AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Multitext Rotates When Editing?
Dec 19, 2012
I'm having a problem when I try to edit a piece of multitext. This does not happen all the time, but more often than not. When I go to edit the text it will rotate so that is parallel to true east. This is annoying as most of the time my drawings are not made with north being north. In this particular drawing north is pointing south east so whenever I edit a piece of text the text edit box will flip upside down and backwards as true east is south west. It always goes back to the way I had it originally before editing, but it's a pain to type stuff that's coming in upside down and diagonally.
I though the MTEXTFIXED option would solve this but I set it to both 0 and 1 (default being 2) and it did not stop the text from rotating when being edited.
What do I do to keep my text the way it's situated when editing?
Whenever I enter the MTEXT editing function, then type a letter on any given line of text, that line rotates to the world UCS. This makes typing almost impossible, as the overlapping text can't be read clearly.
I'm using AutoCAD 2013 for Mac and looking at my drawing with a rotated UCS.
I have an issue with headwalls rotating. When I rotate the headwall structure to 90 degrees from the pipe, the structure rotates back automatically. Is there a way to lock the position of the structure?
i failed to find one which would change string of a text to other for all types of objects. I mean it was usually either only multitext, or only text, dimensions or attributes.creating one which would change in abt 200 drawings:
-001
-002
-003
to:
-00001
-00002
-00003
in attributes, text, multittext, leaders, multileaders, dimensions..... at the same moment?
It is meant to be used in ScriptPro (by loading lisp in script).
If not possible, then can also open each file and run the lisp in each of them - still would save lot of time.
When ever I start a new sketch in the xz plane (viewing from top down) my sketch rotates 180 degrees. Not a huge deal to rotate it back, but not everything I create is symetrical and when I go to draw the part, I want a certain ISO view to be default. I know you can insert/obtain any view into the drawing but is there an option to stop this rotation or maybe I am not setting up something correctly.
I just loaded AutoCAD 2012 on Friday and have noticed that when I use annotative text or mtext in paper space when printing or previewing the text it rotates 90 degrees to vertical, but is horizontal in the drawing. Only does this with annotative text or mtext, non annotative text and mtext remains horizontal when previewing or printing.
When I open any image, photoshop rotates the image 90 clockwise by itself. All the other programs (even windows imageview) dont do that. Only photoshop does that. I can open the photo in any other application and they are fine, but when I open them in Photoshop CS5, they get rotated.
Sometimes when I am working on a image that I have selected and inverted a compass suddenly appears and rotates the image for me. This can happen to every image or not at all, which makes me think it might be a bug within the software. When it does happen it can be very frustrating as I am usually working on a large number of images and it reduces the amount of images that I can work on.
If I upgrade to CS6 the issue will be resolved? I am using a MacBook Pro 17ins 10.5.8 and it is Mac OSX.
When I try to rotate an image with only one layer, the image rotates but the "window" which contains it does not! I end up with the image rotated 90 degrees, but it's cropped because the window it's in, did not move. That window sticks out with a checkerboard pattern. I've looked in the GIMP manual and gone to YouTube for an explanation on how to use the rotate tool but I couldn't understand the tutorials. how to use the rotate tool successfully? I'm a severe dyslexic with low vision so usually, standard tutorials don't work for me.
When I need to rotate an image a few degrees a grid is displayed over the image, as a guide. However, the grid also rotates, making it a somewhat useless feature.
We need to move a survey point. I know the point can be unlocked in the drawing and moved, but how can the survey database be updated? After the point is moved the database does not update even after closing and reopening the dwg and database.
I have a point in my surface that has a bad elevation. My question is this, I unlocked the points and edited the point containing the bad elevation and I am wondering why my surface is not automatically updating. I have a breakline in the surface that uses the "bad" point and by editing the point to the correct elevation, I was assuming that my surface would automatically update, which did not happen, so I selected the breakline and edited that also to the correct elev., and the surface still did not update until I chose "rebuild surface" even though I had "rebuild surface automatically" turned on, so I am a bit confused.
I have a set of styles created in 2010, the company I currently work for needs to have new styles added and I would like to use some of the styles I created to make my life a bit simpler in this process. I have created an Overall.dwt file using the current styles the company i work for has and I have imported my styles into this dwt. As im renaming these styles for my new company I noticed under the general tab for text style and block style I have text and block styles with my old companies name but i cant seem to find where the blocks or text style is being pulled from so i can edit it with a new name. So my question is where are these styles being saved so i can edit them
A way to edit the stock Sub Assemblies provided by Autodesk?? I noticed they are compiled into a dll, therefore there is not a way to open them as a pkt that I am aware of. My intention is not to get rid of what Autodesk has provided but to add on to them.
