AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Assembly Overlap When Assigning Targets For Median In Corridor
Jul 9, 2012
Here's my assembly :
and
when I tried to assign the Median Width in my corridor to a polyline representing media width,
I got this overlap in my Section view :
how can I maintain Objects in this cause "Lanes" attached to median no matter width change ?

I am trying to get an assembly to work but having no luck. I have a 4' side walk with a (boulevard that varies in slope and distance from the back of curb) on the right side. (The sidewalk is existing and will be put back in the same place) I have an alignment and profile for the inside edge of sidewalk. (The inside edge of the sidewalk is the point I want to target). I have tried different targets and assemblies but get get anything to do what I need. Any way on assemblies and getting them to work in the sections?

I want to programmatically assign Targets to subassembly of baseline Regions but I could not Success in that here it is the code
Corridor corridor = ts.GetObject(icor.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForWrite) as Corridor; foreach (Baseline b in corridor.Baselines) { al = ts.GetObject(b.AlignmentId, OpenMode.ForWrite) as Alignment; foreach (BaselineRegion br in b.BaselineRegions) { double st = [code]........

I need to create an assembly where the median width varies , I already created the alignment, profile, corridor, section with the design level. Also I have created the assembly with fix width. Now in the middle of my road the median is getting bigger ,Its possible to link the median with a polyline or another alignment were it change the width ?

1. Attached is a file , when opened show two viewports. the plan view look OK , but the ortho on the right show a corridor not near elev. Of the the alignment and the surface is missing ( I cannot get to the object viewer to show me the model setting) .
Am I in big trouble and had to create a surface again?
2. The end of this corridor you have lines all over the place , I probably need to create a corridor surface , correct?
3. Why is the alignment so far from the corridor model?

I have created a corridor of an exit ramp. Part way through the corridor, the left side slope isn't generated.
The subgrade doesn't exist. In the Sideslope to no side slope.png image that the corridor has a side slope and ditch at 10+600. Also in the 10+600.png image. But at 10+610 there is no side slope. There is OG surface out far enough, but it seems that in the 10+610.png image that there isn't enough OG surface. Orignally there was survey data missing in this area and it was added after the fact to the OG surface. Why doesn't the corridor recognize it, if that is the case. I have updated and syncronized the heck out of everything, but it still doesn't seem to work.
I should point out that this is in meters (the cross sections are 10m apart) and that it is the same Assembly being used for this area. Also all targets are consistant through this area as well.

I'm trying to successfully get through a corridor, but to no avail. I'm certain I'm missing a step, and I'm certain that the step I'm missing is setting a surface to daylight to.
My project: It's a simple grassed waterway in a parabolic shape that is ran on a proposed profile grade up a draw. As you can see in the screen shots, it should daylight to the surface on each side. You can also see that the majority of the profile is deeper than the assembly is tall, so I should have a corridor that daylights on each side with a gradual cut up to the surface.
I profiled the centerline with offsets. I need the offsets to see how deep to lay the proposed centerline in regards to how deep my waterway will be. I get a bunch of error messages when I run the coridor, and they all deal with the offsets.

I am doing public works type project. A simple road widening project. I created an alignment, surface, profile view and basic road assembly (from tool palettes) and corridor.
I created a corridor and referenced it to my "profile view", "alignment" and to "basic road" assembly. When I created section views, it shows only existing grade based on the surface and the basic road assembly is not showing on my sections. I can't figure out how to do it.

how to create corridor, and I have a question about assembly elevation targets.
When creating a corridor, the profile is required as dependent object, which gives the elevation of the centerline of the road. Based on the definition of assembly, the elevation of the corridor at the offset targets can be determined by the profile. My question is if the assembly elevation target specifies the elevation at the offset target too? If so, why both profile and assembly elevation target are required?

I am trying to build a corridor using a conditional slope assembly that considers the roadway and links into the lots.
The corridor is divided into 3 regions. All targeting has been assigned.
The first region appears fine. The second and third show no links beyond the roadway.

I have created a proposed centerline along my existing roadway, which represents along my profile. I have created an assembly for my proposed raod with a crown, and a 2% cross-fall in each direction.
But when I generate my sections, all my proposed assemblies show up in the proper location on my section views, except there is no cross-fall showing on any of them? They are all being shown in my sections as dead flat! 0%? I've been looking for a setting to change this.? I have also deleted, and recreated my corridors and regenerate my sections, only to get the same results!

