From my lidar point cloud, I created a surface with 1 & 5 foot contours. I then put in a feature line between two hills to represent a fenceline. I go to look at the properties of that 487 foot feature line and the 3D length is only 1/2 foot longer than the 2D. The min and max elevations difference is 22 feet. So how can the 3D line only be that much longer than the 2D?

When making a line longer with no dims on the line whats the best way to do this? Stretch command or grab one end point and type the legnth you want the line to be longer by? ie: 2" long line needs the be 2-1/2" long
I will use the stretch command without problems. 2" long line: stretch command: type .5, line is now 2-1/2" long
We have a drafter (uses 2011LT) that will grab one end point stretch the line in the direction they want the change, type the added length and the line goes to the added length..2" long line: grab right side point stretch line to right: type .5, line is now 1/2" long
They use quick properties but they don't type the change in it, they type it in the command line.
They donot stretch first they just grab the point and move to the right and type .5" and the 2" line is now .5" lone when it should be 2-1/2" long. They do not have the dynamic input on. could that be the issue? When I do the same my 2" line becomes 2-1/2" long. What would be causing the difference? This just started a few days ago after we did the update for 2011LT
I've been running AutoCAD 2006 since it came out and have been running it on Windows 7 since it came out. I've never had any problem runnning my LT version. Today, all of a sudden I cannot type text in the multi-tex box. The cursor moves in the box but nothing is shown. I click okay but cannot select anything. It's like the cursor is moving but not laying down text. I've changed the different fonts, colors and even changed my background from Black to While and still cannot see any text.
My single line text tool continues to work just not the multi-line text box.
I also tried restarting my computer and tried opening existing files. The multi-line box problem occurs on other files to.
All of a sudden, though I've change nothing, my line properties are messed up, here are some of the issues
1) My line type no longer works (via layers or directly)
2) My text section within line properties no longer shows up in order to access 'text overide'
3) I can no longer change the line color.
Shortly around the time I signed in to Autodesk 360 I began to have problems with how I interface with the program. I have AutoCAD LT 2013 and, having used the programs for 20 years, I use the AutoCAD LT Classic format for tools and menus. Also due to how I learned CAD in the early 90s and with many abbreviated commands, I use the keyboard extensively.
1. Certain actions using my mouse have stopped working (i.e. Right-click to edit hatch or blocks). Basically a "recent input" menu comes up each time, showing a short history of my commands.
2. When I click on an object, from the top bar I can no longer edit using the pull downs for Layer, Color, Line Type, etc.
3. I can only edit via the Properties menu or through typing in commands. However when I go to change a setting in the Property menu, the boxes with an ellipsis do not respond at all.
Okay so LDD 09 will no longer be supported by why do we get a new version included with C3D 2013?The install package is larger than the original so there are some differences.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI created a straight line using the shift,click method. Now nothing I do will affect it. When it failed to be made invisible by toggling the layer I thought I created it in I systematically went through each layer in the image, turning them visible, invisible in case I lost track of where it was created, but even though those layers became visible/invisible as they should, nothing happened to the line. I tried to create a layer above it to just cover it up, but even though the new layer was on top, the line showed through. Although this line used to be needed it is now essentially a blight on the rest of my image, which is massive. I dread the idea of having to start from scratch. I can't simply erase it because it doesn't seem to be associated with a layer. Originally, the image was created in 2.6, I think (but am not sure) that this is the version I used to make the line, but when I got a new computer I downloaded 2.8, and after this discovered the problem. Everything else works normally, is responsive,etc

