Jun 22, 2012Is there a way to change or create a new scheme (banding) by elevation? For eg. I would like to use only a range of grey no other colors.

Jun 19, 2012I am using Civil 3d 2012 and an trying to apply elevation banding (one color) to a surface that is completely flat. Everything seems to be in order but nothing shows up. If I add another point file to it that has a variety of elevations then the elevation bands show up, if i remove it it disappears again. I can view the boundary and get elevation readings when I mouse over the surface.

Jun 1, 2012I have created existing and proposed surfaces in Civil 3D 2008 and I'm trying to create a volume surface to produce a cut & fill map. The problem I'm running into is everything I try to follow mentions choosing Elevation Banding (2D) as the style. The only style I have to choose from is Standard. Does the Elevation Banding (2D) style normally come with the program? Or is this something you have to create?

Oct 21, 2013Today I created a TIN Volume Surface. The volume surface seems to have a "resolution" issue if you will when displaying using elevation banding. In the attached screenshot note how the edges of the surface are "squared" or pixelated. Also, the blue lines are "hide" boundaries, and they have the same effect. I've created volume surfaces before with no issues until now.
The volume surface compares 2 surfaces that were created from nothing but contours. Some of the contours can be seen in the attached image.
I've tried REDRAW and REGEN, the image looks the same in model space and paper space, I've tried closing AutoCAD and reopening the file. I deleted the volume surface and then created a new one... I'm sure there's just a setting somewhere that I'm missing.
For comparison, also attached is a screenshot a "normal" volume surface that I created before. This one has no "hide" boundaries, but the edges of the surface aren't "squared."

I need to create a drawing for someone who doesn't have civil 3d showing all the "cut" areas. They really want a boundary of hatch. What is the best way to do this after I change my analysis to -30 feet cut to 0 feet cut.

Aug 22, 2013I assume nobody has been able to create a parametric part used for storm pipe networks that can have the pipes attached to a point within the structure other than the insertion, or have the elevation read from a point other than the insertion.
With that in mind, we are trying to develop a tool that would allow us to pick a strucutre, and set its "rim" elevation to a point on a proposed surface that is not at the insertion of the strucure. I am decent with lisp, but have not attempted to gather info from random points on civil ojects.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: How To Color Contour Relative To Elevation
Dec 11, 2013I would like the contour line colored to reflect the elevation it is depticting! I have successfully used surface properties - elevations - to create ranges, and to FILL color in between contours, but is there a workflow to color the contours themselves?
I also noticed, within the same dialogue box in surface properties, a contour pull down - but it doesn't have near the control to set elevation ranges, nor does actually effect the contour color.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Change Elevation Of Survey Point Within Drawing?
Aug 28, 2012I'm looking to change an elevation of a survey point within a drawing. I can see where it is possible to manually unlock the points from the Survey Database to allow the user to edit the point. I'm not seeing a method or property in the API Help for 2013 to do the unlocking with code.
Also is it possible to convert a Survey Point to a regular Cogo Point through the code? Or do I have to delte the point and then recreate it as a COGO point? I think this will be my work around if the above doesn't work.

Sep 19, 2012I want to color cut/fill using red/greens schemes.
I want to use "interval with datum" method, and 2' intervals.
That gives like 20 rows for cut and fill, and so c3d applies one red to 5 rows, then next red to another 5, and so on.
I could pick colors by hand, but that dumb dialog is so slow, and its not easy to visually pick a nice gradation.
Is there no way to say "step from this color to that"?
Even when I do get all set up, I am finding performance of displaying the 2d solids takes forever.
I obviously have a large surface, but that is why we pay for good software right?
I am on c3d 2012 on a fast 64 bit win 7 machine. [URL]

Jul 11, 2013I am trying to create an elevation label that will give me the spot elevation followed by the letters "TC" and then on the line below subtract 4 inches from the elevation followed by the letters "BC". It's easy enogh to add the letters but the simple equation of elevation - 4 inches eludes me.