Many times I have been asked "This sub assembly is great but can it do this?" of course it is the one thing that particular sub assembly can't do. For instance, the Varying Width sub assembly can't extend the top layer while having the sub base layers go in a negative direction.
Any real good setting to edit surface in 3D. I typically just set it to shaded, and i find that i have difficulty making out details. I like to have Tins and points displayed and occasionally turn on contours. Also I hold shift and the mouse wheel to rotate the views.
Any settings they feel make it easy to tell what is going on? Or a good way to 3d rotate without having to constantly use zoom extents to find the surface?
First prize for me would be to be able to access Parcel boundary vertices via managed dot net.
I could not find the boundary property of the Parcel object.
It looks like developers can access Parcel vertices via COM, in the Loops property of Parcels.
So, it is possible to combine the two to get what I need.
Then I turned to the Report facility. The METESBOUND XSL iterates Parcel segments but provides the distance and bearing instead of the vertices. I was hoping to get to the bottom of the linked code to edit it and produce the vertices output. But - I failed again. Cannot see how the XSL files get to the data needed.
Is there maybe a book or comprehensive reference on the XSL files that provide the reporting function?
I am a standard AutoCAD 2012 user. I am trying to edit drawings created in Civil 3D 2012. Is it possible to edit attribute information? I installed Civil Object Enabler so now I can view the information but can't seem to edit it.
I am using one assembly for this project and of course the existing surface does not always work well with one assembly so I have been using the corridor section editor to adjust each station individually. Attached is a picture of my first station, I started with a 3:1 fore slope (left side) and have changed it to a 2:1 slope. However, my ditch line elevation did not adjust and my parameter editor will not let me adjust the beginning elevation for the ditch line. I am curious as to what the simple solution is for this so my ditchline and back slope or slope to surface will be portrayed correctly.
I have a project that I need to get GIS data converted to CAD so I can edit in CAD. I am not looking to convert it back to GIS. I've tried the Export to CAD but all I get is line work. The GIS data is for water, sewer & drainage. I need to get the manholes, valves, etc. Not being familiar with the GIS software (ArcGIS) Maybe part of the problem is not using a seed file in the conversion.
I have a pumped storage project where I would like to know the water level if a volume of water is removed. Is there an easier way to do this? Currently I have my drawing set up with my base surface and various top water level surfaces. I have been creating volume surfaces for each TWL and populating a spreadhseet that indicates how volume and surface area differs with TWL. It would be incredibly handy to work this in reverse ie ask the volume surface to lose or gain a required volume of water and update the TWL accordingly.
I am working in a drawing that had all archetectual scales. I Need to insert scales like 1"=30' and so on. Usually when i go to this menu i can simply add them, but in this drawing they arent there. I started this drawing using the relitivly blank template ACAD.dwt because i am trying to build a company template and did not want any trash.
How does autocad chooses wich scales to show. In drawing setting it is set to US Survey foot.
The link talks about the issue, but i really do not understand the results. [URL] ......

I'm using Civil 3d 2013. When i go to edit my text, it rotates, making it impossible to read or edit. How can I stop it from rotating. I am editing the text through a rotated (DVIEW) viewport. When I try to switch to mtexted ---> oldeditor, I get the message
"The text contains new formatting and cannot be edited by your current MText editor."

After editing an alignment in my drawing the stationing did not update to the new edited alignment. I tried selecting the alignment and in alignment properties changing the end stationing, but I get the error "Either outside alignment limits or within gap created by a station equation". The stationing stops at my first edit point 66+24 when the total length of edited alignment is 103+15. Is there a way to re-station alignment.
MY AI is freezing, not allowing me to move or adjust, rotates without command. Just not listening . Sometime it will move other times cursor not responding.
My company has a template setup with an elevation callout for curb and gutter. The callout displays a box around two elevations (TC and G). The TC and G Labels after the elevations only show up in paper space on a 1"=1' scale, which is how the referenced block was set up. I need the labels to show up in 1:20 and/or 1:40 scale in paper space but only the elevations appear. I edited and saved the referenced block but the changes don't appear to have taken to the template.
On my drawings when I want to edit a label, I click the label, the ribbon changes and gives me options for that label, I click "edit label group" then a dialog box for that label style pops up and gives me more options.
Same drawings on another employees workspace, after clicking the label the ribbon changes, "edit label group" is selected from the ribbon, the command line then asks to pick a label you would like to edit even though you already selected a label.
What is the issue here? Does a system variable need to be set to "1" instead of "0" somewhere?