Is there a command to correct this issue?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am starting a Job in 2013 for the first time. Upgrade form 2011 C3D. The pipe structures are no longer updating when the surface updates. It will obtain an elevation from the surface when the structure is created but when I change the surface or even set the structure to a new surface, the Top of Casting will not update. Any thoughts as to whether or not this is a 2013 issue or if there is a new setting I need to change? This worked perfectly in 2011. I didn't use 2012.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am looking to draw my pipe with a thicker appearance than the typical line of width "0". Our storm pipes are usually drawn with this so as to stand out from other utilities. If the pipe is represented by a polyline, I have usually adjusted the "Width" or "Global Width" value to my liking. With pipe objects, it seems more complicated. I have searched the settings, and the closest thing that I could find was the Lineweight property, but that appears to have no effect on the line thickness in the CAD drawing.
Do I need to tweak a plot setting? Make a new linetype altogether?
I needed to remove a feature line that I used as a break line when creating a surface. When I removed the feature line from the definition of the surface, the grading did not change. It appears the points created by the feature line remain which is why grading didn't change. The only work around was to delete these points.
I noticed the same thing happens when I removed the surface boundary and inserted a new boundary. why these points remain and how to remove when I delete boundary and feature line from surface?
I have a line or a pline segment and i want to start a line from a point laying there and go perpendicular outwards. Is there a way to do it with tracking?
Yes, i saw the command draw line at an angle but i find it a little bit complicated for a simple task like that. I am sure autodesk have a simplest solution about that.
If i am already at the draw line mode and i can easy catch the tracking perpendicular to previous segment but if i want to start from another line and go perpendicular i cannot make the tracking work.
I have feature line with elevations that represents bottom of ditch and want to go UP 3:1 slope. also i have edge of road feature line that is higher than ditch and want to go 2% down until it hits side of the ditch that is 3:1. Any easiest way in civil 3d to create intersection line between ditch bottom going up 3:1 and edge of road going down 2%?

I have changed the line weight in the layer properties, in the Profile properties and tried changed the line weight in the pen style. Everywhere I could think I try to make the line thicker but when I plot, the line is still the same and difficult to distinguish from the grid blocks of the profile view.

I know I can just erase the table and then reselect all line callouts to create a NEW table, but I was wondering if there was a way to just select the line callout I missed and have it added to the parcel table without recreating a new one.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWorking on Acad2012 3d Civil. I draw a circle of 4000' radius and another one of 2000' radius. I put a tangent line between the two circles and I do see the tangent symbol but when I zoom in real close, it's not. So now I can't trim the excess radius of the two circle. I do have a trim line pasted the two supposedly tangent points. Is this a CAD issue or is their a variable to change that actually makes the lines tangent.

My profile is a separate dwg with plan view xref'd and surface a data shortcut. Of course there are feature lines and Survey Figures in the existing top I want to project into the profile, but can't because it is an xref. Besides copying .
I'm having trouble plotting a symbol over a line. For example, I'm doing a corner record and need to put our symbol for a set pipe on the corner of the property line. Our symbol for a pipe is just an open circle. I want to put the circle on the corner and do not want the the property line to be shown inside that circle. Essentially I want to make it look like I trimmed the line inside the circle but I want to leave the line intact so there is no gap in the boundary. What is the way to do something like this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have made line types with text and need to reverse the direction that the text reads. The text autocorrects based on UCS north. The UCS in the drawing is rotated 90 degrees so line text reads upside down. I type in the reverse command but the text does not change.

First I label the lines I have drawn using a line label type for example Bearing over Distance, then I am going to the Annotate tab, Add Tables, Add Line and Curve and once I get to that dialog box I select my table style that I have already created and the label style I chose to label the line and click on the "apply" box and then "ok" and I see the labels such as L1, L2, etc. and all looks good, except now when I go to use that label style Bearing over distance to label another line, it labels the line with the tags and not the bearing and distance, its like the style is now defaulted to labeling tags and not bearing and distance anymore.
How can I revised the line type so that the text reads in the same direction. The linetype text auto adjust to read correctly in Model Space. However In the plan and profile drawing the site is rotated 90 degrees so when the text changes direction from northwest to northeast and the line text changes direction. I need for the text to be in the same direction the entire length of the line.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a profile view with the existing ground profile shown. The alignment the profile is referencing was stretched at the front and now the profile markers do not line up with the profile line. The profile line updated as it should have, but the markers did not.

During Parcel creation I told it to apply curve tags and it did what it said, created curve tags. Never again until I get comfortable with it. Looks great but want to have some order here. It's really random. I know it's not LDD but in LDD you could clear tags and start over. How to do this in 3D? From what I understand even if you do not display tags they are still created right? So where do I set the default starting number? Settings > Parcel > Commands > CreateSite?
I'm doing a road project. i've got profile grades of existing left and right ditches. in some sections we're redoing the ditches so i've got proposed left and right ditch profiles. what i want to show is where i've got proposed ditch grades, i don't want to show existing ditch grades.
The new ditches happen intermittently on the road so i would need to be able to turn off the existing ditches at various places. is this possible without exploding my existing ditch grades?
C3D 2012. I am trying to get the distance from the start of a featrue line to a selected point. My object is "FLobj" and my Point is PT1. I am using the method Get2dDistanceAtPoint. This is the line of code.