A few weeks ago I did not have this problem but once my computer was switched to the company's global server and c3d was reinstalled the problem appeared. Furthermore (post switchover), when a colleage of mine prepared a simple test drawing with just a line and a point, he was able to snap to that line without the point changing elevation. When he sent that drawing to me and I tried snapping the point to the object, the same problem occured with the point taking the elevation of the line object. I suspect it is a system variable issue

Apr 19, 2013I have a surface volume analysis with 2D banding..Regardeless of it is a +- surface and it is not at the right height location, I want to see it in 3D. uffffff, 30 seconds waiting to acad ....
I have a good pc (wirth a superb nvidia) (I have no problems with any other software or 3D actions)
First , I have to wait almost 30 seconds before have the 3D mouse movements avalaible.
Second, every mouse move ( to change the point or view, etc ) means 3 seconds of delay.
The model is little , 400 x 600 meters. (It is an example from mastering c3d) .
Photoshop :: Banding In Color Gradients?
Jun 23, 2013Using CS6, I created a sky gradient on a new layer, then imported some photos to other layers for a composite. Then I noticed horizontal banding of varying widths in the sky area of the gradient. When I use the Move Tool to move the gradient layer around, the bands move along in a fixed position, so it's not my monitor. When I Option-click on the gradient layer eyeball icon to make just that layer visible, there is no banding on the screen, just a smooth gradient as it should be.
I have never noticed this happening before. What causes it and what can I do about it?
Photoshop :: Color Banding In CS6 While Zoomed Out
Oct 19, 2012I have a problem with color banding in Photoshop CS6 while zoomed out, even though I am working in 16 bit. Here is a crop of the same area of a .psd while open in Photoshop CS6 (left) and in Illustrator CS5 (right).
The banding is quite apparent in PS while not present in Illustrator. At 100% zoom there is little banding in PS, and converting to 8 bit makes it look markedly worse. However at 25% zoom (which these crops were taken at) converting to 8 bit makes no visible difference, making me think that Photoshop's zoom is working at 8 bit for some reason.
Since the image looks fine in Illustrator I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with my display, or graphics card/driver. I've tried changing the color profile (currently set to Adobe RGB) in Photoshop without effect. I've also tried changing the 'Graphics Processor' level in Photoshop, including disabling it entirely, as well as reducing the cache level to '1' without effect either. I'm not quite sure why Illustrator is able to handle the image so nicely at all zoom levels while Photoshop introduces all this banding.
Lightroom :: Color Banding On Blue Sky Using 4.3
Jun 4, 2013Recently, I updated my LR3 to LR4.3 and my camera from Olympus EP2 to OMD. So, I am not sure if any of these factors play a role but, I started having severe banding on photos taken in vivid sunny day with a blue sky. I am not an advanced LR user and, my process of developing photos in LR has always been pretty simple. First, I export RAW format pictures from a card to a hard drive. Then, I do some adjustments and make two jpeg copies from each RAW file.
One copy I in Export dialog box File Settings as a JPEG, Color Space sRGB, 100% quality and another copy I export for web so, I limit to some minimum size without setting any quality reductions.
Again, in the Export dialog box -> File Setting -> check (checkbox) Limit File Size to 300KB to 1MB. In this sample case, file was farely large so, LR did not allow me to save this file in less than 950KB. URL....

May 22, 2012Gradient and color banding are very apparent and exaggerated until I zoom in to 66.6%. It even hangs for a split second as if it is solving a new render at a higher quality. This is getting frustrating as I've found myself manually trying to clean up issues that actually aren't there when I zoom in close enough. These issues are expecially obvious when working with skin using several degrunge techniques and dodge and burn on a softlight layer. It does not seem to matter what display I use.
If I commit all adjustments to a new layer the problem goes away. I'm working on a Eurocom Panther 3 running Windows 7 64 Ultimate. I have a hex core Intel processor and 2 Nvidia 580m in SLI, though I am aware that is not used in Photoshop.

Lightroom :: Images Imported 0 Some Ruined With Blank White And Color Banding
Sep 28, 2012I'm using Lightroom 4..i've been importing my RAW images from my external harddrive. Some show up in the catalog as ruined with a blank white section and color bands. I've checked the actual image on the external hard drive and it is fine. I've deleted the ruined files from the LR catalog, then re-imported those problem ones... still come in as white with banding. I've even tried deleting them from the catalog, then from the hard drive... then back onto the HD from the camera, then back into lightroom. Some look ok until I look at then in loupe view and the same problem happens. Mean while the images on the HD and on the camera's CF card are fine.

Now with Civil 3D 2013, the color of the paper background in paper space is white and I can't read the yellow text. I know that you can either turn the paper background on or off, but is ther a way to change its color so that it is darker?
