AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Superimpose Profile Crossings
Aug 1, 2013I have a road centerline alignment/profile. And I have a proposed storm line that can runs along either side of the road. I showing the storm line in the road profile view and am superimosing the stormline surface profile onto the main road profile view.
I also need to show (superimpose) utilities that cross the storm line onto the road profile view, I do not see that civil 3d can do this. The closest thing i have thought to do is place a block at elevation at the crossing utility crossing and then project the block onto the road profile view. (I don't see how a pipe would work for a existing utility because if it does not cross the road alignment it can not be shown at all.)
This is not the best solution because if the proposed storm line moves all the utility crossings (blocks) will need to be moved and have the elevation updated.
Is there a dynamic way to show the utility crossings?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor Feature Line
Jan 7, 2014I am building a corridor with the right side of the pavement fitting to the existing surface.The subassembly used to link the edge of pavement to the existing ground is LinkSlopeToSurface.
On the corridor created, the feature line (code P2) of the corridor surface (top) starts from the station 0+025, instead of 0+000.
I was wondering why there is no feature line P2 for station range 0+000 to 0+025? Does that mean the linkage to the existing ground surface not exist for the slope defined in the subassembly?

I've now found a link in the docs for converting tessellated lines to arcs. Can I use this command with a dynamically linked FL? And will it maintain the dynamic link? [URL] ....

Jun 14, 2010I am using the Mill&Overlay sub set to overlay an semetrical road and a crown offset of zero. I one file the crown point feature line has gaps in it and in another file it zig zags along the road.
I forgot to mention that the triangles and the cross section look as expected. trouble is I want the crown profile

Apr 17, 2012I have a road corridor with feature lines connecting the road edges (cyan), ditchline (dark green), daylight_cut (yellow), daylight_fill (green) and daylight (white). At certain random locations along this corridor I am getting feature lines which span from one station to another, ignoring all of the corridor sections in between. The image below shows a daylight_fill line spanning over 60m, even though there is a daylight line through this region.
In this area a ditch line and a daylight_cut start at 4+110, skip over the next cut section at 4+120 and jump over a hundred meters to the next piece of ditch at 4+280..This corridor builds clean - no error messages reported.

Sep 10, 2012Is this the only way to extract feature lines from a corridor i.e. selecting each one - it gets a bit tedious.
Is there any method to select a corridor and extract all the feature lines that are set to display?? I think third party software (Sincpac?) can do this but this is not an option for me and I am not well versed enough in .NET to write something to achieve this myself.

Jun 1, 2012I created an assembly using BasicLaneTransition. When I apply it to my corridor I am not getting a feature line at the crown (center) of the road. I have used this subassembly on several other projects and have not had this issue. The only difference I can think of is that the other projects we started in C3D 2009 and this one is in 2012.
How do I get my feature line to show without adding a marked point?

Nov 3, 2011I have created Road 1 and assigned Feature Line Styles in the Feature Lines tab of the Corridor Properties and it looks as I expected.
When I go to Road 2, 3 etc I have to manually assign the Feature Line Styles again, so the question is can these feature line styles be assigned via a code set or something.

Sep 21, 2012I cant seem to target a corridor FL and keep it linked to the corridor. Is this the expected behavior? I would think you should be able to, no? For that matter I would think you should be able to pick the cooridor link directly, no?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor Code Set - Feature Line Selection
Nov 27, 2012Is there a way to be able to choose a desired feature line when extracting from a corridor? For example, when subgrade and finished grade are on top of each other, it seems subgrade is always coming as default for extraction. I'm not getting the option to select the desired point code as usual for some reason. The best way I found is by turning off the subgrade feature line from the corridor properties, which is a bit tedious.

Feb 22, 2013I have grading style set up to create a cut/fill boundary and the same thing for my corridor. I made surfaces from my grading and corridor and no longer need them. I need to keep the cut/fill lines for my design. How can I extract these lines from these objects? I tried keeping the grading/corridor on one layer and lines I wish to use on another so I can turn pieces of the grading off. However, it will not print the cut/fill boundary without printing all the feature lines created from a grading.

Oct 9, 2013For an intersection, I am trying to create an alignment and profile from the Lane (edge of traveled way) of my main road for the intersection lanes to tie to. I just did this yesterday on this same corridor without any issue, but today it doesn't create the alignment correctly. It doesn't actually follow the feature line that I select. The alignment is in orange and the green line is the lane line. Notice that the alignment isn't following the lane line.
What would cause this? It worked fine doing the exact same thing yesterday, but today it's not.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Super Elevation Corridor With ETW Design Profile
Aug 15, 2012I've got a highway project for which I'm modeling the corridor but the design profiles given to me are for the right lane top edge (ETW) and not the centerline (crown). This is an undivided planer roadway with a typical 2% cross-slope. How can I use that profile for the right edge to run my corridor? I can't seem to get the corridor to use the super table that is attached to the centerline when I use an offset assembly. Is an offset assembly the right way to go with this design?
What I've done just to get going is to take that right edge design profile and draw it in my centerline profile view, then lower it 0.24' (which is my 2% normal cross-slope for a 12' lane) and then use that as a centerline profile and let my normal super assembly and table data control the corridor through the supers. So far that is working--but is there a better way to do this?

Aug 9, 2012I created a road centerline profile and corridor and then created a profile of the two curb lines from the corridor. The road profile that I made has a vertical curve in it but the curb profiles do not show that information, just grade breaks every 25 feet based on the corridor sampling distance.
I would like to have the vertical curve information on the curb profiles.

I can target the existing the existing groundprofile with the same offset alignment, but the layout profile when targetted does not change the lane in my cross sections.
