AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Sidewalk Not Following Target Width Alignment?
Mar 26, 2012I have a variable sidewalk width and would like my corridor to follow sidewalk as defined by Target Alignment for Sidewalk width (polyline). My sidewalk is merging at ends with roadway however my corridor feature lines presenting sidewalk is not following/merging with target. In all other locations, it follows the target width however where sidewalk merges with road, feature line goes straight.
Attached PDF should hopefully explain what I want to say. Could not attached dwg due to size issue.
I am using Basic Curb and Urban sidewalk assembly wherein my Blvd targets are set to 0 (none).
How can I make my corridor follow sidewalk width target exactly.
I am using C3D 2010 , Win 7 Pro.

May 15, 2012if i want to target the existing surface beyond the edges of my road/sidewalk, should i use the link slope to surface subassembly at both ends? i want the model to test if in a cut or fill situation, and then target.

Apr 18, 2012Im using civil 3d UKIE 64bit, having a serious problem with adding a lane widening to an offset alignment. It is a straight alignment approx 200m length, but when i enter the parameters that is asked, at the end it says no solution!

Jul 19, 2012For some reason I cant seem to target an offset alignment layout profile with my corridor lane assembly. I can target the existing the existing groundprofile with the same offset alignment, but the layout profile when targetted does not change the lane in my cross sections. I can do this with civil 3d 2010, but not 2012. I have tried other lane sub-assemblies and it doesn't make a difference.

Sep 4, 2013I am using OffsetTaget.isValid in my subassembly.But i realize that when i put this formula it checks the whole drawing for that target and if the target polyline exist even a piece of polyline in the drawing then C3D considers it for all sample lines.Is ıt possible to be able to check each single sample line if it is going to intersect that target polyline or not?

May 25, 2011We have just started using Civil 3D. I need to be able to create an assembly that will place a sidewalk at varying offsets (it is too random to make seperate assemblies). I have tried making an alignment of the back of the walk and attempted to use targets in the corridor to achieve this .
I will attempt to attach the DWG that I am working on. The Main alignment is PR-1 as is the corridor and the alignment that i need the back of the walk to follow is PR-1 BWR.

May 14, 2012I am trying to create a station-offset label style that will drop the trailing zeros in the offset section - e.g. 15' instead of 15.00', but if the offset is not at a whole number, e.g. 15.01, etc. it will display the entire offset.
I created two expressions: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
and this one: IF(OFFSET-TRUNC(OFFSET)!=0,.1/12,.00000001/12)
I then created two offset components, one called truncated, and one called full, and assigned the heights to match the expressions.
I have attached the file, the style is ACHD-Sta Off-Rt [copy]

I can do an offset from Baseline, or a tie to an elevation in a profile. What I can't do is make the offset 21' from the tie location over an additional 21' to another tie point on a surface.

Dec 19, 2012This is with Civil 3D 2013. I am able to create a pline by offsetting an alignment using any drawing on any other workstation in our office, but on my machine I get an error: "1 object(s) were filtered out." when I try to select the alignment.
This leads me to searching for some system variable or something that is different on my machine.

I have created alignment offsets to obtain the existing surface at the offset location. I would like the edge profiles to have a vertical offset from the center profile. Also if I modify the center profile I want it to dynamically adjust the edge profiles.

Jun 18, 2013C3D2012..I have an assembly with left and right curb subassemblies, they are spaced about 1 m apart. I want to connect the BOC's with a constant slope median. I bring in the median and connect it to the Left BOC and it attaches, but shoots the median for 20 m across the assembly to the right. I tried to put a marked point on the right BOC prior to bringing in the median assembly, but the same thing happens. I changed the marked point name to RTC (Right Top Curb) and also changed the name to match in the median subassembly, with the same results.
Any proper way to insert the median and get it to connect properly.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Model Two Parallel Roads With A Median In Between
Aug 23, 2012i have a question for the gurus. how do i accomplish modeling two parallel roads with a median in between? in other words, say a northbound (NB) and a parallel southbound (SB) roadway, with a grass median in between them. the both roads have crown, and then eventually slope down towards the median, and at one point they meet.
I am curious to know if say for NB and SB, i have an assembly with the lanes, then shoulder, and then median area past the shoulder at x%, what subassembly should i use to accurately model the point where the NB and SB x%s meet?

I am not sure if i would be able to do it with only one baseline, as the roads may not always be parallel.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Entire Median Crossing The Center Line
Jun 16, 2012I have problem with medians ( Both MedianRaisedWithCrown and MedianRaisedConstantSlope) when crossing center line ( i.e whole median has to cross the center line).
I have median that goes along the centerline and it has to move to left completely ( whole median is on left side of the centerline) to cater for left turn. I tried with MedianRaisedWithCrown and MedianRaisedConstantSlope but it did not workout for me.
I used alignment ( for cl ) and offset alignments for median edge and etw. I have problem when the median edge ( offset alignment ) cross the center line and continues. I can see etw and median feature line shifts.

Apr 10, 2008I will be starting to design a 4 lane - 5 lane highway divided by a median. The median will be offset from the cl, stop for the intersection, then continue on the other side of the cl once past the intersection.
I will start digging into the median sub assemblies to try to figure this out.
I remember the old LLD/Civil manuals used to have a description on how to do this. I have 2008 sp2, but only the 2007 manual printed out.

So my typical for the final is 9.25 inch of pavement over 14" of stone and the interim is 4" over the same 14" of stone when we transition from the 4" to the 9.25" we are using a 20:1 taper the question is how to model this taper condition and have you had any success.

Oct 23, 2013In my corridor I have used superelevation. In a horizontal curve which has a cross slope of 4.5%, I have an intersection. To allow for a smoother ride through a few lanes in the intersection I want to change the cross slope from 4.5% to 1%. I was planning on doing this by using a Outside Lane Elevation Method of a Profile. However, it appears that my super has precedence over my profile. Is there are way to make this work?

Apr 3, 2013 I'm attempting to use the Superelevation tool on an interchange. I have 4, 1-lane ramps that I need to apply superelevation to. The three issues I have (so far) are:
In the Calculate Superelvation Wizard...
1. In Roadway Type, I don't know what to choose, I'm leading toward Undivided Crowned (center Baseline ) because my assembly (as of right now) is set up as an undivided crowned roadway (with the crown on the west travel lane edge). Which Roadway Type I should choose (for a 1-lane Ramp with different shoulder widths?)
2. Moving on to the the Lanes category doesn't matters. I uncheck symmetric Roadway, hoping I can choose "0" for the number of lanes on the Left, or at least put the lane width down to "0" but can't do either. I uncheck the Symmetric Roadway and it still makes everything symmetric (it acts as though it is still checked?) I only want to show a single 15' lane. (I even tried to use undivided planar, and put both lanes at 7.5'each, but then I still have shoulder issues...)
3. Move to the Shoulder Control. Why doesn't it give me the option to do different shoulder widths? On ramps it is very common (at least in Wisconsin) to have an 8ft shoulder on the right and a 4ft shoulder on the left. How can I type in 2 different shoulder widths.
