I don't know if I am doing something wrong but I made exterior elevations in views for a building and the interior partitions are also displayed. An exterior elevation should only display exterior walls.

I am currently working with this drawing but im having some trouble with some settings..i can render the materials, but i can not set the background of my drawing..meaning, the 3D Perspective Projection background...i attached a photo so you can identify the problem...and what i am seeing in my monitor. As you can see, on the first image, when i select the 3d perspective projection(under drawing windows) after selecting it, it didn't take in effect. Also may i ask how to set the "sky effect" background? because i wanted to render this drawing to the best projection it can be...

Is it possible to use an Autodesk Inventor .iam (assembly) to generate a file containing only the visible/exterior surfaces of that .iam?
My employer has a requirement that, in certain situations, only data without internal features/details can be supplied to customers. In this case, we only want the customer to be able to view the assembly & not see the internal features of individual parts.

Am using the "pre-defined" walls in Autocad Architecture 2010, with equally pre-defined windows.
I have found where to change ("Edit window style") virtually every parameter of the window, e.g. frame and sash depths.
However - I can not find a way to change the position of the the glass in the window relative to the interior/exterior of the wall. (see attached image for clarification)
I hope I am making myself understood - the glass could for example (assuming the depth of the frame is the same as that of the wall it sits in) be located 40mm from the exterior of the wall - or 10mm.

I have to convert my ACAD drawing to shape files for a GIS user. I have figured out how create a polygon, point or line and add object data with the tables. I have my ACAD drawing setup to the requested coordinate system but when I send them the shape files they are telling me that they get a error in ArchGIS stating "an extent that is not consistent with the associated spatial reference information". I am using Civil 3D 2012.

I have a shape file containing property boundaries with ownership names and parcel numbers. I have a cad map of town where there is a creek running thru the part of town I am working on. How to get a print out, or map of all the parcels that this creek is running thru? My main goal is to create a list of property owners adjacent to this creek. I think I have all the data, but not sure how to use it.

I am currently modeling a 2-Story Home. I have everything modeled the way I want it, but when I go to the elevations I see a gap where the siding and the sheathing don't touch between floors.
My exterior walls:
Core: 3 1/2" stud + 1/2" SheathingExterior: Air Barrier + 3/4" SidingInterior: 1/2" Gyp BdMy floors: Main:
Core: 3/4" Sub-Floor + 11 7/8" TJI + 1 1/2" Rim-JoistMy Floors: SecondCore: 3/4" Sub-Floor + 11 7/8" TJI
The floors are modeled to the stud to allow sheathing and siding to extend. I knew of this situation beforehand because tutorials on the interwebs say this is the way to combat your problem:
I go into the my exterior wall, select edit type, edit structure, (set preview to section) select siding, and then zoom in on the bottom of the wall in the section preview. The bottom of the siding highlights and a "unlock" toggle appears. I unlock it. I do the same to the sheathing. Then I go to my elevations, cut a section, and zoom in to extend the sheathing and siding.
Side Bar: Why don't the two extend independently? They should.
To the top of wall below.

Part of the design for vinyl siding includes corner trim pieces, it's a standard application. We would like to show that in our models, how to creat a vertical sweep. Is there any way to add a small piece like this in a wall type? It must extend the full height of the wall, and appear only at the corners.
Also, in many of our models, we employ a dutch gable roof style on the front with a wood shingle facade. On the top of the shingles are vertical metal battens spaced evenly from top to bottom. I am wondering/ hoping if there might be a way to add this feature (battens) to a wall type.

I'm new to working with GIS data imported into Civil 3d as shape files. I'm working on setting up base drawings for a new project area and I have a lot of data displayed as polygons with attributes. This is nice but I would like to be able to copy these to polylines on layers that I can have a little more freedom to work with.
For example the polygon boundaries are not exactly the boundaries that I need to show and editing the borders would be nice. Is there a better alternative to tracing the polygon boundaries? I have noticed when I extract feature geometry for line strings I get a polyIine I can use but the polygons' extracted geometry is a Mpolygon with solid fill.

I was given a job where i need to create a surface from a gis file. have been messing with my civ 3d 2013 a little bit and have been able to get a surface comprised of a bunch of polylines to appear (not a true surface). I will need to create profiles so i need a true surface. I downloaded a compressed shape file from the county and need to know how to insert this into a drawing and build a surface using my own surface style.
The files i have to work with:
.dbf
.idx
.prj
.sbn
.sbx
"autocad shape source"
.shp
"autocad complied shape"

Is it possible to redefine a subassembly's Code? For example, the built-in "Primary Road Fill Section" assembly's Curb and Gutter subassembly uses Pave1 and SubBase for the Shape Codes; however, most curb is PCC on top of AB not subbase. Since the hatch SubBase is defined in the style and applied to the entire Assembly, it makes it so the curb and gutter is built on Subbase not AB along with the roadway's AC & AB. How can I change the curb's code to be Pave1 on top of Base? Do I have to use MSVB?

I work in Rail Development and I am trying to create an assembly that will automatically generate a rail/tie shape and label Top of Rail Elevations, Track name and number, and offset distance. I have been copying/pasting a block onto each track in every cross section. This takes way too long! I have attached an image of what I want the assembly to look like in the cross section.
Before now, I have been typing in all of that information, when there are 9 tracks and 77 cross sections.
