in the regions, go to corridor properties and pick the right and left corridor lines I have created. Then I set the existing surface and attach it to my profile. I create the sample lines and the Multi Section Views. Where am I screwing up?

I am having a problem opening older sheet sets from AutoCAD 2014.
I can select the .dst file, but when it "opens" I onlly have the icon in the seet set manager and nothing else, it is entirely blank.
I made a new sheet set, but now older versions of AutoCAD cannot read that one.
I am trying to get the existing and proposed grade from my surfaces to show up in the center bottom of my cross sections. I am working with the CL elevations band style and trying to set up so that major and minor increments are the surface elevations. Am I going about this wrong? I went in to the compose label tab and selected for the text to be section 1 elevation and section 2 elevation. When I am at the section view properties box / bands tab, all that shows up is my existing surface. I have created sample lines and a corridor. I have also created a surface from the corridor.

I have checked the view and the text and dimensions are on layers that should display in the sheet. The layers are on and thawed in the viewport on the sheet, but do not show up. View 1 Replies View RelatedAutocad LT 2014 works fine when one dwg is open, but after opening a second dwg autocad becomes 'selectively sluggish'. By 'sluggish' I mean panning and zooming are choppy, and switching between paperspace layouts is painfully slow. By 'selective' I mean that the program is slow only when working on the second drawing; I can toggle over to the first dwg that was opened and normal functionality resumes. These are not big files, there are not underlays or xrefs or crazy hatches/dynamic blocks/etc. It happens when working locally or off of the file server.
The only way I can have two drawings open and work normally is to open two instances of Autocad LT 2014 and have a drawing open in each -- then, I can switch back and forth as usual, with normal speeds.
I have this sketch created which I want to revolve it and further convert it to Metal Sheet for further unfold and obtain a flattened state in my final result. how this can be done (revolved parts) ?

The idw contains its own template, views, dimensions, details and cuts.
Upon opening in 2014 to release details of the scale is changed randomly and the views are out of the leaf.
we've just migrated to the 2014 release of the inventor suite and use vault basic. With the 2014 version of inventor the program immediately crashes when attempting to open an autocad dwg. Inventor dwg files open fine. We never experienced this issue in our previous release. We only use the dwg format and because the preview is not always available it often happens that we open an autocad dwg in inventor and vice versa. Crash is reproduced on multiple maches.