I've been working on a proposed ditch relocation.
I made an alignment, profile, build an assembly with it's constraints (2:1 until a certain elevation and then 3:1 to the existing ground), and made a surface from that corridor.
Now i wanted to know this : How do i generate a polyline with the assembly information ?
Using : Autodesk Civil 3D 2012

I am using C3D 2013, I have a corridor created using a Primary Road Full Section as my assembly, I have all the slopes and ditching set, when I go to model the corridor the ditching is not showing correctly, only small sections of the ditching are showing when I know there should be more. I have the assembly setup to build the ditching when there is less than a meter fill, but will not work.

For some reason I cant seem to target an offset alignment layout profile with my corridor lane assembly. I can target the existing the existing groundprofile with the same offset alignment, but the layout profile when targetted does not change the lane in my cross sections. I can do this with civil 3d 2010, but not 2012. I have tried other lane sub-assemblies and it doesn't make a difference.

I would love for the day that ADSK allows users to assign materials to faces and surfaces at the assembly level. I know this can be done at the part level but this practice has it's flaws when trying to have an accurate BOM and Parts List as well as other "issues" when using that method.
Take a plated part for example. At my company our structure of a plated part would look something like this:
raw material - machined part - plated part. I'm sure it;s the same at many other manufacturing companies.
Typically we will have a material spec sheet for the raw material. We will have an IPT and INV dwg of the machined part file. We then place the machine part (IPT) into an IAM to become the plated part. We do this workflow because if we chance any geometry to the child (machined part) it will update and reflect a tthe parent IAM level (plated part). This also keeps out parts list and BOM structure in-line with our MRP system. So this workflow works great for us.
However there is an issue doing it that way. Inventor doesn't allow to assign materials to faces at the assembly level which seems just wrong to me. I kind of understand why they did that but it sure would be nice to be able to assign materials to faces in IAM files. Yes I know I could acheive this by using Derived Component but then my parts list and BOM structure does not reflect the base part. It only reflects the Derived part in my Parts List. Is there a way I'm missing to alter or change the Parts List to pull info of title, part number, etc of the base part rather than the Derived?
Ideally I'd just love for one day INV to allow material assignment to faces and surfaces in the assembly level. It looks rather strange on our drawings where we do a section view of the top l;evel assembly and see parts that are technically made of brass but look to be made of chrome or zinc plating instead because of how we had to assign material to the entire body of the component at the assembly level.

I'm not a regular user of civils but have created corridors with regions and road edges in previous version to 2013 with no problems.
Now trying to create a simple corridor in 2013 and when I try to set targets I get the message "no targets found in the script".What does this mean and is there something wrong with my template file?

It can be done using the LaneFromTaperedMedian subassembly, and that there is a webcast explaining it. I have checked with Autodesk, and the webcast is no longer available. Any detailed instructions as to how to accomplish this. I'll attach an image of my median.

C3D2012..I have an assembly with left and right curb subassemblies, they are spaced about 1 m apart. I want to connect the BOC's with a constant slope median. I bring in the median and connect it to the Left BOC and it attaches, but shoots the median for 20 m across the assembly to the right. I tried to put a marked point on the right BOC prior to bringing in the median assembly, but the same thing happens. I changed the marked point name to RTC (Right Top Curb) and also changed the name to match in the median subassembly, with the same results.
Any proper way to insert the median and get it to connect properly.

Copy a corridor successfully? I'd like to try this just a little worried about the explosion of evil this may cause to my Civil 3D session.
Even all the properties of the corridor setup from one to another would be useful. I'm building one corridor and an 2nd one that matches everything except I need to replace my Assembly with one meant for stripping.

My corridor surface is not matching my corridor top links. see attachments. this is affecting my volumes!
The section-plan(surface red).png is showing the section editor and the plan view. the red highlighted line in section is the corridor surface and as you can see in plan view the surface is incorrect and wiggly.
The pdf is all my sections with the red linework being the corridor surface.

i have a question for the gurus. how do i accomplish modeling two parallel roads with a median in between? in other words, say a northbound (NB) and a parallel southbound (SB) roadway, with a grass median in between them. the both roads have crown, and then eventually slope down towards the median, and at one point they meet.
I am curious to know if say for NB and SB, i have an assembly with the lanes, then shoulder, and then median area past the shoulder at x%, what subassembly should i use to accurately model the point where the NB and SB x%s meet?
*Edit:
I am not sure if i would be able to do it with only one baseline, as the roads may not always be parallel.
